I agree with you it definitely helps with the tomato acid, and after I made it I was thinking that I should have added some honey. I believe the original recipe calls for sugar.

I’ve heard saltines are easy to make so I may try that in the future. I didn’t even want to look at those ingredients, I was afraid 😬
I always add sugar to chili and any sauce with tomatoes. It helps reduce the acid.
