at 23:34.The dish you had, called "肉夹馍" (Roujiamo), is sometimes referred to as the "Chinese-style hamburger." In your case, it was filled with chicken, but it's a versatile dish that can also be made with beef, and it's equally delicious. Additionally, the owner of the shop you visited is a person with hearing impairment. That's why he asked you to point to the flavor you wanted using your fingers, with options like "不辣" (not spicy), "微辣" (mildly spicy, which you chose), and "麻辣" (spicy). There were also two lines of text on top that read, "你好,我是听障人士,我听不到你们说什么。请你们把想吃的味道指给我看," which translates to "Hello, I am a person with hearing impairment, and I can't hear what you're saying. Please use your fingers to show me the flavor you want to eat."

I just want to say that as a Chinese student, I am hungry when I see the food you eat. There are many delicious foods in China, except for some very famous dishes such as hot pot, which are relatively expensive and we can't eat them often. However, another characteristic of China is street food. First, it is very cheap, and you can buy very delicious food with little money, and students and others often buy it. Second, the food is served very quickly. For students or office workers who don't have time to cook or find a restaurant to eat, street food can meet their needs very well. Third, the variety is rich. China is a vast country. You can eat a variety of unique foods from different places. Fourth,China has a long history of farming civilization and a long history of food culture. In ancient China and now , food was an important part of people's lives.Eating a variety of delicious foods is a kind of happiness for us.❤❤😊😊😂

You guys are awesome! Love watching you enjoying new experiences in China. I'm Chinese but born and raised in Canada. My wife and I have been to China a number of times but you're going to some places we haven't been to yet, so you're inspiring us to travel to China again in the future. One suggestion I have is filming the Chinese menus a bit more. You guys often ask what food you're eating, but sometimes I have no idea, since I don't know the food from certain regions. Chinese food is so diverse. Seeing a menu would help a lot, since I can at least read what is offered. Happy travels!
If you are already in Xi'an, it doesn't hurt to visit even further West - Xinjiang (It's still a 2400km train ride). The natural scenery there are absolutely stunning; snow mountains, endless desert, great steppe, lakes and forests. The Islamic culture of Uyghurs is beautiful, too. I even met some white Kyrgyz tribes with blue eyes as well, I suspect they might even be the Romans who travelled east and merged into local nomads. If you have time, it's worth it.
Hi Alan and Shannon, awesome videos! One thing I would like to say is that for the last food that you ordered, the person actually had the board in the front saying, "he is disabled and cannot hear, so please point to the level of spicy you would like for your food?" so he was pointing that ask which spicy level you like, you guys probably noticed that he did say a word during the whole encounter, that is the reason! Cheers! - love from China
Green noodles is Spinach Noodles. The noodlels are made from Spinach juice and flour. Tradtional Xi'an food. Actually, Xi'an is a famous high-carbohydrate city. Maybe you can't miss Rou Jia Mo. Put roasted meat into the burge-like pie. More like Chinese hamburger.
The purpose of using a plastic bag is because there is no running water connected to the food stand. The city bylaw requires food stands have running water if they decided to use reusable bowls because is more hygienic and sanitized
From my point of view as a chinese, Chengdu and Guangzhou are the top 2 cities in terms of most delicious local cuisine, and when street food is also considered, Xi'an can join the club.
You two have become two of my favorite people on YT. I wish someone would or could invent a tool that would convert the deliciousness you are experiencing into digital 1s and 0s and then have a translator on my end, decoding those 1s and 0s into the smells you are experiencing.
Xi'an was one of the ancient capitals. What is so special about Xi'an is that the city was once connected through Central Asia, the Middle East, and all the way to Europe as far as Rome. It was connected via the Silk Road. The Silk Road was an ancient trading route.

Putting aside political topics, China is a colorful country. It is composed of 56 ethnic groups. Each region has different scenery, cultural characteristics and food. Most people are very friendly and tolerant.
There are many Muslim Hui people in Xi 'an. Their food is more like Middle Eastern food. Xi 'an people like to eat pasta. After waiting for days, you finally updated, good job.
the meat of the two kebab you guys ordered was actually lamb's kidney, i think that was the whole kidney there on one kebab, that is why it was so expensive, the normal lamb meat kebab usually only cost around 1~2 yuan per kebab
the kebab sticks you took first is lamb kidney, it‘s usually twice the price than normal lamb or beef stick,22 for 2 kidney and 1 sausage is quite reasonable actually.
I want to make super clear here my friend while politics might be controversal for foreigners (some are facts some are media propoganda), the people are nice friendly welcoming lovely and most importantly, hard working!
The last guy at the food stand is actually deaf. He cannot speak nor hear, that's the reason he is pointing at things. The three choices you have on the counter: 1. Mild, 2. Medium Spicy, 3. Spicy. No.2 which you picked is actually medium spicy. Enjoy your trip in Xi'an!

Love watching these videos, as you guys are not picky and apparently enjoy all the food you have tried.
I can't believe I finished this whole episode of eating and drooling section, just nice to see you guys trying some new food lol well done. Please don't say "this is the best place, this is the best food in China" you said in Chengdu and Shanghai, people are crying now lol
The vender attending the stall where you bought the tenderloin finger wrapped with bun, he's deaf. So it's actually working towards both of your favors communication wise.
I've been following many China vloggers and you two are up there among the best! Thanks for sharing your China journey with us.
LOL really enjoy you enjoying your food. Keep making more videos!
What a lovely couple! So cute
🥰I can't believe you went to Xi'an and even enjoyed the food near my school, making me miss home and hungry late at night in Germany!
You couple are so sweet ❤. Enjoyed your video very much.
You guys are so wholesome. Love your travel vids, keep them coming! Thank you and have a great Xmas.
Enjoying your videos to China. Raw oysters contain a lot of parasites and moving crawlies... best eaten cooked
glad to see you guys enjoy your trip in china😊
The purpose of using a plastic bag is because there is no running water connected to the food stand. The city bylaw requires food stands have running water if they decided to use reusable bowls because is more hygienic and sanitized
The winter in northern China is too cold, please keep warm and look forward to more videos.
Ok. Re Gan Mian can’t believe that you are falling love with other noodles 😂 The filling of that Bao seems to be Sauerkraut and glassnoodle.
From my point of view as a chinese, Chengdu and Guangzhou are the top 2 cities in terms of most delicious local cuisine, and when street food is also considered, Xi'an can join the club.
False, every Chinese cities have its awesome food.
川菜真的那麽厲害?沒去過四川

You two have become two of my favorite people on YT. I wish someone would or could invent a tool that would convert the deliciousness you are experiencing into digital 1s and 0s and then have a translator on my end, decoding those 1s and 0s into the smells you are experiencing.
Xi'an was one of the ancient capitals. What is so special about Xi'an is that the city was once connected through Central Asia, the Middle East, and all the way to Europe as far as Rome. It was connected via the Silk Road. The Silk Road was an ancient trading route.
Can’t believe you guys tried kidney skewers without any hesitation lol, enjoy!
that is not kidney
I think they did, but did they know that?😂
two skewers, obviously a kidney
@@xinyiquan666 yaozi 腰子 is definitely kidney lmao.
@@joey3291 pretty sure they didn’t know that hahahaha
Shannon is right,it’s Spinach Noodles😊
And, The person serving you the Chinese burger is a deaf mute man. He wrote his message on the sign. So he can only communicate with you through gestures.
23:29 “Hello, I'm deaf. I can't hear anything you're saying.
Please use gesture
Taste: 1.Not spicy 2.slightly spicy 3. Extra spicy”
greeting my friend, welcome to north part of China. there are so many traditional food like hotdishes noodles soup lamb Bbq in Chinese way. I'd really like lamb soup with paomo together in such cold winter is going to warm ur body up and get energy. hope you two enjoy good days in China.
I cracked up at Shannon's reaction after tasting the ckn drumstick 😂 For future reference in case you come across with another similar vendor, the red words says: "Taste: Not spicy, Light spicy, super spicy" → 口味: 不辣、微辣(or it can be '小辣')、超辣. The last vendor is apparently deaf, he says he won't understand if you speak, so please point (to indicate which spicy level).
UP
It was so much fun to watch your videos. Enjoy your vacation in China.
From bilibili, I like you guys all the videos. It's very normal, natural and objective. no lens filter, just pure feeling, so please keep this!!!❤
Recently just found and followed your channel. You are a lovely couple who seems to go head first without thinking and trying new food without prejudice. This is what real adventure is about. Awesome vids!
Welcome to Xi’ an,which is my hometown. You guys can visit the wild Goose Pagoda(大雁塔) ,Grand Tang Mall(大唐不夜城) ,Tang Royal Garden(大唐芙蓉园),Qujiang Lake(曲江池)the ancient Xi’an bell tower,or have a walk trip on the Xi’an ancient city wall.Xi’an history museum will also be a good choice.Beside foods,Xi’an is a really nice historical ancient city and you can feel the traditional Chinese culture in this city
世界八大奇迹之一,西安的兵马俑
and you guys can go to the northernmost of China to see the snow and fly to the southernmost to see sunshine
23:17This stall owner is deaf and mute, but he makes a decent living through his labor
Xi’An is one of my favorite cities in China. The food and history are unbeatable. No wonder it was the capital for so many dynasties.
Almost watch all videos due to your cute Scotland accent
At the very last food stand when he tells you to choose from option 1,2 and 3. on the top left corner it actually says : I have hearing disabilities, please point to the flavour that you want.
I love the dishes idea ill stock up on the bags for you coming home 😂😂😂😂- food looks amazing and shannons sooo cute in her panda hat xx
太棒了,终于看到你们更新了,因为天气太冷了,懒得出去旅游.注意保暖啊🥰
23:33 what is said on the board is that: the vendor is a deaf person, if you say anything he won't hear it, please point your fingers. So what you have done with photo to order is actually a lining with
哇!我隔着屏幕都闻得到香味了!每个食物 看起来都很好吃也
Putting aside political topics, China is a colorful country. It is composed of 56 ethnic groups. Each region has different scenery, cultural characteristics and food. Most people are very friendly and tolerant.
There are many Muslim Hui people in Xi 'an. Their food is more like Middle Eastern food. Xi 'an people like to eat pasta. After waiting for days, you finally updated, good job.
You are back ! ! ! Miss you so much ! ! !
Where is your local buddy by the way ?
the meat of the two kebab you guys ordered was actually lamb's kidney, i think that was the whole kidney there on one kebab, that is why it was so expensive, the normal lamb meat kebab usually only cost around 1~2 yuan per kebab
the kebab sticks you took first is lamb kidney, it‘s usually twice the price than normal lamb or beef stick,22 for 2 kidney and 1 sausage is quite reasonable actually.
23:29 The last vendor you tried, the owner he is with deaf disability (The text on the cart)
last shop the owner is a deaf person, he indicated to choose, non or mild or strong spicy 😊
Really enjoyed the video. Hopefully you guys can venture longer in China
Adorable couple. Welcome to China!
I want to make super clear here my friend while politics might be controversal for foreigners (some are facts some are media propoganda), the people are nice friendly welcoming lovely and most importantly, hard working!
Great honest videos, don't change your style
The last guy at the food stand is actually deaf. He cannot speak nor hear, that's the reason he is pointing at things. The three choices you have on the counter: 1. Mild, 2. Medium Spicy, 3. Spicy. No.2 which you picked is actually medium spicy. Enjoy your trip in Xi'an!
Lovely couple :) like your videos. The history of Xi'an is more than 3000 years, and it became China's capital from 1000 B.C.
I watched u all the videos in China, I like ur starting a trip without any plan,it’s challenging and unknown. All the people u meet in the trip like NPC in the video game, hope u have a wonderful and unforgettable journey in China.🎉🎉
Most of the food courts near the university are delicious and cheap, you guys really made a wise and authentic decision to go here. Have fun!
you guys are so fun to watch. Hope you guys can station in China for long term and keep doing travel vlogs like this.
Thank you so much!
