I honestly hate when you start an anime and it seems promising but then half the anime is every girl falling in love with the lead. Bonus points when it’s their sister.
@@nonamestillnoname8439 it's still dumb, weird and overused. All of a sudden dating someone you grew up with and should have a sibling bond with is okay just cus your no related by blood. If you want to make a better Isakai do this. Don't use Harems and make it sci-fi. Look at the "manga" I the female robot for something unique and fun. Its basically an isakai but as soon as the other world criteria is met the rest of them is thrown out the airlock immediately past the short prologue.
I can't tell if they were trying to make a parody isekai and did it really badly, or if they didn't care what kind of isekai they were making and also did badly.
RJWalker yeah I see what you mean. They actually succeed in making something worse than sword Art Online. Because at least with THAT series. All you really needed was story & character improvements to make that better. But this one, GOOD God, there's nothing to fix without ripping out the foundations and starting over from scratch with this one to even try to make it good.
how hard is it to make an isekai where the protagonist misses their family??? like bruh they literally just lost their entire family and can’t go back??? like how aren’t they sad????
Yeah and Isekai anime that have a harm of like 5 to 9 girls in the harm and the character is just some op dude who destroys the final boss In like 3 seconds, it really gets on my nerves And the protagonist buys a slave and he's doing something "good"
From what i can tell a major requirement for being isekaid is being an antisocial psychopath who have no friend, family, pets, or even casual aquentenses that they care even slightly about to the point where they could never see them ever again and feel nothing. Hell they don't even have possessions or property they give a damn about! Childhood artifact! Who cares!! this teen from modern day being thrown into the middle ages will do fine!
It would be fresh and new if slaves weren't either female humans or female beast people. But ugly disgusting goblins or orks that everyone hate because a war or something. Then the main character actually stands up and trying to banned slavery for these slaves after realizing they actually have emotions seeing a kid crying about being separated from his parents or something like that.

@@danielramsey6141 yeah and there could be a entire arc of the main character just trying to free these slaves that don't look human. Though it would kinda be controversial if their mainly because how people would think it somehow connected to the Atlantic slave trade in America and how the slaves that are ugly are some sort of symbolism for black slaves and how it would seem racist Aka not saying its a bad idea its just that a lot of things like that has been done

When I see anime and manga like this I can never decide what the creator's intention is: is he purposefully making a pandering hot mess because it will sell; is he that creatively bankrupt and is just doing what he's seen in other examples of the genre; or is he totally invested in the world he created, and he's truly making something he's proud of, weird kinks and all?
I'd definitely read/watch if it was the third option, I'd rather see a pervert's true desires than something someone hasn't put their hearts on it, that's why there are some hentai doujins out there with more passion with many more animes.
Last one. Thats what miyazaki meant when he said anime is trash. Made by awkward nerds sitting at home and do not talk much with real people. Creeps behind a computer. Creating trash because they consume the same trash every day.
The way the red-haired guy swings his hammer drives me crazy because the hammer has no weight to it. Showing that a hammer is heavy shouldn’t be that hard. When he swings the hammer into the ground, have his upper body fall with it! Have him struggle slightly to pick it up! When he holds it to his shoulders, have it flop against one of them! Just do SOMETHING to show that the hammer has more weight than a toy mallet!
The LLHOTF Fair point. I never watched the show, so I didn’t know that 😅 I do still think they could have done more to show that the hammer was still heavy, even if the guy doesn’t find it heavy. (Edit: finished up the comment because I accidentally tapped the post button too early)
@@thellhotf7591 I haven't watched this anime, but just from the clips in this video the animation seems to be suggesting that this impractically large warhammer is lighter than the one handed sword from the woman he's fighting, so I don't think that covers it
its actually supposed to be that way, in the anime this character is supposed to be like this top 5 strongest people in existence thing (if i remember correctly) so imo, based on they way they hyped him up, had he been struggling with the hammer, it might have been a let down. this is all from memory so i might be wrong, but i do know for a fact he was super hyped up as this almost god level character.
The answer is yes, as God's first thought upon creating humans was to fear that they would be equal to him if we had knowledge of good and evil, and infinite life. So he put Adam and eve in a lose- lose situation (stay dumb and not being capable of having the concept of right and wrong, let alone make meaningful decisions, or be cursed) where the necessary knowledge to pick the option God wanted them to was locked behind failing the challenge. Oh, and then the Tower of Babel was God seeing humans work together and becoming afraid of that. God fears humanity, there is no question.
Isekai wa Smartphone us just a guilty pleasure anime who (at least) did things correctly. *This* "Anime" can't even be called an average anime and did EVERYTHING wrong.
"Yuuto starts the prologue as a narcissistic moron who gets himself killed with a cursed artifact, and by episode one he is a mercenary warlord who cheats his way to victory with his phone and also gaslights women into being his incestuous little sisters." OK that's a pretty effective villain, I wonder when the hero is going to show up?
You joke but that would be an interesting twist in an Isekai to have the big bad be someone who had the same experience as Protag-kun but gave into his worst instincts. Sure dark reflection of the hero is a bit of a cliche in itself but it’s one way to shake up the formula
An isekai with a villain protagonist (think Light Yagami pretending to be Kirito) sounds like it would be really interesting, as an added bonus if the female harem members were in fact manipulative psychopaths with really interesting characterization (think like Fllay Allster and Katejina Loos), it could result in a genuinely great black comedy anime.
@@UltimatePerfection Overlord? Ohh, that Overlord. @@oswaldfriedman7116well, there actually quite a lot of harems and harem-adjacent anime that have a single mom as a love interest. The problem? The age of the MC
Juan Pablo Robayo The psychological effect that makes the idea of having sex with sibling(blood-related or otherwise)repulsive is triggered if the siblings meet each other at a very young age.
@@MV96_ I'm sure that was supposed to be a joke. And #2 they didn't meet at a younger age. Their "sibling" relationship is a week or two old as far as I remember. #3 although she's calling him brother, that's not really what this is about. This "family" is similar to the concept of something like families in godfather. Being his sister in this context just means they're part of the same group which in this case is his kingdom. More brothers, sisters, sons and daughters means he's expanding his kingdom. That being said, this isn't incest but still it's a poor choice of words. In such a culture, it'd be hard for people to form a real sibling relationship
10:20 I'm shocked they made him physically weak. That's an actual character weakness. So he isn't COMPLETELY op. I would have thought that he'd collect harem girls and when they're in danger he'd pull out his secret cool fighting skills he's kept hidden for some reason. Then the girls would be like "omg he's the best I love big brother master teacher father" or whatever.
While I too am shocked that they actually made him weak, I still wouldn’t call that an actual character flaw. His weakness never factors into the story, it never causes problems and he never overcomes it, so this ‘flaw’ is basically the equivalent of saying that a Mary Sue is ‘too nice’.
What’s funny is that him still being physically weak after spending 2 whole years in this world and starting a whole Warrior’s guild would be a pretty good way to show that he uses his smartphone as a crutch, but the writer just doesn’t even seem to realize this fact.
Can we get an isekai where instead of the MC learning about a whole new world's history, culture, language etc. stupidly and impossibly quick, we instead get him to see him be homesick, miss his friends and family from earth, be completely baffled to the new world's culture and *question why he is in the fantasy world in the first place* and try to get back home.
What really gets under my skin is how all the names and theming are Norse, but all the designs are Mediterranean, mixed with a pretty clearly huge inconsistency in what level of technology they're actually supposed to be at, which as a history major who likes to actually understand what the fuck is going on and what they're supposed to be capable of really sets my fucking eye twitching. Like, if this is supposed to be the distant past, then where and when is it supposed to be, this is the most basic thing you need to establish if your setting is in a part of real history
Uh, no, it's was probably something like Mashin Hero Wataru. Which is, uh... 30 years old. But it's not a harem isekai show, so I guess it's a different sub-genre.
I have a cousin that hates anime. She watched FMA Brotherhood and loved it, and is currently obsessed with My Hero Academia, but she still says she hates anime. She's 22, so it isn't a matter of just being a stubborn kid, but I think shows like this are why she is the way she is. She couldn't possibly be an anime fan if THIS is what's aimed at anime fans.
The whole appeal of isekai is watching someone learn about and adapt to a new environment and culture. It's been the backbone of good isekai since the genres inception. The only way you could skip over that and make it work is to have the hook be that it skips to them returning to their own world, and the plot revolves around them reacclimating to what we consider mundane.
Okay the whole toe-sucking thing was aggressively weird. There was white stuff on the toe that was obviously saliva but it was too solid and colored to look otherwise. Why? But why? *Why?*
@@axel-1671 Easy. They like money, and hormonal Japanese teen males will pay for this shit. Go look up what %age of Japanese men (and women, while you're at it) are still virgins at 30. It's horrifying
@TheFandrian I'd have to assume that at some point Japanese culture will respond, and the problems in their society that are causing the dismal birth rates will be seriously addressed, because otherwise yes, the Japanese will eventually just disappear from the human population of Earth. It will definitely take time, because Japan is still essentially ruled by a very insular group, heavily influenced by pre-WWII era politics and ideas, but eventually they will die off and genuinely new ideas and policies will have a chance of succeeding. The signs of change are already there (the recent lowering of the voting age to 18 was an attempt, if largely unsuccessful, to involve younger voters in politics. With the low birth rate and the pretty standard disinterest of the young in politics in general, older voters have disproportionate power and they aren't that interested in lowering the burdens on the young, at their own expense. Quelle surprise), the old faction system is crumbling, and the keiretsu are steadily losing power as Japanese commercial and industrial power fades in a more competitive world economy. Eventually, as the more open-minded younger generations get to positions of actual power in politics and commerce / industry, change will happen, and in the end, I'd bet that Japan will choose more openness over national suicide. It won't be quick, or easy though
@TheFandrian You're confusing the Japanese government with the Japanese people. As I said, the power in Japan is still in the hands of the older generations (70+), who still have a very pre-WWII mindset. Younger Japanese are much more outward looking, consume Western media, wear Western clothes, and increasingly embrace Western ideals. Yes, it will still take a long time for that to translate to changes in national policy, but Abe has succeeded in bringing more women and foreigners into the workforce, for instance, and as the demographic trends aren't going to reverse any time soon, ALL Japanese politicians are going to have to increasingly take notice of what they want. Eventually, the demographic imbalance will go away, because even Japanese people die eventually, longer average lifespans or not, and those who are left will have to choose between fitting in with the rest of the world and watching Japan truly die, and they won't be quite so against fitting in, because they do understand the rest of the world at least a little better than their grandparents and parents generations. Self preservation of the person and the group is just about the most deep rooted instinct in all humans, even the Japanese

here's an idea for an anime. Some open world game is in the process of development and is nearly ready to be pushed out to market. Problem is, it is ludicrously buggy from various clipping issues as well as sound issues and graphical errors. The story takes place from the point of view of an NPC within the game as s/he becomes self aware to notice these issues with the game, and essentially needs to avoid openly expressing his identity for fear of being deleted from the game in development while at the same time trying to survive by exploiting the glitches.
So the main character has no real motive in the story? He only wants to hide, that's it? It's a teensy weensy bit really weak when he's only a mass of code that is glitching and trying to keep glitching.

After hearing the basic plot, I feel like I could make a better concept with the same premise. So let’s assume that the same things happen, he takes a selfie, transports, get magic girls to accept him as the greatest and the two year time skip. Let’s say the girl he was with, after a guy went missing suddenly and she was the only witness, tries to do the same he did to go and find him. Either to clear her name from the main suspect in the disappearance of a man in a forest with only one other person around or to just grab him to have her friend back, or the time of the incident actually being two years or time works differently, could honestly go either way. But she gets there and finds that he’s become a dictator. With his phone, and Wikipedia, he’s overthrown the dark lord that all fantasy generics have, and like most liberators in ancient eras tended to do, made himself king. As it’s been two years and he now has anime girls at beck and call, he rejects her attempts to bring him back, and declares her a public enemy. So the story changes from his point of view to her point of view, trying to defeat a dictator and bring him home.
That does sound good. I would actually love to see someone take that idea. The only thing I would want to change though was probably the timeline. Instead of just two years maybe extended it a bit. It seems like an awfully short amount of time someone to become a successful and stable dictator.

Here's how you fix a train wreck of a harem anime. 1.) Take the budget for the whole show. 2.) make two decently animated Hentai ovas 3.) ????? 4.) Profit!
There is such a dearth of actually decently-produced, technically-competent hentai animations. Like, there's a lot being made, and they still tend to be a bit better than what we think of as 'pornos' with live actors and plumbers and pizza boys and all that. But if somebody were to take the production quality of even a mediocre actual non-h show, and use that on h content, it would be received as god-tier and probably make a /lot/ of money. I don't know if it would rake in as much as a traditional full season of 'proper broadcast anime', but it would probably be cheapter to do, too, so it would be like making an indie game profitable versus something from the """""""""""AAA"""""""""" industry or something idk.
Cheaper than a full season of high quality anime? Sure. But still astronomically more expensive than the shoe-string budget of most hentai. The market for hentai is much smaller meaning that maxing quality hentai is a huge financial risk. The creator would more or less be gambling on the idea that thier work somehow becomes a fast cult hit, and that's not something that can be predicted.
I mean, if my little sister said that i would only smile at her saying "Aww..." (most) Kids are innocent, so she saying that would make me realize how much she loves me.

Here's how this works: Anything better than a 4/10 is worth watching for its quality. Anything less than a 2/10 is worth watching for the experience. Don't touch 3/10, its not worth it. Since this show is a hard 1/10. You gotta watch it; It's an experience. - just maybe don't be sober.
You can even still have the magic powers and potentially fulfilling social role. Just have the theme be clear: "all that is cool, but leaving behind your upbringing is still hard and something that requires real effort to emotionally process." Allegorically, its like going to college across the country, or perhaps enlisting in the military. Unless your background was awful, thats a lot of stuff you are leaving behind, and will probably want to see again eventually once the thrill of newness wears off.

9:36 why does that guy use a hammer on horseback? Hammers have high momentum, meaning that if you swing one on horseback you’ll fling yourself of your hose. There is a reason why mounted combat is usually done with along stabbing weapon like a lance or halbert.
Warhammers were used in mounted combat (not that size, of course, and only the one-handed version) and for a time were more dominant than swords. It is rather easy to maintain your position. The momentum isn't that great, and you could basically stand on the stirrubs. Polearms, like the halberd, were never used on horseback, because they require both hands and the movement would be hindered too much by the horse. (Polearms were formation-weapons, which were also good for stopping cavalry charges) Lances were only used for charges, since their form made them impracticale for real combat. But, spears were used often and for a really long period.

Y'all do know one of the arguably most important slots in the harem is the "rival" slot. It's a literal slot that adds conflict by making a guy that is attractive and makes the main character (and audience) have feelings of inadequacy which is basically only done so they can push a moral that looks aren't everything, but some of the best shows use this to even more good points. In fact most of the best harem animes have more than the two basic slots of "rival" and "best friend" This show is lacking both not because it's a logical conclusion (Infinite Stratos, for what its worth, can't have male characters in the harem for lore's sake) but because the writer is insecure and childish and afraid that introducing such characters will get in the way.

That's why gods send heroes from another world to their own, they fear their own world to solve its problems

I like the idea of isekai. I like the idea of someone being taken out of the real world and into either a fantasy or the past and seeing how they react to it. I loved Escaflowene, Fushigi Yugi, Red River, inuyasha, No game no life, Re:zero, Kunosuba, ECT. I even enjoy some of the fluffy trash ones (I rufuse to say which title because I'm embarrassed. Why aren't we getting more parodic Iseikai anime? I want to see one where the dude shows up and expect to get tons of hot girls but can't get any travel companion other than buff dudes and fujoshis who ship them together. Or a show where two Isekai protagonist end up in the same world and just keep trying to overshadow each other to comedic effect?
That second one sounds good.
Or one where the protagonist is a dnd bard
Or just an Isekai done properly, with an actual story, proper character development and progression, reasonable interactions and not a wish-fulfillment fic written while the "author" was fapping to images of himself as he imagines he'd look if he was not garbage.
Undrave well Konosuba has been close enough to parodic. Although the show still has protagonist gets the girls to love him.
I really don't get the hype Konosuba gets. Once you look past the repetitive humor, it's just another crappy Isekai.

Some isekai protagonists level grind themselves until the game breaks. Some milk divine charity to get more and more neat little gifts until they're unstoppable. Some...look up tactics on Wikipedia.
It would be a cool gimmick... but it seems like they didn't do it right, here.
Not to mention it's hardly conceivable that he could teach this tactic to his entire army in such a short amount of time. Then there's the fact he seems to be revolutionising their economy in ways that he really shouldn't be able to find so easily that he can change it in the span of 2 years.
I wouldn't be surprised if that's how the writer came up with the story, look it up on Wikipedia
the tactics are not that hard to play in actual battle, the trops only need to know what to do with what signal. And to be honest it whould be a good gimick if done right, but heh, not here

here's an idea for an anime.

If outlawing slavery would've caused too much of an uproar, then he could've at least set the mother and daughter free after buying them and hired them as servants.
And not drag the daughter to the hotsprings.
he BOUGHT them. he is giving money to support continue enslaving more people. it doesn't matter to the slaver what the buyer does with the slaves after the slaver gets payed. He is just going to use the money to acquire more and continue the slave trade.
jjr9128 tha alternative to enslavement was death. Them's the Bronze Age rules. Now, there is nothing stopping him from going against the very basis of the society he operates in, but then he would actuqaly have to grow a character and face real challenges, ala Yankee at the Round Table. Apparantely we can have thag in a modern isekai harem.
I have to say that sounds amazing
That does sound good. I would actually love to see someone take that idea. The only thing I would want to change though was probably the timeline. Instead of just two years maybe extended it a bit. It seems like an awfully short amount of time someone to become a successful and stable dictator.

I don't think so as the names are Nordic not creatian Greece or Mesopotamian. So I even dought that its even set in the bronze age earth to begin with.

What angers me the most of this series, other than the generic art-style, forgettable story and stupid premise/justification(the commander of the defeated armies call the commander victorious army "father" and there is a suspicious amount of defeated girl commanders) is that main characters like "I don't want a harem because I have a girl at home uwu" but he keeps collecting girls
I agree. I just started it and honestly I'm out of my mind. What a ridiculous plot and story it has. Also the so called Father or Brother relationship kinda thing having a sex appeal. Totally weird.
Here's how you fix a train wreck of a harem anime.
1.) Take the budget for the whole show.
2.) make two decently animated Hentai ovas
3.) ?????
4.) Profit!
NotTheWheel but please uncensored :D
Is their any other kind ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
There are hentai out there with a deeper story than some anime. Thats the sad part.

9:36 why does that guy use a hammer on horseback?
Hammers have high momentum, meaning that if you swing one on horseback you’ll fling yourself of your hose.
There is a reason why mounted combat is usually done with along stabbing weapon like a lance or halbert.
Well cavalrymen did use blunt weapons like maces and hammers in history... Just not a ridiculous one like in this show though
(Polearms were formation-weapons, which were also good for stopping cavalry charges)
Lances were only used for charges, since their form made them impracticale for real combat. But, spears were used often and for a really long period.

Actually the funny part of Overlord is all of Nazaricks women want Ains so badly, a fact that is contrasted with the fact they're ALL varying degrees of evil with few exceptions
Entoma wants to butcher EvilEye
Solution sees killing people as a fun reward
In fact most of the Maids are sadistic as fark
Shalltear is so dangerous Demiurge wouldn't trust her with any heavy lifting during the Restize battle
And as funny as Albedo humping Ains was, she's literally stronger then him and she's apparently not the strongest one of her three sisters
Donald Shrump it's just rape there's nothing "reverse" about it.
I apologize to SAO. At least SAO can look good.

This honestly makes me feel better as a writer. If this absolute shit can get an anime then my slightly better shit fanfics might get me an oscar or something.
autisonm You know, I never really was into writing. I've got some ideas for fanfictions, discussed some with friends, somehow got some stories going, but I never thought of writing them down for anyone else.
This thing might just get me to do it just because "I can't do worse than FUCKING THIS"
If you ever want tips for writing you can just ask me. I know a few good channels.
Yeah, I had the same thought just now. I feel like I'm a bad writer, but I think even I can't screw up _this_ much lol
Ur coment made my day lmaoo truee
All of the characters are just “not” versions of other better characters
7:51 Here we have “Not Darkness” for example
17:09 Ok so we have “Not Natsuki”
NOT GILGAMESH (plus NOT ISKANDAR'S colors)
natsuki?
@@lolimsooedgy7809 from DDLC I think
"Look, i get it. You're tired of good anime characters"
So its like a dollar store knock off of overlord where everyone is albedo's aborted sisters with 144 resolution and the main character isn't intresting
Okay, firstly, solution deserves way more respect than being labeled as harem trophies. Now if you said that each of the girls combined are 1/10th of solution, shalltear, and albedo however.
but the mc aint even op.
@@IamINERT well neither is the he a good and interesting character but here we are
I want Isekais to start adding male love interests. If every being on earth is in love with this mid looking guy than why aren’t the guys in love with him too?!? If they wanna be different they could at least try and be different
i want bl isekai anime so much, they really should adapt corporate slave one, beasts giving love is probably too weird for an anime adaptation, but i would also welcome it
Because the people who enjoy Isekai and the people who like Yaoi have a VERY small intersection.
@@zuttoaragi8349 Not as small as one may think
I think My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom is an isekai with love interests of multiple genders. The protagonist is a girl, so it might not be exactly what you’re describing, but there is at least one bi isekai harem anime out there.
@@tsifirakiehl4250 not really love interest, just fans.
All females in the anime, just like other oi are only blind appreciators of the fl, nothing else.
Looks like Berserk 2016 if the Black Swordsman was Kirito. And if Rape Horse wrote the script.
Underrated comment right here.
Sambou Jaiteh holy shit. What a great description
That.....is a spot on analogy.
It's not that bad... Rape Horse would have made MUCH better harem stuff then this!
Damn.
MB: "Yuuto himself is not so much a character as he is a cypher for the audience. A vehicle through which they can vicariously have their wishes fulfilled."
Who tf would ever wish for this shit?
Young Japanese males. That's who these series are marketed to anyway, and there doesn't seem to be any end to them.
Xanegoh I’m talking about his horrid series specifically, not the Isekai genre as a whole.
@@dank_smirk2ndchannel200 I mean, it's hard to say. MORBOE is a prototypical LN series, and really you can swap out it with any other and not even notice. It's so generic and bland.
Xanegoh yeah, there are some bad, bland, and boring LN series out there, but when it comes to MORBOE it’s in an entire class of shit on it's own.
the dreaded combination of a lolicon and siscon
"Jerky confident guys who all die instead of being given a chance to submit to the wold clan [...] for some reason."
You know exactly why the buff dudes have to die.
they would steal the mc's girls?
@@halinaqi2194 exactly
@@halinaqi2194 this is a harem show, all the girls must only have one love interest.
Nisekoi, Girls of the Wilds and Negima does not count
@@luizfelipevbf5567 Negima isn't really a harem comedy anyway. It's a magical combat/adventure story that Ken Akamatsu had to pretend was a harem romp at first because his editors wanted Love Hina But With Wizards.
In fact most of the best harem animes have more than the two basic slots of "rival" and "best friend"
This show is lacking both not because it's a logical conclusion (Infinite Stratos, for what its worth, can't have male characters in the harem for lore's sake) but because the writer is insecure and childish and afraid that introducing such characters will get in the way.
2:09 My favorite part of the anime was when he said “It’s morboe time” and morboed all over the place. Truly one of the anime of all time
Anime Fan: "Man.. every isekai I have watched so far were bad. Is it even possible to make it worse?"
The Master of Ragnarok & Blesser of Einherjar: *"Hold my beer."*
if you've watched a ton of isekai, try konosuba, a comedy parodying all of them.
God bless Konosuba, Re:Zero and Overlord, they still show that Isekai can be fun thing, instead of *looks at MORBOE and Iphone and other shit made purely for profit* ... that
How not to summon a demon Lord is good
SAO is better than MORBOE
_Change my mind_
I'm pretty sure that is hard to contest atm.
Who’s gonna say no? There is nothing lower than MORBOE
Morboe is a complete shitfest. Sao is a slightly less complete shitfest.
Mmm... SAO has multiple seasons to suffer through?

Honestly I myself can't excuse the "it's a comedy so the fight scenes don't have to look great" when things like Dragon Maid exist with stellar fight scenes
And maid dragon is voted as "best fight scene" by Crunchyroll
I've seen the BEST action in those silly goofy light-hearted shows. Nichijou goes absolutely insane in the best possible way
