I've loved your series on these! Using the dot cards and swatching videos I made a 30 pan palette that is almost totally different from yours! It just goes to show how individual tastes vary 😊 I used the wooden box from the only set I bought entire (Shire) to make a separate granulating palette. They are certainly fun to play with! I also included in my set some of the colors Schmincke used to make these and a couple of my favorite single pigment granulating colors.
I think it's always so interesting to see what palettes people create for themselves. I find I ofter trial other people's palette colours or layouts for a few days when I'm in a creative rut.
I am appreciative of your series on how to mix the Schmincke Supergranulation colours, as well as this final overview and comparison. I bought the 40 dot set over a year ago (minus the Haze and Urban sets) and finally swatched them out yesterday. And I was underwhelmed by most of them. I found any of the pigments containing PY159 (volcano yellow) a pain to re-wet and get to any kind of intensity, and after watching a few other reviews on YT, I'm not the only one. I doubt I would buy tubes of the ones I like (which are in line with your final list) but it is good to have someone whip up a few recipes so I can dupe them if I feel the need. Merry Christmas and happy new year, btw!
I’m glad you enjoyed it. It was my Mom collecting the paints that made me realize how similar some of the colours were and that I wanted to do a series swatching them all. I find that Volcano Yellow doesn’t activate well but the Winsor & Newton version is lovely.
fantastic work, watched tll the end ❤❤❤
Thank you so much
This was such an interesting series. I don't always know where I want Super Granulation but admit they are out of the ordinary.
I'm glad you enjoyed it, it was such a fun series to create. I find that I use them most often to "cheat" texture in skies and oceans.
