Meg explores the correlation between the Threefold Nature of Work and the GTD Weekly Review®. At the center of this is the realization that the Weekly Review is not meant to assist in your catching up with work. Rather, it’s a tool meant specifically for reflecting on the work you already have completed, so you can get back in the driver's seat and find success in your future projects.

Meg is the master of the reframe.
I can easily look at the Weekly Review as a literal checklist, and then talk myself out of it because, "I don't have the time and energy to complete all the specified components, so I have an excuse to not begin."
I'm seeing that GTD is truly a "practice" toward increasing productivity in work and life. I can easily resist spending time doing required administrative work of reconciling 25 client folders (ROI recalibration), because a part of me knows I'm not doing something else, and I feel awkward. Then, I just do it, and have an energy boost of completion and clarity, and knowing that my new checklist will make it easier to keep up with ROIs going forward and not get behind.
This reclaimed energy allows time to reflect during weekly review of what was actually accomplished.
ROIs are basically documents with signatures. It's an important administrative part of social work.
Two homeless veterans housed within 5 days. Now that's worth a GTD practice to improve productivity for self and possibly others.

Oh Meg, this is HUGE! I get it! Don't use WR to get caught up clarifying and organizing and doing work. YES! Stay in reflecting mode. Don't stay in the "busy trap." I sooooo needed to hear this. Thank you so much. That reflecting piece (your racing boat story) is crucial. The time we take pays huge dividends. Yes, that's a no-brainer. If GTDF could put this into a syringe then I could inject it directly into a vein--that's the dream. Aloha, Aliman

Hi Aliman- I am so glad to hear that this video resinated for you. It certainly took me some time to stay in reflective mode during my weekly reviews as I so wanted to use that time to get caught up and also sneak in some doing time..... which I still sometimes still do. :)
