Just saw the show last night, she's really improved since this video,it was awesome

this clip doesn't even do the actress justice.. this must have been an off day or something for her but I saw her today and she was incredible, like one of the best Mimi's I've seen, seriously.

I went to theatre camp with her. She's gone far since we were 17.
I watched a bunch of these clips like right after they came out, the rehearsal ones and the ones on stage, and I was like, "uhhhhh, they're actually not that great, not sure if I want to see this" but I saw it yesterday and they were sooooooooooooooooooo good. Especially Mimi and Maureen, both of them were probably my favorites. Skyler's breath support was insane, and Katie's a really great actress. Obviously Angel was probably still my favorite though, Angel was absolutely incredible and beautiful and equally beautiful both in and out of drag. Also I cried no less than seven times, three of which were just "I'm so happy to be here" cries. Yay
I saw this show last month and honestly the cast was amazing. I believe as time progressed they improved tremendously. Keep in mind that this clip was made before they started touring.

mae k Right, but I'm sure on the sheet music it doesn't say "every other note sing flat" and also as time progresses the standard for Broadway has increased and widened, now people aren't only expected to sing, dance, and act they have to do acrobatics and play instruments. So I don't think you can compare the past singing ability to now. Renee Elise Goldsberry is the perfect example of still having the rock energy and voice but still being able to STAY ON PITCH.

Tbf I'm not a music expert but I think this is just like one of the hardest songs to sing in musical theatre. Yes really. Those "awww-oooo" bits seem like such a hard note to reach, that and you're basically doing acrobats on the railing.
More often than not I don't see actresses doing a good job of it. This was fairly good but could have been better

Just a little sad that all of these clips are almost carbon copies.. [even down to costume, choreography & gesture] of the original Nederlander Show.. The wonderful, uplifting and emotionally thrilling thing about the NEW UK tour 2016/2017 is that it re-invents the text.. with mind blowing actors.. new choreography and a new HEART breathing NEW LIFE into this iconic groundbreaking show... why go back to the past 20 years on?

i saw her a few months ago, like september or october? and wasn't very impressed. she might've improved as the tour went on, but she tried really hard to emanate renee elise goldsberry when she has more of a daphne rubin-vega quality about her. it just seemed really forced

Olivia Perez agreed. I've never seen anyone live, but daphne, Renee (who I have on DVD of the last performance on broadway) and this girl all have VERY different approaches. I don't think she's very bad!
Olivia Perez I totally get what u mean and u r probably right. It's just that this "take" maybe sounds still immature to my ears if u know what I am mean to be used as a main promo clip. In any case I wish them all a huge success!
