It really dosen't matter, if you say 'try' or 'do'', 'may' or 'can' etc. What matters is if you acknowledge the customer's key stressed words, Like " installing LYNIX and WINDOWS, can be tricky, i'll do/ try my best to help you"
Call center QA's & TL's tend to hyper focus on the minnor points in english sentence construction, and penalise workers for the wrong thing. The important stuff is acknowledging issues and emotion, to get the customer to trust you to solve their problems'.

What's missing is passive aggressive behavior, demands to speak to the manager NOW, legal action threats, mocking the pronunciation of a non-native English speaker working for some third-party contact center dealing with a major company's issues, pure insults and constant remarks on how unhelpful the service has been. Apart from that, everything is just perfect.

    • @SingleStepEnglish
      @SingleStepEnglish  3 роки тому +8

Hahaha. Glad I didn't cover those issues! I agree that some customers can be very rude and insulting.

These are actually really helpful signs to show how the customer is feeling. If you name their pain and ask why they feel that way, you have an opportunity to get a very satisfied customer, but you need to take ownership and use the tools you have to resolve or at least progress their issue. If you stay close to the script and dont acknowledge the pain points, or take it personaly and engage in an argument you and the customer are going to have a tough time.

@@SingleStepEnglish actually, there are a lot of different things, such as, you have to write information about the costumer, like email address, full name, phone number and people don't get use to be kind always most part of the calls people is too moody. Hi my sir,
Could you please tell me how does it come?
What are differences ? Can we use in same situations?when should I use these 2 phrases
What about in spoken and written?
1)As far as I know he is a good person
2)as I know he is a good person
3)as far as I know he won't come to school tomorrow
4)as I know he won't come to school tomorrow.
5)as far as I know his wedding is tomorrow
6)as I know, his wedding day is tomorrow.
7)as far as I know I don't much about that shop?
    8)as I know I don't much about that shop?

    • @SingleStepEnglish
      @SingleStepEnglish  3 роки тому +4

As far as I know is more of a spoken expression.
We use it to give facts and figures.
As far as I know, grass is green.
As far as I know, the population of Sri Lanka is 21 million people.
In your examples, if you use 'as far as I know' for
      1) As far as I know, he is a good person.
This would give the feeling that the person is questionable.
People may think this person is not someone you can trust. But, then, you say....as far as I know, he is a good person.
If you want a simpler sentence, trying using this:
I heard he is a good person.
      OR...
I've heard he is a good person.
That sentence would be more positive.
      3) This sentence may be easier.
As far as I know, he will be absent from school tomorrow.
      5) As far as I know, his wedding is tomorrow.
(But maybe nobody has seen him for a week!).
This means there is a chance he will not have a wedding tomorrow.
Also, for 7) you should not use both 'as far as I know' with a negative statement such as I don't know much.
One way to change 7) could be:
Actually, I don't know much about that shop.
      Again, great questions!
      I hope these explanations help.

    Sir,
Could you please tell me are these Sentences grammatically correct? Can we say in these ways?
1)I want to buy a book from Ben's book shop.
2)I want to buy a book in Ben's book shop.
3)I want to buy a book at Ben's book shop.
4)I bought a book from Ben's book shop.
5)I bought a book in Ben's book shop
6)I bought a book at Ben's book shop
    Online
    7)I bought a book online
8)I bought a book via amazon.
9)I bought a book through amazon.
10)I bought a book on amazon.

    • @SingleStepEnglish
      @SingleStepEnglish  3 роки тому +6

The main difference in these sentences is between the words FROM and AT.
If you bought a book from Ben's book store, then you could have bought it at the store on the internet.
But, if you bought a book at Ben's book store, you went to the store and bought the book.
We would not say....I bought a book IN Ben's book store.
However, you could use this for present tense.
A: (On the telephone) Where are you, Mohamed?
You: I'm buying a book in Ben's book store.
4). 5). 6) Follow the same rule as above.
      7) That sentence is fine.
      8) You can use VIA, but it is not so common in spoken language. I feel that we use it more for written communication.
However, you will hear people use VIA to talk about travel. She flew to Los Angeles via Chicago. Also, you could day....She flew to Los Angeles through Chicago.
      9) You can say THROUGH. However, the nuance is that finding the book or product was difficult.
A: Mohamed, where did you get that new jacket?
You: Oh, I ordered it through Amazon.
      10) You can say ON Amazon.
This means you bought the book on Amazon's website.
For past tense, you can say....I bought a book from Amazon.
      I hope that helps!

    • @SingleStepEnglish
      @SingleStepEnglish  3 роки тому +2

      Hi Mohamed,
Thank you for the excellent questions.
I will attempt to answer each one below.
      1)I'm going to a wedding
      This sentence is perfectly fine.
      2)I'm going for a wedding
You can say this, but the question someone asked you will likely be: Why are you going to _________ (name of place)?
Therefore, you use FOR because you are giving the reason why you are traveling to that place.
3)I'm going for the foot ball match
4)I'm going to the football match
Same situation as above. It is very common to use 4) TO the football match.
      3) Question: Why are you going to England?
You say: I'm going for the football match between Man U and Liverpool.
      5)I'm going for a movie
      6)I'm going to a movie
In this case, you would not say 5) going FOR a movie.
See my recent video for the difference between going to A movie and THE movie.
      7)I'm going for a party
      8)I'm going to a party
Same conditions as 1) and 2) above.
9)I want to go for the wedding
If the distance is very far or perhaps dangerous, you can use this sentence.
10)I want to go for playing the football
It is more common to say....I want to go there to play football.
11)I want to go for play the football
Better to use the above example I gave. .I want to go there to play football.
12)I want to go for a party
It is more common to say....I want to go to the party since parties are specific information.
13)I want to go for a function
You can use this sentence, however it would be more common to say the name of the function. For example, the wedding, the graduation ceremony.
I want to go to the wedding in Colombo..
I want to go the graduation ceremony in Negombo.
      I hope that helps!
