My favourite low-spend activity is spending a morning in a coffee shop - whether that's exploring a new one or going to our regular spot in the neighbourhood. The price of a coffee/drink not made at home (which we already appreciate on its own and value spending on anyway) is well worth gaining adventures to new places in our city, fresh air and a fun venue for meaningful conversation, journaling, reading, people watching, etc. 😌☕
To avoid coffee temptation, I've started making one at home and taking it with me. I also implemented a rule that if I don't have a reusable cup, I'm not allowed to grab a coffee. And honestly, sometimes I have iced water in my cup, because I just need an emotional support coffee cup 😅
Everytime that i aim for a no/low spend week/month, the universe laughs in my face and throws me the biggest curveball BUT i guess that is why Emergency Funds are important. Also i have never been one to get a takeaway when i don't want to cook/will be home later than normal (I am soo boring in that way), probably because i THINK that i can whip up something faster than i could buy takeaway 😂.. i normally opt for making a fried egg and ham on toast OR toast and soup OR ramen with frozen vegetables.
Love this when we have a no spend week well often do a cupboard cook so we use up things that get eaten less often or tins that tend to get over stocked when there’s offers ect. So we will top up on staples milk and bread but make do with the cupboard and freezer so we can get our spend down to around £20 for the week or less doing that
I don't view that takeaway as a fail. Between airport pickups and parent catch ups I totally get you would want something easy. Not like you are picking them up often. Out of the ordinary situation. Mabel loves your parents 😍
My husband and I have just purchased the budget spreadsheet. We sat down and filled it out. It was pretty scary but after we finished even though we have to watch our spending it was a great weight lifted off our shoulders. Looking forward to seeing how our month goes. Thank you love watching your videos xox
Also, how amazing is Easter…. You can spend $30 and make sooo many people happy 😆 It is definitely my favourite holiday. It can’t be beat. Family + food + chocolate = 😍👌
No spend challenge is much easier when you don't live so close to shops. I live 30km out of town and have no shops between here and there, so my go to for busy or late days is having frozen meals, as well as frozen pizza, and other frozen items you can just throw in the oven or air fryer and you have fake away☺️
Hey! I thought i might share but the Aldi in my area, Western suburbs of Sydney, restocks their stores on wednesday - so if i shop on a monday its almost always empty, but go in on wednesday or a Thursday and i can pretty much find everything i need there, minus 1 or 2 woolies specific items. Not sure if its the same for you in adelaide, but worth checking! Shipping Aldi only ALWAYS significantly reduces my grocery spending. Also. One of the ways me and my partner reduce our takeaway spending is by setting a rule thst if we want takeaway, we have to order it through uber etc, and the added expenses of ordering through those apps + delivery times always turns us off and we end up making food in the same rime wed wait for something to arrive!
Our fave no spend activity is beach walks with home made coffee in a keepcup, so we still get that “walking around with a cheeky coffee” feeling 😂. Also you look so lovely in blue ❤
Great vid i enjoy going to the library as a free activity can be tempting with cafe's there though. Maybe a coffee furnice to take out on walks sometimes might be handy too & snack bars in car ☺️
It sounds like your Aldi is getting shipments in on Tuesday morning or Monday night. That would explain why everything is always so low on Monday after everyone shops on the weekends. It could also be a stocking issue if you try asking they may have it in the back.
I love all you videos even downloaded the Coplenty spreadsheet and currently loving it. Im a cash stuffer so Im trying to work it into the spreadsheet and see how it works. Also silly question but does your Mac keyboard light up at all? lol mine does not, well that I'm trying to work out.
High quality content. thanks Ella. very relatable. I think it is so easy to become dependent on spending money for life satisfaction. I myself try and have no spend days to just be content in what I have on hand.
This is what I always say about buying coffee, it’s not about the taste or caffeine hit - it’s the ritual of it!! It’s honestly an act of self-care because I get a dopamine hit when I do it lmao. It’s the little things 😌☕️
You should change your settings for your everyday rewards to save up for Christmas. I always end up with $200 or so to spend at Christmas time. Buy a couple of gifts which is pretty much free because girl math
Loved this. Definitely want to try this challenge myself 😊 I’ve definitely been bad at buying coffees out 😅 thanks to a good little cafe right next door to work 😂
New subscriber here! Are you originally from somewhere else? Ive noticed differences in the way you say certain words like yoghurt and pasta and wasn’t sure if maybe you moved to Aus in the past? 😊😊
Blue shirt really brings out your eye colour. You should wear colour more often! It really suits your dark hair too 👌🏻
aw thank you so much!! 🥹🤍
