@@akuma4u I have found that Corrections setting can have a "para military" feel. We expect people to come prepared to be professionals. We expect Officers in uniform to appear pulled together. You can show you're ready/capable of that by coming to the interview dressed presentable. I've been in interview panels where we look at the shoes. Does the belt match the shoes? Does the tie match the shirt? Your demonstrating your capable of presenting yourself in a certain manner. Some people really do look at the details. Good Luck!

@@derrekdillard9047 walked into the room, in the middle of the room they had one chair and a table for me to sit at while the two officers were sitting across the room up on the stage with a camera facing my way, a little intimidating, interviewed with ALL the questions in this video. Thanks to this video I knew what to say! Sadly they didn’t go through with hiring me because I was honest about my last marijuana use that happened New Years 2020. Was told to come back in July and to contact the officer directly. Right now I’m looking for a different job because I need to make income in the months in between. I suggest pausing the video after each question and giving your answer. Then listen to his answer and then answer it again for yourself out loud. It's good to see if your initial instincts line up and then hear more precise ways to give the answer you were thinking about.

Maybe 3 of these questions were asked out of 13 I’m 19 and was my first interview I was not prepared for majority of the questions so I really hope you do more research on the rest of your interviews but I watched 7 so it’s not just you

Hello I had a question regarding filling out a resume for corrections position, i’ve had about six jobs, but about three of them I’ve only worked A few weeks at, and I’ve had a job where I’ve worked one day at, i left those jobs, my question is even if my past jobs I’ve worked less then a month , should I still include them on my work experience for my resume even though it was for a day? I'm always intrigued by the correctional officer position. While I do appreciate the industry, I always wonder why someone would willingly choose to do that job? Why not a police officer? Why not a whole other field. It just seems like a lot of danger and definitely on the low level of law enforcement. I was talking to a former California correctional officer one time, and she was saying that she's being gassed inmates have flashed her, and other things she was saying that I couldn't believe And I told myself man had this lady gone to school and got a better education she probably wouldn't have needed to have to deal with all that abuse I. There certainly has to be ways of making a better living without subjected oneself to all that. don't know it just makes me wonder
Corrections Officer and Police officer positions have different qualifications lol many CO jobs you need only a high school diploma or equivalent. You can land a CO job right out of High school. To become a police officer, many of the positions I have looked into, require some college, say 60 semester hours and to obtain and attend a police Training courses and gain certification. Also, the process is very detailed.. Psychological evaluation, polygraph, etc... Much easier to become a CO. Many people can make a career out of both, and the promotional opportunities are vast in these professions. Lastly, why would you concern yourself with someone else's career choice and life decisions? Many people are Officer's and still have college educations, I know it's difficult to comprehend. It's definitely not a job for the weak minded.
@@nilewebber190 it looks like you're taking great offense to my comment. Had you read what I was saying, I became intrigued on why someone would want to do that based on HAVING TALKED to former COs.. After someone told me what they'd been through on the job I thought to myself why would anyone choose that job intentionally. You certainly can make a much better living without subjecting yourself to all that that's all I said. And I am not concerned nor do I lose any sleep over someone else's willing to make a living being a CO I just would want better for myself and my kids. And as for your comment about police officers, I'm assuming you're referring to local police officers. But in my state of California you can get hired, with just a high school diploma or GED as a police officer locally. Now if you want to progress to a detective or something like that you may need higher education or experience sometimes makes up for that.I've known people that have gone into Police department on just a high school education. Now on the state level, what we have here what's called highway patrol, that is a lot harder to get into. It's a more thorough background investigation almost like a special agent with the FBI what can get you hired on the local police officer level will get you disqualified as a California highway patrol. That's why you rarely if ever see corruption or hear of it in the California highway patrol but it is fairly common on the local level And lastly I will touch on your comment of "not for the weak minded", it's not that at all. Why would I and most normal people subject ourselves to the abuses of working in a prison spending 10 to 12 hours a day there when I can and do make much more money than an average CO and I don't have the alcohol problems, marital problems and other issues that comes with this profession that COs HAVE THEMSELVES told me. Good day
Many of us make over $100,000 per year. 3-5 weeks of vacation each year. Benefits. Retirement pension. Just like a Soldier (I am also retired from the US Army) or Marine, we don't expect many to understand our choice of profession.@@victerzian7877

Hello I had a question regarding filling out a resume for corrections position, i’ve had about six jobs, but about three of them I’ve only worked A few weeks at, and I’ve had a job where I’ve worked one day at, i left those jobs, my question is even if my past jobs I’ve worked less then a month , should I still include them on my work experience for my resume even though it was for a day? Or month? My current job I have been at for almost a year, what’s your opinion on this?
Yes, I would include them. You could put brief details why you left early next to the job position on your resume if you want to. Good luck!

@@recon2279 There are plenty of formats where you highlight the job skills and low light dates. If it was long enough ago years should be fine.

It's very different. Case work had to do with classification and programming. The other is more about safety and security.

I'm always intrigued by the correctional officer position. While I do appreciate the industry, I always wonder why someone would willingly choose to do that job? Why not a police officer? Why not a whole other field. It just seems like a lot of danger and definitely on the low level of law enforcement.
I was talking to a former California correctional officer one time, and she was saying that she's being gassed inmates have flashed her, and other things she was saying that I couldn't believe And I told myself man had this lady gone to school and got a better education she probably wouldn't have needed to have to deal with all that abuse I. There certainly has to be ways of making a better living without subjected oneself to all that. don't know it just makes me wonder

Corrections Officer and Police officer positions have different qualifications lol many CO jobs you need only a high school diploma or equivalent. You can land a CO job right out of High school. To become a police officer, many of the positions I have looked into, require some college, say 60 semester hours and to obtain and attend a police Training courses and gain certification. Also, the process is very detailed.. Psychological evaluation, polygraph, etc... Much easier to become a CO. Many people can make a career out of both, and the promotional opportunities are vast in these professions. Lastly, why would you concern yourself with someone else's career choice and life decisions? Many people are Officer's and still have college educations, I know it's difficult to comprehend. It's definitely not a job for the weak minded.
@@nilewebber190 it looks like you're taking great offense to my comment. Had you read what I was saying, I became intrigued on why someone would want to do that based on HAVING TALKED to former COs.. After someone told me what they'd been through on the job I thought to myself why would anyone choose that job intentionally. You certainly can make a much better living without subjecting yourself to all that that's all I said. And I am not concerned nor do I lose any sleep over someone else's willing to make a living being a CO I just would want better for myself and my kids.
And as for your comment about police officers, I'm assuming you're referring to local police officers. But in my state of California you can get hired, with just a high school diploma or GED as a police officer locally. Now if you want to progress to a detective or something like that you may need higher education or experience sometimes makes up for that.I've known people that have gone into Police department on just a high school education. Now on the state level, what we have here what's called
highway patrol, that is a lot harder to get into. It's a more thorough background investigation almost like a special agent with the FBI what can get you hired on the local police officer level will get you disqualified as a California highway patrol. That's why you rarely if ever see corruption or hear of it in the California highway patrol but it is fairly common on the local level
And lastly I will touch on your comment of "not for the weak minded", it's not that at all. Why would I and most normal people subject ourselves to the abuses of working in a prison spending 10 to 12 hours a day there when I can and do make much more money than an average CO and I don't have the alcohol problems, marital problems and other issues that comes with this profession that COs HAVE THEMSELVES told me. Many of us make over $100,000 per year. 3-5 weeks of vacation each year. Benefits. Retirement pension. Just like a Soldier (I am also retired from the US Army) or Marine, we don't expect many to understand our choice of profession.@@victerzian7877
