    This tutorial is terrific! I was worried my PRS SE245 was too muddy and bass-y, but this tutorial (and the clean tones one too) is a tone-saver! Thanks, Paul!

    First off I have to say that these are a great series of video tutorials, very informative and well put together. This one is great for when you have settled on ‘your sound’ and you want to be able to get it on different guitars. There is another approach, I would suggest, and instead of getting the same sound from different guitars you can also use the Katana to emphasise the characteristics of different guitars to get the best out of them. There is such a thing as the Telecaster sound, the Strat sound and the Les Paul sound and others, and that’s why people buy those guitars in the first place. What sound you choose is of course influenced by the music you want to play and your playing style. I’m not a lead player; I play rhythm and I sing. I also play different guitars. I will use the knowledge you have given me to set up patches that get the best out of my electro-acoustic, my 12 -string and my Richmond Dorchester. Thanks for your great work.

    It would be cool if you guys included an audio file of the unprocessed sound of the guitar used for each preset.... That way we could match the unprocessed sound by ear..

    It would be helpful if Boss would tell us the frequency ranges of the 3 panel buttons, so we dont end up cuttng/boosting the same frequencies we just adjustable on the panel.

    Thanks for the great video. How about a tutorial on using the Global Eq or even the "shrouded in mystery" Contour switch to designate a setting for each guitar. A Tele, LP style, and HSS Strat rotate through my Kat Artist. For the live performer having either of those options would be great. Wouldn't really be looking to make each guitar sound too much the same but small changes to each setting would be nice. Maybe just some general tips. I now most folk are too proficient with dialing the Global Eq and Contour switch. I doubt most don't even know how to uset he Contour switch, myself included.

    I wanted to like this amp, since I was looking for something that I could use for practise as well as small gigs. Unfortunately, the Katana sounds thin, muddy and boxy. If you dial up the Gain and Presence, you can get something close to a Vox, but that's about it. There’s virtually no bass, and when you hike up the bass, the amp sounds like it’s muffled, as though a blanket has been thrown over it. A far better choice is to save up another $700 and buy a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe.

    This is just what I've been looking for. I have a Fender Player series HSS strat and have been looking for settings I could use with the bridge humbucker. I have a Katana Mk II but have only been downloading patches for it. I would like to start making my own presets and saving them, but don't know how. Maybe you could do a video on that? Thank you!

    A Video about Guitars with Active EMG pickups . I have a Schecter SVSS With EMG 70'S in it which cover Blues up to the most Nasty over driven distorted Metal , 80's to Modern Metal . This has caused me problems when loading Patches and they dont dial in sounding right because the Guitar used had Passive Humbucker's . I would be happy with a Dimarzio Super Distortion tone from my EMG's and how to set either of the EQ's to achieve that ??

    Hey Paul! Thanks for really nice videos on the Katana.
    Any tips on reducing the latency while connected via USB? I have some crazy half a second delay when playing through USB, and really can't find where to adjust for this, neither in Tone Studio, nor my DAW.

      @@TheStudioRats Sorry, didn't receive notification of your answer. I'm using Cubase with a PC. I might just try another USB port, once I get my Katana back (internal speaker of the head was d.o.a.), other than that I'm clueless.

    The adjustments gave much better sound. I was just thinking if Warm OD is the best for Humbuckers? Maybe another booster would have solved the dull sound, like the normal Overdrive or a Tube Screamer?

    Will the eq settings work for the Nextone Paul?

  • @daveclilverd
    @daveclilverd 4 роки тому

    Hi Paul, I think I must be doing something wrong in a big way - but...!!! I have a PRS Custom 24 (which has humbuckers of course) and I tried doing this tweak to your Ultimate Versatile Tone - however, as soon as I turned the EQ on, the sound became very muffled (and quite a bit quieter) - not like the sound you were getting at all...!! Would you expect a PRS to need significantly different settings to ones you dialed in? I often have difficulty making downloaded patches sound anything like they do in demo videos and when I saw you had done a video on how to change settings for different guitars I thought it might solve my problem. Unfortunately not it seems! Got any suggestions?

    • @TheStudioRats
      @TheStudioRats  4 роки тому

      Hi Dave, PRS's are sometimes a little dark but can I ask, is this just when you turn the parametric eq on?

    • @daveclilverd
      @daveclilverd 4 роки тому

      @@TheStudioRatsThanks for the reply. Yes, the muffled, reduced volume happens as soon as I turn the PEQ on (and goes away again if I turn it off!)
