A total icon, and role model for anyone out there struggling with addiction. I recommend people listen to his interviews where he discusses what it takes to get clean. Also shout out to Johnny Knoxville, his friends, and family who never gave up on him and got him help. At the end of the day, only an addict can choose to get clean. But for some people, having friends and family who love you support you - is that extra push you need to get better.
They've been trying with Bam now too, hopefully they're successful. Or Bam just wakes up and does it himself, especially for his kid. Love Steve-O, he's truly an inspiration to me and so many other addicts out there. I highly recommend going to watch his channel, he regularly posts videos about the things mentioned here. Watching his stuff has helped me a lot in realizing life while sober can still be happy.. that may sound strange if you aren't an addict, but I'm sure plenty of people out there understand what i mean and what that's like.
@@rabbitttz you don't have to. There are plenty of affordable resources out there. I was a 10 year addict, went to meetings, attended outpatient classes that were free based on my income at the time, etc. There are always options. I'm sure money helps, but it's not impossible without it
SteveO is my biggest inspiration, im going thru the same sorta stuff he was going thru and it helps me so much hearing his stories, much love to SteveO and all that helped him and i hope everyone who is struggling with addiction can learn and be inspired by his story and make it to sobriety
This is why I found newfound respect for Steveo because he had the darkest years of his life. To be able to have friends that truly care for him from the bottom of their hearts. Help him get sober then stay sober. Not many people get this lucky. For him it's a major accomplishment. I appreciate him for that.
Patrick, thank you so much for telling this story. You spoke so much about Steve-o's yearning for attention as a result of his parent's actions. It got me thinking...what's the biggest thing that I was robbed of in childhood that I crave desperately now? Validation. Gaslighting, manipulation and control ruled my childhood. As a result, my adulthood has been filled with a yearning to hear, "I understand what you're going through," and "your decisions are valid because what you're experiencing is real." These yearnings have gotten me into big trouble: letting problematic people into my life, needing someone to back up my choices before I make them, self-doubt and over-sharing. This has never clicked for me before! Thank you for all that you do.
Steve-O is to be commended for turning his life around. I suffer from addiction been to 3 rehabs, 5150 and more. If this man can do it damn it I should be able to do it. Please keep me and other people who suffer from addiction in your thoughts.
I’ve never really been like an actual fan but I got a lot of respect for him. Everything he’s been through he still seems like a genuinely caring guy and every story I’ve heard from people that have met him has been very positive
Steveo has my utmost respect. Not many people posses the kind of strength he does, and through it all he’s remained an extremely down for earth guy who looks to make others happy. People like him truly add more light to this world
Just the fact of him being still alive & sober has proved to so many struggling with addiction that no matter how bad it actually is, it can be done because if Steve O conquered his addictions its possible for you to do it too. Im so glad Steve O came through his journey alive & well. Wishing him nothing but happiness, now & in the future.❤❤❤
the past few year i went into a dark hole myself and some nights I never expected to wake up with what I was doing to myself. watching him and Brandon as well kinda pulled me out of it.
I've met him before during his drug abusing years and it was so sad to see him so lost and run down. So so happy he's doing better, I could tell he's a great person with a wonderful soul. Thank you for this amazing video once again ❤
Steve-o seems like the most genuine person, he is such an inspiration! As someone that struggled with heroin addiction for many years, it almost brings a tear to my eyes to see the man he's become today. I'm so proud of him and I'm sure his whole family is too. You did it Steve-o! 👏 ❤️
We're lucky? The world wouldn't have noticed if he was dead. He's the one to be lucky, not us. Stop putting those disfunctional people on the pedestal.
I teared up a bit at the end of the video. The life of Steve-O is a true inspiration. Not just to recovering addicts but to everyone. Always move forward and always be better than you were the day before.
He’s always been someone I’ve felt connected to growing up and I didn’t know why. I just remember always loving him. he is a huge inspiration just because he’s still alive
Those last few uplifting minutes made me tear up. Thankfully I've never had any family or close friends who've had to deal with alcohol ot drug addictions, but I'm glad there's somebody a lot of people can look up to for that.
As someone who's had his own experiences with substance use trying to fill very similar voids... I'm so proud to see where Steve o has come in life. You can't know about "PCP saved my life" and simultaneously be blind to where this man has made it. The thing nobody talks about is when you're a successful substance user. Somebody who never spirals out of control but maintains their responsibilities and handles their shit. The spectrum of "addiction" is so underestimated and I guess I just hope anybody who is drawn to these sort of things finds true peace. I know I'm irrelevant, but God damn am I proud of this man.
This is something a lot of people don’t understand about addiction, they always think addicts are all caricature “junkies” on the streets and don’t realize most aren’t like that. They’re family, friends, random workers, etc I’ve met crack addicts who’ve been managers at factories for decades, have a lot of personal experience with addicts and even I didn’t know a friend was on heroin, he was always motivated and working, had plans to open a restaurant, genuinely kind and down to earth person, and ODed one day. Especially due to the opioid epidemic it’s brought to light addiction isn’t just the people on the street, it could be your otherwise ordinary uncle or some kind old person or a random friend you’d never suspect it from. Just look at the number of homeless and such compared to the millions upon millions of addicts in the US. It doesn’t help our system actively worsens and harms them, and pushes many into criminality. I’ve had multiple friends go from nerdy stoners to go to jail over just weed and ended up making gang connections in jail and became meth addicts, causing people to go to streets for drugs leads to connections with the worst types of people and more crime. Also adulteration and impure drugs leads to most deaths and damage, which is pretty ironic when we’re talking about dangerous drugs like heroin. The drug war failed, never impacted drug use. Like really, how many of us would go and do meth if it wasn’t illegal? I wouldn’t and you likely wouldn’t either, because it’s not the law that stops somebody from using; it’s the fact it’s meth. Somebody who’d do it is gonna do it anyway. Might as well make it safer and make it easier to reduce harm/get help. Even from a societal level it’d be helpful. It’s also do more against gangs and cartels than just about anything else.
As long as you are not strongly mentally and physically addicted to potent opioids or Benzos or an hardcore alcoholic getting sober is a walk in a park
@@hunterq4202if you can afford Pharma opioids like Oxy Opana Dilaudid etc but instead choose to shoot up street heroin I have a hard time feeling sorry for you as an opioid addict myself

I'm so glad he has gotten his life together and become an even bigger inspiration for me. I've had my own struggles and knowing everything stevo and the other jackass guys have gone through yet been able to turn it around is an amazing story that everyone who has had struggles can relate too. He's a little merch crazy now but he might actually be one of the most pure humans out there. I legitimately live by WWSOD. What would Steve-O Do. He's the best. Stevo-O is a incredible soul. And of all the people in the world I'm happiest that he found his peace, got clean and is happy with life. Iv watched him since the beginning, even at 6 years old he was my hero.
As long as you are not strongly mentally and physically addicted to potent opioids or Benzos or an hardcore alcoholic getting sober is a walk in a park . After I got sober from 400mg Oxycodone , 4OZ of Lean, 10mg of Xanax and half a gram of coke plus alcohol daily and the withdrawals started wearing of after 2-3 weeks of hell it kinda felt like I was tripping . Everything was so intense , there is even a term for it „sober euphoria“. But at the same time it feels quite a bit too overwhelming, I used to compare it too being on a bit too much Adderall, unable to relax and get some rest. If you beat that phase which lasts about 1-2 month for most people, you have pretty much overcome the wild ride.
Being a recovering alcoholic and addict myself that used to be on the path to an early grave. Steve-O is an inspiration. So glad he got his life back and I'm glad I did too. Now if only I could escape the dumb mistakes and debt I racked up during that time lol.

I am largely still sober because of this man. I look up to him so much and have followed him since I was in high school. I started using substances the same year he got sober. Steve-O has had more of an impact on who I became as an adult than my parents did. The fact that he got sober and "stayed himself" helped me so much when I was afraid to get sober because I didn't know who I was without drugs. You did a great job being respectful toward those of us who face addiction while also telling his incredibly wild story.
Reminds me very closely to my best friend Jordan, same reasons for spiraling into addiction and a over the top alcohol dependence, his dad died in his 30s from opiates overdose and alcohol, he just simply wanted to be liked and accepted by others and would drown himself in alcohol to cope, always injured and hurt from the things he would do while drunk like Steve O, but had the biggest empathic heart and would help anyone and everyone without question. He sadly passed away 2 weeks ago in his 30s just like his dad from the exact same thing an accidental opiate overdose. This reminded me so much of him. Steve is so blessed to have made it out and change. Luv all that Steve does he’s truly an awesome COOL dude lol
That's some next level redemption arc. Man went from doing every substance known to mankind to being sober for 14+years and counting. Congrats on 1M pat.

But epic video as usual my guy! Love this channel
Steve-O is proof that people can overcome addiction. It'll be extremely difficult for anyone who tries, but he also shows that it is fully worth it. I hope to God that people around the world who struggle with drug abuse and alcoholism are able to overcome just like he did.
He didn’t sneak out his dad took him to meet Motley Crue but had sky box seats but Steve didn’t want that in a Motley Crue concert so his dad challenged him to get better tickets and so he found the name of doc and docs brother picked up and confirmed he was related to Motley Crue and was impressed with Steve Os persistence so he gave him backstage passes sorry huge Steve O fan
Such a massive testimony. God really spared him. Such a miracle. Steve O is an inspiration! We ALL love him. I don’t know one single person online or in real life ever, not once, that has said something bad about Steve or didn’t like and respect him. He’s up there with the Rock when it comes to being likable and respected. 💯
Steve o was my biggest role model as a child. Still is till this day. I was too young to understand drugs let alone addiction. As I got older and listened to his stories he truly came so far into life. To this day I still watch all of his videos and most podcasts. He will forever be a true jackass and trooper and survivor. STEVEO FOREVER
My lord. After Patrick dropped how many days Steve-o have been sober, it was such a defining moment. To hear such a strong achievement, and also the many things he did after he became sober will make a man cry jus out of happiness. Patrick proves yet again how people like Steve-o and other amazing talents need their flowers while their still alive and know that their mishaps may seemed huge, but was only a small bump on the road.

Well written, especially the ending. I've been worried about the turn in your content towards documenting people's downward spirals, because I think creating negative content can be especially taxing. I like the tone of this one much more. It still felt cautionary, but a bit more caring, plus an uplifting ending.

But I also understand why it did effect him so much.
@@TheNinjaNiky bam was an addict and had those issues long before Dunns death. His first intervention was in 05. Dunn was at several of them. It’s also why Raab left as early as he did. This made me tear up, thank you for recognizing Steve-O’s strength this was a really awesome video
Love Steve-O. His addiction story and his road to recovery is absolutely incredible. He gives me hope.
Are you currently an addict? It's possible my man, i've been out of the sunken place for 10 years in November, and I started young. If you're not an addict, well then my comment is pointless lol
As long as you are not strongly mentally and physically addicted to potent opioids or Benzos or an hardcore alcoholic getting sober is a walk in a park
I do. Still struggling in active addiction and he's such a role model to get clean for me rverytime I watch something he posts
i do aswell ive been struggling with addiction problems since 13
Steve-O is a very good example of how addiction and mental health issues can be overcome if you seek/accept help
He had a lot of money for all that help

I cleaned my act up this year, and it's worth it bro. I also thought it would be impossible, but i believe in you
I believe in you too.
You got this. 5 years sober here and God damn it has been worth it!
You got this thinking about y’all
Never ever give up.
Man seeing him convulse after inhaling that stuff was just heartbreaking. I’m happy for you Steve-o!
People like him truly add more light to this world
If there’s one thing to be grateful for, it’s the fact that he’s still alive and kickin after all of the shit he put his body through.
I swear I see you in the comment section of every other video I watch. You clearly have great taste!
You are everywhere!
Forgot all about you lmfao
Just the fact of him being still alive & sober has proved to so many struggling with addiction that no matter how bad it actually is, it can be done because if Steve O conquered his addictions its possible for you to do it too.
Im so glad Steve O came through his journey alive & well. Wishing him nothing but happiness, now & in the future.❤❤❤
Technically true in a way.
the past few year i went into a dark hole myself and some nights I never expected to wake up with what I was doing to myself. watching him and Brandon as well kinda pulled me out of it.
Try J Aubrey too, also does the same kind of videos. These guys are my favorites
That video of him talking about every drug he’s done is insane we’re so lucky to have him with us today

Absolutely love him. So glad he’s in such a better place.
Immediately teared up at him saving a dog. He really is the coolest person.
We all have value and worth.
This is something a lot of people don’t understand about addiction, they always think addicts are all caricature “junkies” on the streets and don’t realize most aren’t like that. They’re family, friends, random workers, etc
I’ve met crack addicts who’ve been managers at factories for decades, have a lot of personal experience with addicts and even I didn’t know a friend was on heroin, he was always motivated and working, had plans to open a restaurant, genuinely kind and down to earth person, and ODed one day.

@@hunterq4202if you can afford Pharma opioids like Oxy Opana Dilaudid etc but instead choose to shoot up street heroin I have a hard time feeling sorry for you as an opioid addict myself

Stevo is a huge part of my childhood and adulthood. The memories I have of staying up late with my big brother watching jackass will stay with me forever. I'm so glad he has gotten his life together and become an even bigger inspiration for me. I've had my own struggles and knowing everything stevo and the other jackass guys have gone through yet been able to turn it around is an amazing story that everyone who has had struggles can relate too. I'm 30 now and honestly some of my fondest memories is watching the movies with my family and friends and laughing our asses off. Thanks for this video amazing job.
*Congrats on 1 milli, Patrick!*
Awesome job on converting all of Steve’s life. You’ve really come a far way in making short film/documentaries . Great job, brother. On the up and up we go!
I love Steve-O. I literally grew up on his content. I was 5 when Jackass came out and grew up watching everything he did. I think everyone just assumed he'd OD but he moved past it all. He's a little merch crazy now but he might actually be one of the most pure humans out there. I legitimately live by WWSOD. What would Steve-O Do. He's the best. Also I know he goes on UA-cam and reads comments on other channel's videos so if you do read this Steve, I hope your day is going good.
Dude I have been watching you since you had around 3k subs, around when you posted the Emo rap XXL list. The content has never gotten stagnant, it’s amazing to see how you’ve grown this channel. Proud to see that you’ve made it to a milli Pat, here’s to another!
Steve-O was a massive inspiration for me to get sober. I lived over half my life drunk or high, but I'm now two years sober. I even got to go see a live Steve-O stand-up comefy show with a technician of the rehab I went to.

Love to see this success story.
