Yesssss girl I’m in hospitality management! I’m finishing with my hotel and restaurant management AAS degree at a community college in May, then Bachelors at University of Memphis in hospitality and Resort Management!! I LOVE THE FIELD! I work at The Guest House at Graceland and I meet celebs everyday. It makes you appreciate your city more too. I’m hopefully moving on in the next several years to an internship too!
Work hard Man. Once you become manager you will realize it’s not so fun anymore to work overtime without being compensated. The people you manage will make more money than you. Now people will tell you it’s a little step backwards to make a leap forward. Still you need money to live. Trust me go into sales, revenue management, or accounting. Do hotel operations during your undergraduate. Still you need to experience what the front desk agent has to go through or a steward washing dishes.
Awesome! I feel many hotel college students feel the same way. I went to hotel college too after 10 years after graduating and being judged just as you explained and experiencing different types of work over the years. I’ve realized that doing hotel work is hard work and requires a love and a passion for it. Keep it up, good thing you realize it now. Hotel work is a great career and something worth living for.

Very passionate about hospitality and I'm an MMH candidate at Cornell, doing it online now :-) Even though I have an undergrad degree in business and also have an MBA, I'm investing in a career in hospitality, why?? Cause it's in my heart, I love engaging with people just like any hospitality enthusiast would do. The best thing working for this industry is "We" the hospitality personnel, have the ability to turn someone's day around. I'm sure you know what I mean by that. Hi Lilia I'v graduated from hospitality management 5 years ago (oh my!) ... And you spoke my mind in exactly what I experienced and why I chose to study hospitality management. Funny enough I've actually also studied all science classes in high school yet ended up with hospitality management 😂😂 .. I've only realised I wanted to study it in my second half of my senior year.. but i never regret doing so because as you mentioned it became handy while studying hospitality! ;) Thank you for sharing your experience and I wish you all the best!

Actually, I have a dream to become a graduate student at Cornell University majoring in Hotel Administration since I undergo a radical shift in my major/profession. I'm in the strategic position in tourism industry in Indonesia. Hopefully with hard work and diligence, I hope I could get the scholarship there. Please continue your UA-cam videos. Tell you the truth, I'm learning all the subjects that you listed, such as accounting, developmental language in cognition, macroeconomics, monetary and fiscal policy, microeconomics, corporate finance, advertising, applied marketing, and the list goes on. Please stick to your Food Processing Professor that Cornell students should inspire to aspire others. God bless you. I on the other hand am a 45 yr old who is truly considering the Hospitality Certificate the school offers, however was trying to see if I can get some info on other people who might be around my age and starting the program as well. If you can find out any info on the certificate program I would appreciate it.
Honest question to anyone that can answer! Do you think Hospitality management is worth it in the long run? Do you think if I major in that alongside with a minor or double major in business, I will be successful and rich in the future? My mother is very traditional and only wants me to be a doctor, engineer, or lawyer but I don't want that. But then I'm also scared of failure, so anyone please feel free to reply.

Daniel Castro No, the portal will not update until late March I think. I got my acceptance letter yesterday and on it says that the portal and financial aid stuff will be sent later this month or in April.

I'm a junior in high school and I have become very interested in the Cornell Hotel School! However, I don't have any experience in the hospitality industry. I was wondering what high school hospitality experience/internships you had and how to get them?
