This is a very welcome discussion . I'm still mixed on how I feel. On first view of Ruby Road I remember getting up at the crack of dawn Boxing Day ( here in Australia). First viewing I loved it! After maybe 5 complete viewings ( & a few cherry picked highlights) I'm on the fence. As a fan since 1963 I'm amazed at how low key I am about the premiere on the weekend. Don't get me wrong I WANT to love it. Dan & Kyle's views are very valid and very much in the headspace I'm at now. I love that Type40 is around so we can all vent or celebrate Doctor Who.I look forward to a lively discussion post show.

My interest in the series hit zero, but happy listening to you guys and I hope you get a lot of enjoyment from whatever you watch! I can't tolerate negativity based on sex, sexuality and skin colour, and although I think they are acting mostly on noble intentions, injustices of that nature create such a viceral, negative reaction, I'd rather just have nothing to do with Dr Who anymore. I never would have believed we would "progress" to this point, in sci-fi of all things.
Lovely to see Kyle. And Dan, you and Charlotte of course. I do like Charlotte's point about the outside comments of the actors. I can ignore, those, depending. Older actors who were young in a favorite movie or TV show can be ignored today. A good example is Mark Hamill. Being called names, telling people the show is not for them, and other insults dampen my enthusiasm considerably. RTD's disdain for half of the planet's population and Ncuti's pathetic comments may have turned me off had i not been checked out already. The Timeless Children and RTD's "mission" has drawn a firm line I cannot cross. Ian and I are basically in the same spot for similar reasons. Although, as long as the Doctor is male, I don't care about any of the other demographic considerations.

Hard to believe Ncuti's casting was revealed exactly two years ago this weekend. Looking forward to the story finally continuing in just under 72 hours (iPlayer) or 90 hours (BBC1). Yes, I never missed Telly Addicts! We never intended leaving it so long to review Ruby Road. But with hindsight, it worked out for the best. I was a little generous to this, giving out my score. As it was *Christmas! ( I go easier on the Xmas specials )
Who the hell was that bloody hell. He's a classic example of new who fan's. Watched about 5 minutes couldn't do it. He makes Dr freedom look like nerdrotic.
Are you referring to Kyle Wagner, on the show? Kyle is the original co-creator of Type 40, with me. An experienced and respected podcaster, across multiple shows. And a good friend. he's nothing like that numpty Doctor Freedom. He enjoyed the episode and has a generally brighter outlook. He's not partisan or aggressive in any way. He respects the views of others. As do we all at type 40. Dan
Kyle is a lovely person. His insights are always interesting and fair. He's allow to enjoy the program if he wants. I don't understand any of your comparisons, especially since you didn't watch the whole thing. I hope you might give it another chance. If not, that's fine.
I thought it was an ok episode , but i just couldn't get past Ncuti's performance as the Doctor. Millie was by far the stand out star in that episode . You can't judge a series on a xmas special , so I'm trying to keep an open mind, despite the nonsense of late .
