Thank you! I’ve never actually stayed in a hotel in Chengdu. But I’d recommend downloading the app Trip.com, which I’ve used for other cities in China before. Of course like other apps, there’s a rating system so you can get an idea of where you want to stay before booking! 🙌🏻
I visited cheng du chong qing n Guang zhou a few weeks back, and 1 thing struck me is the very heavy police presence in almost every street, esp in the tourist & crowded areas.. very heavy.. safe? or more of control ??

Tinafu Square is the old city centre so it is not that busy. Go to 高新区 if you want to see a more modern side of Chengdu. Also, if you want to have some autehntic werstern food, visit 桐梓林，where there is a large community of expats. Enjoy your life in Chendgu😃
