Wow, I didn't look at the Road to Emmaus story this way. Thank you, Tim, for helping others see through the layers (the two-thousand year gap, the totally different culture, etc.) and really learning the story for what it is, not the sanitized version. Not all had capability to perceive if number of people whom appeared was very much dependent on their thinking then in line with the Faith's on Risen juxtaposed not fallen off alike failing personal memory too. Every incident seemed it's actively put up efforts more or less relived their experience if not firstly John else Magdalene's leading to other recognising also in succession as anything Phenomenal but illusory linking in Hope equally significant.
No doubt the Maccabees retaliation or Pilate suicide happened hereafter were never significant for Gospelors since their Lord's response of saving souls nothing comparable to slaying for victory over Satanic spirit world...

I have a question though about right before the men’s eyes were opened: was Jesus just breaking bread for a meal or was this a Lord’s Supper? There is no mention of wine and Jesus said He would not have it again until the Kingdom. Or was He saying the Kingdom was here? It’s my understanding that that was not the Lords Supper. Just wondering! I’m sharing these with many others. Thanks so much for posting them!
Kelly Bezz it's what Bible scholars call table fellowship. It is different from the modified Passover meal Jesus had with his disciples also known as the Lord's supper. It's something Jesus is depicted as doing through out the synoptic gospels. For the Jewish home it included some religious/ritual practices such as prayer which Jesus does in that particular story.
I imagine that as Jesus was breaking the bread and handing it to them that they saw the nail piercings and that's when their eyes were open. Your thoughts? @@Ko_kB

I do not think it was about his nail pierced hands because the story does not indicate that. I rather think it is about them finally recognising Jesus because he did something very familiar, that is sharing table fellowship, which is something he prominently did through out his ministry.

It's still hard for me to imagine in that table fellowship that the travellers didn't notice the wounds in his hands when He broke the bread. Just a few hours later He would appear to the twelve who had locked themselves in a room. (one of my personal favorite stories :) He showed them His hands and the wound in his side which seems to me He is again confirming His identity as the Christ who was crucified. I feel like I should respond but there is no words to compare with what he has just shared. I will start with my first thoughts. I believe it was normal to allow guests to break the bread in those days, or so I have read. I just realised that these 2 disciples would not have been at the last supper so this is the first time they would have witnessed breaking of the bread. But what is that in the light if this message. Our comments and responses seem so pitiful when confronted with the words and actions of Jesus. Tim should be preaching regularly in Churches again. That I am sure. This is indeed Holy ground. The only response can be 100 % commitment to following Jesus.

To be fair, the face in the second portrait is an angle and expression similar to a mugshot (straight on, no smile, mouth slightly agape) and isn't an apples to apples comparison with the first portrait. I wonder how the perception of the second portrait would change if the figure was drawn from the same angle with the same expression as the first.
I think the recreation of Jesus’s face is incorrect because Jesus was 30 to 35 years old. This recreation looks to be middle 40’S to 50! Jesus was younger than you, Tim when he was crucified. Good video though!
Tim, with all your studies you still are blind to the notion that there are no sacred symbols nor rituals in the New Covenant and that the true believers in the Lord Jesus Christ are the true redeemed Israel of God. Keep studying until you get it. May His Grace be with you.

I suppose if we say that this is like Jesus, we can also say that this is like Joseph, like John the Baptist, like Simon, like Judas, like Peter, like James etc.... I never thought people were such lookalikes in the 1st c.

30-35 years old while living in the desert and before sunscreen and modern medicine will age a person’s physical appearance.
