    We love to see it. I am especially happy to see this discussion of how diagnosis is actually a really good thing.
    People often assume that the autism label will be really bad for someone, but the reality is that somebody like us is going to have the same problems whether they have the label or not. Without the label, it's much harder for them to find solutions, and don't even understand why they have these issues. Having the diagnosis helps a lot. I'm really happy to hear that it's helping him.

    I made the same transition as Rekkles is trying to make in that I stopped trying to be 'normal' and it did wonders for me and the people I live and work with. I realized that trying to please, adjust or try to be like others actually made me a a less fun person to be around, cause it made me a stressed and frustrated person. I never got tested but it's just something that for me came with age and introspection and I think this advice is very valuable for everyone, not just people i 'the spectrum'. It's simply knowing who you are, accepting it and become a better version for yourself and a a result a better version of yourself.

      What i've learned especially from having gotten the diagnosis is that most things at least for me are connected to having control. If there's a problem that I can't get out of my head until it's resolved, it's usually because I have no control over the problem or what the person might do with the problem. Having a highly detailed schedule with little change also gives a lot of stability and control.

I also have high sensitivity to external stimuli which usually translates to not being very comfortable in places with very high noises (kinda difficult in Spain, a country notorious in Europe for having VERY loud conversations...). This has made me a "weird" person in my job and many social situations but I never bothered to do the same things as the rest, I knew from years ago what works for me and what doesn't and if I have to be the party popper, leave parties early or not go to parties at all to feel good so be it.

    • @Daniel-bs8vb
      @Daniel-bs8vb 2 місяці тому +5

      you would think so, but late diagnosis is actually quite common. Many people with level 1/high functioning autism are good at "masking", which is where you have trained yourself (often unconsciously) to act more "normal" or "neurotypical" in order to blend in and be more accepted in society. Plus, psychologists much like medical doctors are not all-knowing, and generally have a much greater understanding of a specific area of psychology/medicine. I would imagine the psychologists they hire are more trained in sports psychology than neurodivergence.

    So glad rekkles got some understanding in his life. My son is high functioning autistic too. You dont nessicarily need a to the T schedule, but an overall daily routine. With my son, he wakes up about the exact time every morning and has to have either cereal or a doughnut for breakfast, goes to school, comes home n needs an hr to unwind on his games. After that hes pretty flexable on what we do, but bed time is 9:30-10:00. If hes misses that window, it shows the following day a lot. Rekky saying its like he bsod and has to reboot was a great analogy to describe how 1 little thing can just ruin a day and you cant get it out of your head. Thats my son to a T as well. Yall have a lot in common, and im sure hell enjoy hearing this from someone with your fame rekkles. And thanks to cadreal for taking the time to share the awareness with your large following. what happened in his career? I’m a newer casual watcher so I’ve only seen rekkles in T1a

      He fell off from FNC and G2. And then goes to compete in 2nd tier league LFL I think? And still could not win that tournament. He had a big hiatus then came to T1A this year

      @@crystalvulpix20 he spent his life in fnatic, then went to G2 in 2021 and his career was never the same. he became more passive in game, lost many important games and was the target of drama with rumors of teammates not liking him in and out of game

    Ideally gamers will now stop using "autism" as a negative description of bad plays.

    I guess that explains why people had such issues working with him in the past, calling him passive aggressive and such. He's actually just not good with people.

    I have the sensation that there is a high percentage of people inside the autism spectrum in pro players, i've been told that between programmers is high, I just assumed that with pro players is too. I dream of a radical change of the work envoirment so neurodivergent people can work safely with neurotipicals people. Both will gain from that.

    The informations actually are not completely correct. There still ist the Asperger Diagnosis, and it is still used in the medical context and the ICD10 Coding system (F84.5). The thing is, that the common ppl started to think that every autistic person has Asperger. That’s why they started to use the term high functioning autism, to clarify that it’s not all the same. But in a medical context many still use the term Asperger. All though even if high functioning autism is used as a term for Asperger not every Asperger is really “high functioning” there are many Aspergers with an average or below average intelligence who need a person by there side to get the basics of there life done.

    interesting to hear to sb thinks his life is over after he gets his diagnosis. BECAUSE getting the diagnosis does not change anything at first. It just helps u to understand how u work and how ur brain works and u get some skills and shit that helps u to improve urself and live with that a little better. If u get the diagnosis u just gave it a name and therapists do know better how to help u, BUT u already hat the diagnosis ...I mean u just found out now but u lived with it even before u got it labeled by a doctor. And tbh a lot of people I know have some sort of diagnosis, even I would if I would go to a psychologist :P (I guess not the same diagnosis as Rekkless tho)

    Rekkles is a nice guy and maybe i meet next time cuz Im im the TOP Lee sin players in our Region but i have to tell him that he sucks as Supp and wanna see him playing ADC "he doesnt suck" as supp" ... cuz as a Jungler Flank Rekkles is very smooth NOT cuz of his champion pool ... he is Calm and he wait .... Some Pro players nowdays trying making plays and its pretty frustrating when someone fail .. who have no window for mistakes ... u dont wanna do mistakes at high Elo or Pro, just cuz 1 guy feels like RANDOM EGO stuff ingame. I always Like playing with or against Rekkles in SOLO .. same as Caps

      Autism is a spectrum, it means that every person in the world has ''some'' sort of it, its just that people diagnosed with Autism has tendencies that are ''more difficult'' or ''more shown'' So its generally just not understood
