Bea and Felix usually appeared in 2-minute roles throughout the episodes. It would have made more sense if you could play as Max, Norman, and Virgil the talking chicken.
    Virgil: "I'm a fowl, actually."

McDonald's also offered them as a toy alongside a mini Polly Pocket for girls. The authentic toy line was essentially Polly Pocket for boys.

Reminds me of the game "Dream TV" on the SNES, that's a bizzare platform game with split screen like this.
But Mighty Max was really Polly Pocket for boys.

I could see a second loop cartoon working: make Max uncannily competent and way ahead of everything because he's already done it before but his cockiness on the matter ends up making things worse half the time. Fortunately this could drastically alter his first attack on Skullmaster

I remember this game, mostly because the gaming magazine I was reading at the time gave this one of the lowest score I think they ever gave out, and their entire review was just complaining about how bad it was. Granted, they also seem to have only played the volcano level, as that was where all their screenshots came from, and one of their big complaints was that everything looked exactly the same, so I guess it was not the best gaming magazine...
(The same magazine also spent a large chunk of their review of the SNES version of Syndicate complaining about how bad PC games were, and they had someone who hated pinball review a lot of pinball games, so every pinball game received a poor review score)

I rented this one back in the day so I already knew the answer to this question.
I loved Mighty Max too (seriously those toys were awesome) but I remember playing this with a friend and we were both just extremely confused, I sucked horribly at puzzle games back then but I probably could have gotten into it if not for the most crazy sensitive controls I've ever seen in a game and the splitscreen making it impossible to see where the hell you were going.

Here's something fun, though: If you put the first run in on SpeedRun, you're defaulted to the moderator of that game. You can put your run in an insane category (e.g. drunk%, where you have to be drinking the whole time), and if no one wants to take your challenge up, you can have a world record forever. Granted, it's for something no one cares about or cares to beat. But hey, you can say you have a world record in something.
