      Smart cat. Mine just like watching cat tv of birds on UA-cam.
      Maybe we could talk Emmy into making some holiday pet safe treats that humans can also eat.
      Just imagine getting to tell someone who just ate your cookie that your dog or cat loves them too. Kids would get a big kick out of sharing their treats.

    An important chocolate tip friends: Let your chocolate casings dry *upside down* so that the hemisphere openings are on the counter top. This will cause the shells to dry as the chocolate moves down towards the edges, reinforcing them, and preventing them from cracking. Do not dry them face up - you'll get thin edges and have to melt them down farther when joining them! Good luck!
    edit: I also recommend just letting them dry at room temperature. They set quickly, and more naturally that way, as the chocolate has time to flow into shallow spots.
    edit 2: please make sure your chocolate is not too warm. It should only be slightly warm, but it should be quite thick in texture. If the chocolate is very warm, it will cause too much flow, which will also produce thin edges.

    • @NejiRaven
      @NejiRaven 4 роки тому +24

      @@mayal5775 Yes. Place them upside down (on a tray/plate) in the fridge. Ideally, you should just dry them at room temperature (on the counter) as compound chocolate sets very easily. I find putting them in the fridge unnecessary. Hope that helps!

    • @Amsayy
      @Amsayy 4 роки тому +23

      Drying at room temperature also prevents cracking from the cold shock of the fridge or freezer.

      @@emmymade random thoughts after watching the entire video:
      I've been wondering about whether these work with compound chocolate for a bit now since it has a higher melting point. Glad to see that answered.
      As far as the thin rims go. when making shells for chocolates I was taught to fill the mould then flip it over after it has set slightly. That would make the rims less thin and the excess chocolate can be reused for filling the bombs or making more shells.
      Glad you made this video it's cleared up a few things I was still pondering!

      Then, for ice cubes, freeze like normal ice.
      For crushed ice too, unless you have a crusher.
      If you have a blender, just put the soda & ice in it.

    Suggestions:
    * Try and get some large glass mugs similar to a chemistry beaker with a handle so you can see the whole reaction.
    * Pour the milk in first and sit the "bomb" on top. The bottom of the chocolate will melt and the "bomb" will capsize spilling out its contents like a shipwreck.
    * Use soft marshmallows- cutting larger ones into smaller pieces. With this, you can then use an eyedropper to drop peppermint or spearmint oil onto some of the marshmallow pieces for a more minty taste. you could even soak them in alcohol for an "adult" flavour sensation.
    * Soft caramels or possibly some honey can be used as fillings for the "bomb". Your options are limited only by your imagination, I suppose.

    Compound chocolate! I knew I could depend on Emmy to give me an alternative to tempering chocolate.
    I've been making what I call latte bombs for a while now and have been looking for a way to make them look spiffy for gift giving. I'm probably just going to coat mine, tho, because my centers are just chocolate chips and butter in equal amounts; kind of a "bulletproof" latte if you pour hot coffee and hot milk over them. I use silicone ice cube molds from Ikea; you need a couple to make the drink, but they have fun, fancy, or even just plain old square shapes.

    You can bump up the chocolatiness by substituting two small homemade truffles (solidified ganache scooped up in teaspoonful sizes and rolled in cocoa powder) or two Trader Joes Cocoa Truffles for the hot cocoa mix. I haven't used powdered mix in years.

    Good idea for a inexpensive and thoughtful Christmas gift. I guess if you wanted to make coco bombs with a more intense chocolatey flavor you could add chocolate chips inside along with the coco powder mix plus marshmallows or crushed candy cains if using. Wander how well the compound chocolate would hold up to a thick chocolate syrup, because then you could make adult version like Irish coffee, peppermint schnapps, white and black Russian. I don't know just a thought while sipping a hot sake mojito. Basically hot sake with mint tea with lemongrass. Great video like always🌲

    Just a tip for anyone making holiday treats with crushed peppermint. There's a product called Candy Cane Crunch. It's literally pre crushed candy canes in a bag. If you're making a lot of treats, it comes in handy rather than unwrapping and smashing tons of candy canes.
