It’s definitely not all sunshine and rainbows for everyone. Hard work prevails and you need to be willing to put it in.
DO NOT relocate ANYWHERE without a solid plan put in place...(as well as a plan B, C, etc...)

So true... You definitely have to have your plan A, B and C

Wow that was deep. Sounds like he had an earlier opportunity for help but declined. In the end he found a support system that helped him push through, which is great! Never question the path of success just respect the determination it took to get there.

I'm glad that things worked out in the end for dude. However, I was a tad turned off when he stated, "I don't believe in welfare." First off, doesn't he understand by living in a shelter he was already receiving welfare? There is a cost involved in that space being open, including the cost of water, electricty, the workers' salarly, etc.
My thoughts are this...he could use the welfare system to boost himself up. Then, hopefully at some point in his life, he'd be in a position to pay it forward. That could be, for example, donating to the homeless or to programs that help train homeless youths. Just my two cents.

Very touchy story, but he stopped me once he said he didn’t believe in welfare. I know people personally that allow their pride get the best of them. I’m glad he made it out and living a good life. A wiseman once told me “the quicker way for someone to be forgotten, is their pride” that always stayed with me

You're right. I am looking at this welfare thing differently now.

Its sad to think how many future truck drivers, police officers, teachers, programmers, doctors, welders, and sales people have been lost because they felt too much pride to take food stamps for 3 months to get back on their feet.
      Everyone falls.

That's a lovely story full of hope. Thank you. I was living with an abusive bf and now face being homeless in Tampa. I'm a talented barber by trade and pray I can find work and remain safe In the streets until then

So he believed in the shelter (temporary) but not welfare (temporary)? Okay.

Eric, what a great success story. He made the right choices for him. This does bring up a reality of Florida. With tourism brings jobs and most are low paying in that industry, it’s hard to break out of the cycle, but this man obviously did with job training. Congrats.
Did he mention why he didn’t attend the CDL training in Tampa? Truck drivers are needed here too.
Rent is higher, but we also don’t get laid off due to weather.
All things to consider when moving to a new area. Happy he found his happier place.

Wow that story hit me hard 😥 I thought I had it bad down there. Iam very happy he got his CDL and is doing good for him self. This story proves that it not all sunshine and rainbows down there. I know a lot the people that watch your videos are thinking of moving down there. I would just say this don't let whether dictate where you live if you have a good job please be smart. Make sure that you are able to handle hot weather for 8 to 9 months of the year before you move down there.

Unless you own your own business even having a job is form of welfare. Yes, you exchange your labor but a good company will provide healthcare, retirement plans, legal assistance, car assistance, and other employee welfare benefits.
The company takes the burden off you finding these things on your own in the open market. They took the risk of starting the business to create your job, and they pool their resources to provide these benefits in theory at a reduced or no cost to you.

In the end of the day it wasn't really Florida, but his support system that failed him. Once he found a better support system he succeeded.

No his support systems were fine. He ultimately realized that before his pride truly got the best of him that he needed stop being hard headed, and not blow his last and final option with his biological mother.
Them streets finally got a lil too cold!

Good for this man in finding his way.
Although I have never personaly used welfare I am happy the resource is available to me, if hard times should cometh. And if you live long enough hard times avoid no one. Jobs are lost and everyone does not have family to lean on.
Like the vast majority I would use welfare as a bridge to find my way back to solid ground. My parents are not living so using my Mom's basement while I figure things out is not an option for me.
I am willing to bet money there is a viewer out there with an identical story who took the full assistance, stayed in FL, got his CDL, and is now living his best life in Tampa. But hey everyone has to learn their own lessons in this life.
Best of luck to him in his future.

Florida is rough when you trying to start from scratch. I been down there a few times and it’s rough I’ve slept in bathrooms, on the beach under bridges and even on a empty sailboat in gibsonton.
Also there seems to be a I got money vibe down there and people flexing everywhere
