This is the JSU band era I grew up on man they were smashing everybody! But UAPB at the time was a force to be reckoned with as well they were no punks! Miss the 2000’s band era!

I was on Tuba in 04 UAPB ....section leader....this was by far the best battle i had marching period. The last good 5th like this was uapb/jsu in 2000. Everybody will have they say on who was the best band that day....but at the end of the day this was a fun ass battle. We were shaky on a few songs and so was JSU. All in all....i got love for JSU. And i hope that with the decline in band students that battles like this will be able to continue.

This was my freshman year at uapb..i was a 24k Golden silk..and i remember this..what a blast..and yes JSU did there thing..😅😅 and i would never forget Mr. Graham..good man and great director.

I got JSU on this one, but this was a great battle. The 2003 and 2004 years of UAPB are my favorite of that band.

I was there playing in the band as well for this game. Talk about soooo murch fun. looking back JSU had some standards that always got you moving, but IMO, loud does not equal musical. Dynamics are key but you want to hear the all the nuances that the arranger incorporates in the tune and a lot of that gets lost in loud play we have some. we were sooo musical (minus that train wreck of Dangerously in love) and that JSU mock was humbling lol. I think the size of JSU puts them at a disadvantage for a number of their songs. you can tell the songs each band are comfortable with. JSU relied on notable songs and volume. Didn't make them more musical than us. I really enjoyed going at them though. M4... "You don't want no mo...we got go...!

i loved this day awh Graham was scared after jsu cranked on us he moved the band to the inzone we just cranked dangerously in love in the band room the night before with no lights on the went out there and fucked it up lol memories

04 the swac as a whole was decent. Pv an gsu were damn near 300+ uapb sound was stronger than ever an their book was nice. Jsu 04 i didnt care for the hang overs started, sloppy field pressence 06 jsu was the best in that time 2012 jsu was the jsu that played with control not the loudest but they sounded great. All bands as a whole swac wise sound changed big time. For the better honestly.
