his backing vocals are really good in the rise of the chaos wizards too, I wish they still played that song live
When you're doing a huge show like this, you're going to wear your voice out very quickly, especially playing for such a huge crowd, trying to use all of that stage. When I perform, there are days I smash it, and other days where my voice won't co-operate. He still smashed it despite that.
What is amazing is that the 3 guys singing backing vocal on this track in August changed from this to The Eagles in December. Go figure
This may be a hot take but I would rather have a vocalist who gives his all for the role and can't hit every note than have a soulless perfectionist. Thomas put everything he had into Angus, and even though he didn't sound the best live his energy on stage and charisma can't be matched. Really makes me sad that he's no longer in the band.
They fired him, reasons were purely on business things I think, but... if a dog can bite his own leg, these guys broke the whole leg. Even these guys are so brilliant composers, they will bleed for that decision. Do they recover, I dont think so.
I would prefer them both participating alongside.
I agree. Also Thomas has very specific voice which added much to Gloryhammer sound and feel, Sozos is just generic power metal vocalist with great but generic voice. I always liked about Gloryhammer that they don't sound like 1000 other power metal bands and that difference was partly lost because of replacing Thomas.
So you'd rather have a bad vocalist than a talented one because it makes you feel better about not being talented at all. Got it

the problem that it sounds a bit bad is because he is short of breath... as if he were tired or exhausted
Possible but if he took lessons, knew how to sing with proper technique and practiced, he wouldn't be so gassed.

The beginning of the end
I saw the band several times and never sounded like this. Thomas had voice issue or the mastering is bad, i dont know but by this clip it looks like a shitty performance while he was really good in my opinion.
you're wrong.
He's singing sharp in a number of places and he sounds quite tired. He's only human, and still a fantastic singer, but sadly this performance at the UK's most popular metal festival wasn't his best. Now that he's departed GH I'm curious to see what he moves onto.

@@admiralsgalleon6412 I saw the new singer (Sozos Michael) the other week actually, it may be a shame that Thomas is gone, but my god was Sozos brilliant live.
@@admiralsgalleon6412 My hypothesis is this...The band wanted Tom to get vocal lessons to learn how to maintain his voice and give more consistent live performances and Tom didn't want to have to kill himself 6 days in a row with one day off. Both are reasonable requests but hubris got the better of both parties and this is what we have. I really hope Sozos doesn't blow his voice out because he's an amazing singer.
