The meticulous work of this family of artisans is so admirable! (And, as someone who works in a fabrication studio, I am *very* impressed by their dust-collection system.) Much respect from California
👏🌹👏🌹👏🌹. Hi for every one working in this extra arts footwear . Very beautiful and very good ideas . We are loved and like't so much . Good luck with best wishes . From my country Lebanon best regards .🌻🌷🌹🌺🥀⚘🌾
Wow, that's really cool. Always loved how geta looked, but due to Japanese having dainty feet, doesn't work out for those of us with much larger sized feet, unless we wanna figure out how to make them ourselves.
Burning the bottom hardens the wood, makes it more resistant to moisture and makes it very difficult for rot and fungus to thrive. You see the same process used for solid wood tool handles as well as many outdoor wood furniture. It's a very lasting way to protect and strengthen wood without relying on stain or varnish Edit: if you're able to, turn on the captions. They explain that in this case the bottom burning is to get rid of splinters and frays from the carving without having to hand sand it, since it's not the right shape to use a machine.
Very Nice! A question to you. Are their different sizes for the Geta? for children, youth to age 15 years and then young adult ages 18 through 25 years. How to market your artisan creation of foot ware to the modern people of the 21st century I feel that is your challenge... Good luck and most beautiful cultural Geta..
Motono no Mama made me smile! She has such an infectious smile! 😊❤

Why do they burn the bottom?
