I moved to Memphis from New England and I couldn’t believe how big wrestling still was. My girlfriend’s grandmother still religiously watched wrestling. I ran into Lawler at a place called the Electric Cowboy and you’d think Elvis Presley walked in he was so revered and respected. It was awesome.
hey …. it’s was crazy in there . there were more fights in hallways after the matches than in the ring - everybody was wound up ready to rumble … just sayin’ memphis peeps. dutch was great at the shows and on tv . they got everybody fired up to go monday night to see what happens …. memphis fired up on sat. morning tv and go to the mid south coliseum
They need to make the Mid-South Coliseum a Memphis Wrestling Hall of Fame. I certainly would visit it a lot.
The Mid-South Coliseum had the ambiance of wrestling no matter who's working it, BROTHER!👍
But the Memphis Tams in the old ABA couldn't even draw crickets mostly because the Tams were so bad.
The Mid-South Coliseum was such a great place and gave me great memories.
It was awesome to wrestle in the Mid-South Coliseum, even the ring had an incredible sound in that building.
I loved the coliseum as a child we had great wrestling
Just saw recently they have a plan in place to bring the Colliseum up to date and re open it. That would be awesome.
Need to do something about the hood around it first. That's what killed it and Libertyland.
@@hendo338 Very true.
There are groups that are trying to have it reopened. It's an uphill battle but support is growing.
I've played the Mid South Coliseum. As a Memphian it is one of our crown jewels so to say...
Nashville fairgrounds at the old coliseum was the best ! It was a old cow barn , but man was it packed.
Lots of big shows back then in the MSC, but 2 men ruled there, jerry lawler and dana kirk, especially if louisville was playing

Some great shows were in Memphis.
Macho man sold it out when he and Lanny Poffo wrestleed
One of the most iconic venues in the history of professional wrestling 🙏 so blessed I got to attend several shows there back in the 80’s!!
Back then every Monday night at the Midsouth Coliseum was like Wrestlmania.
Long history of great shows at the Coliseum - concerts, the circus, Holiday on Ice, Ice Capades, Bill Watts and Jim Duggan vs the Freebirds.
Dutch is right about the crowd identifying with the show. AEW has small, goofy wrestlers and the AEW crowds are small and features goofy people...
That's it! 😅 💯
AEW does draw some very good crowds, it's just that they run much bigger arenas. 4000K for tv is very good.
Lawler did commericals there until recently. Danny Dunn transmission ads ran forever.
I'd love to hear stories about the WTBS midtown Atlanta studio back in the GCW days.
Dutch it was the Roberto Clemente Coliseum next to Hiram Bithorn stadium in San Juan
Elvis made a live record album at Mid-South; RCA released it in 1974. Part of my collection.
11,200 for Wrestling about 11,000 for basketball
I've seen a monster truck show featuring Big Foot at the Midsouth Coliseum.
The BEST concerts ever were at the coliseum!!!
Only saw two matches at mid south and I loved. I watch shows in Louisville on Tuesday nights but had to see the King beat Superstar
Where is Dutch?
James had a baby, Dutch got sick, Dutch dealing with Hurricane aftermath. All the combined has led to no new Dutch for like a month now.

Lots of greats started there ...Kamala ...The Rock and Roll Express , The Blade Runners , Bam.Bam Bigelow , Sid Vicious etc
AEW talent is bush league. It's backyard wrestling.
Did you wrestle Sputnik. Monroe?
MSC seats 11,200 for basketball. Easily 12,000 for wrestling.
Stone Cold was in the audience!
How was the sportatorium
Always heard The Sportatorium was a hole.
Not a good building by any stretch
Greetings from South Carolina homebouy
