Great video Joe! You mentioned you had the crooked rod that runs from the right rockshaft arm down to the hitch bail. My 140 came with one and it's the only one like it I've ever seen. One thing I've been doing for years is using burnt motor oil to coat the bottom of my hopper. I used to paint it on with an old paint brush after I finished using the hopper. Now I have a plastic tub with burnt motor oil in it. When I'm done using my hopper for the year, I scrape out all the fertilizer with an old screw driver and wash it out good. When it dries off, I set it in the tub of burnt motor oil. About a month before I will use it next spring, I take it out and let all the oil drain off of it. I'm still using the original hopper that came with the tractor when daddy bought it in 1976. It still has the same plate that came with it. Whatever you do, when your done with it, CLEAN IT AND OIL IT!
I’m doing a “relook” at some of your videos, possibly all. I continue to pick up on “stuff” as I actually get my hands on my own stuff. Only one of my tractors has the fertilizer set up. A couple different planters that seem different than IH = no idea how to use them at this point. Joey you know I purchase any and all of the cast off for the Cult A Vision tractors. Might prove useful some day. Thanks again for sharing. Stan
A friend of mine just planted all his corn with a old cole duplex planter. Half throttle first gear on his 140 put out a seed or two about every foot. I'm about to try my fertilizer setup for the first time on my super A. Thanks for the videos!
An "after the fact" comment. Joey you have no idea as to just how much a newbie like myself learns from each of your videos. Might be "old hat" to a guy that grew up farming, but to me it is all great stuff. I have so much to learn, just not enough time I suspect. Fun stuff IMO. I am glad your subscribers are picking up, takes awhile I suppose. Thanks again from "Bubba North".
One turn of the press wheel is about 4 feet of travel. So put seed in the hopper and turn the press wheel once and see how many seeds come out. 4 seeds = 12 inch spacing. 6 seeds = 8 inch spacing.
I see in this video, you have what lookis like a "skid plate" on your 184 planter. In soft dirt, my 184 planter plamtes too deep . do you know where i can get that skid plate and angle runners. Thanks Great video
Hello thanks for watching. I’m sorry I don’t . I bought this planter just like you see it. I painted it but that’s really about it. Burch store tractors has some parts for them some time. Www.burchstoretractors.com
Sell that hopper. I’m with you I would grind that base just to make that one hopper work. Or I would try and find a international hopper base plate that fit and switch them.
@@Jtwes and FYI the star will are the same even for a old Oliver grain drill but next time u can take the grinder and cut a slit on both sides of the new hopper to fit over the ears on the drive
Those Chinese put that locking bolt in the wung way I bought one for my 182 planter frame making a bow bolt is possible, if u do grind that Chinese cut a slite bevel so it draws tite at long pin bolt.
I looked at this video I have the same problem as you have with the repo fertilizer distributor , rear lip will not seat and hopper is tilted. I have old international will rebuild . Repo will not fit

Totally agree. I’ve been spraying it with wd40
@@Jtwes WD40 is wonderful stuff and I'm sure not as messy as the burnt oil.

Your welcome. Hope it works out for you.
I sure envy both the fertilize setup and the planter. On the lookout for some.
You will find one.
Here it is. Will have to come back later today to watch! Already gave you a thumbs up.
It is a little longer than usual.
No big deal, I didn't even notice. I'll watch it all. Several you tube guys I watch post over hour videos.
Surprised you didn't put a bucket or the bag under it to catch all that fetilizer you dumped out.
I scooped it up with the dirt and put it in the hopper.

Thanks for doing this set video. These are the kinds of things I need to learn.
Thank you Wave .

Thank you Wesley I’ll have to check that on the planter.
Good video Mr. Joe. Hopefully it wont get too bad cold. Its 70 right now in my corner of Alabama. But in the morning its supposed to be 40.
My two nights to watch for are going to be Wednesday and Thursday. I have sweet corn ready to cultivate.
Maybe the corn wont get bit 🤞
Duffield Equipment in Williamsport, MD sells whatcha need for the Hopper.
Thanks Mark.
Hey just thought about that what part are we talking about .
Hopper drive chain rides on the closed side with the join facing forward.
I’ll double check mine thanks.

Mr joe you should start living streaming like while your planting or just to talk!
Hey Ben I’ve been thinking on that. Might do some when I cultivate the sweet corn. I get better internet at the house might do some talk live stream.
Yeah I put it on the close side also, would like to know if that's right.
After looking I believe it is
Sell that hopper. I’m with you I would grind that base just to make that one hopper work. Or I would try and find a international hopper base plate that fit and switch them.
I tried it later and it did ok without grinding it.
@@Jtwes I meant to say without grinding. Stupid spell check.
I have a couple of them reproduction hoppers and I had to modify all of them to fit because they want a perfect match to a true Ih hopper
Thanks Dylan that’s what I was wondering, if other folks were having trouble with them.
@@Jtwes and FYI the star will are the same even for a old Oliver grain drill but next time u can take the grinder and cut a slit on both sides of the new hopper to fit over the ears on the drive
There are different style drives you might have the wrong style repo to fit your fertilizer mount
I thought about that. The one I got seems pretty normal compared to what I’ve seen. But who knows might not be. Lol
Grind the hopper to fit the IH base.
It will fit I found out later.

Good ideal.
I looked at this video
I have the same problem as you have with the repo fertilizer distributor , rear lip will not seat and hopper is tilted. I have old international will rebuild . Repo will not fit
I talked to a guy Brandon at Burch store tractors and he said he’s only ever seen one style base so I figure that’s not the problem.
@@Jtwes j will take mold baseband compare but I seemy repo sits tilted same as your vid. I enjoy all your videos
If you learn.more plz let.me know
. Thanks
I will
Could you not grind the bottom of the aftermarket hopper to make it fit?
I don’t want to go that route just yet I’m going to do a little research first.
@@Jtwes is this the hopper that you can buy at Agrisupply?
If I remember here in a few mins I'll look at my base to see if it has those tabs on it
Yep, mine has those tabs or nipple things on the base like yours.
It is the same
👍👍
