- The South African National Defence Force (SANDF) and the South African Police Service have been conducting a raid in Pilgrim's Rest in Mpumalanga.
This following reports of illegal mining activities affecting the tourist area.
Although illegal miners, also known as "zama-zamas", are a concern in other parts of the country, this historic town and popular tourist destination have remained untouched by this illicit activity.
