Hi! I have the toy loulou as well and I love it. However I wanted to mention that the wrinkles are not your fault; YSL actually uses lower quality leather than most designers, it’s not full-grain leather hence why it is prone to wrinkling. The wrinkles are worse on some bags; I looked at the Solferino in store becauseI thought it was beautiful but the flap was already so creased it put me off. So I have learned that yes YSL makes beautiful bags that are a bit less expensive than most brands but they are not as high quality as say Celine.
I think if you stuff the bags to keep them in shape when not in use helps. Also these styles have cushion stuffs inside therefore if not stuffs when not use eventually uneven wrinkles/ indentations will occur. I own several YSL products and love them all. Mine dont have wrinkles/ indentations because I stuff tissues and bubbles wrap inside the main compartment to keep them in shape when not use. I personally think the quality of the leather is great.

I have this toy lou lou for nearly two years now and I wear it everyday and in and out the rain and even spilled food and drink on it too BUT there’s no wrinkles and it still puffy. I’m surprise how great it is.
I also believe it is a matter of how inherently delicate the shiny calfskin is. I do not own none but I am personally attracted by smooth calfskin. It is the prettiest type of leather although more delicate as well.
Does anyone have the solferino? Is my dream to come true!
I find it funny that people don’t know anything about leather talks about full grain leather, do you know the difference between full grain leather and top grain leather? YSL not using full grain leather is a bad thing?
I do love my toy LouLou. I first tried the brand last year after seeing alot of quality issues with LV. I purchased the bag first and then a matching wallet. My husband then purchased the matching card holder for me for Valentines Day. So far I'm very happy with the quality. 😊
they probably changed the design to cut cost. The divider/slot required more leather, so eliminating it saved them some money. And i'm not sure if the new model has the card slots. If they got rid of that, then they saved a lot of money for not including it.
Wow I purchased mine from saint Laurent website for 1,190$ on 6/4/2020 and it still smell brand new to this day ❤️
I absolutely love Saint Laurent! I highly recommend the puffer bags and the Lou camera bag.
I have the same model Loulou as you in Latte. I bought pre-owned when I realized they took away the middle compartment & (temporarily) made the strap non-adjustable. I love it! It's a perfect neutral for me, holds more than expected, and I love to smoosh it! No wrinkles in the leather! I also have the medium tri-quilt in Dark Natural. I was going to get the camera bag but it feels thin so I'm reconsidering. I'm always here for YSL !
Went in person to the YSL store and my phone does not fit (Samsung Galaxy 23 Ultra) 😢 but the associate showed me the toy puffer silver with a double chain (newest model) for crossbody and shoulder and I fell in love! Christmas gift for myself. I think you'll love it as well if you're ever wanting another YSL since it's so soft (lambskin)

I had a YSL clutch with croc embossed leather which I find really nice and luxe. I personally love their croc leather more than the popular chevron ones.

I do think YSL has the bang for the buck selection, their bags being full leather at lower price than others.
you inspired me to get the loulou last year! I was able to get it when I traveled to hawaii, which had hawaii specific pricing (20% off the $1250 price before the increase!). in my opinion people were sleeping on YSL and converted after the LV and Chanel price increases, which caused YSL to realize that some of their items were underpriced compared to their competitors. and yes about the countless design changes! I was so happy to hear you talk about the adjustable strap in your first video and lo and behold when I went to buy it they removed the adjustable strap - there was one left with an adjustable strap from previous seasons but it looked really worn down so I compromised on the strap ... only to see that they brought back the adjustable strap months after I bought it 😂
Hi Hannah! I’m a huge YSL fan! Excellent quality and selection. I tried the toy loulou but it’s too small for me because I need to carry 2 epipens and after that there isn’t much room left and a phone. My first YSL was the camera bag and since then I’ve been a fan. Probably my top fav brand next to LV. TFS take care 😊

Hello, I rewatched this video. Totally agree w you re loss of details on interior of the bag, the functional center divider was fantastic! Disappointed when designers take away excellent details.

I purchased my toy Lou Lou during the holidays and you’re correct, there’s the divider inside but there’s no slit in it like yours.
Ah okay, so they must’ve removed the slot. Oh well, still a great little bag! 😉
The lou camera bag was my first high end designer bag. I liked it enough that I got a small lou lou. No complaints so far
I got the camera bag a few months ago and I’ve almost exclusively used it. Love it
I also bought my toy Lou Lou under $1k. I use this bag all the time, don’t baby it at all. With such extensive use, I expect more wear and tear honestly, but mine still hold up good, no corner wear, only the edge of the leather that touches the hardware of the strap has some little rubbing, but nothing major. For smooth leather I think it’s natural that it relax a bit overtime, hence the wrinkles. I do not think it is because the leather is subpar. Very happy with my purchase!

I agree with all your points! I love my YSL pieces in my collection! I wish I got more use of my medium Loulou but I think I learned it’s a lot larger than I need for my lifestyle. But definitely got it before the frequent price increases!

Definitely agree the bag does pack a punch! I own the toy loulou and it quickly became my most used, everyday bag! I love the small look but yet carries a lot. I actually, to my surprise, love it more than my Gucci Soho disco!!
I can confirm that the divider between the compartments excludes an opening. As soon as you showed yours I had to jump up and look at mine to see if I had missed it, but sadly it does not have an opening.

I thoroughly enjoyed your video. The Loulou is such a beautiful bag. I ordered two in the medium a few years back and each one delivered with loose stitching on the flap. The flap was literally separating. So it was a No for me. My sister and niece both own the Envelope in Chevron print and the quality is amazing.! Perhaps one day. Thanks again for featuring YSL. They really do have lovely handbags.

I have this one in Black Tulip, a limited edition color. Its so unique between dark brown and burgendy. I also have this one in granite( grayish white)have them for 4 years and still looking great. I still love them. I like the option to wear it as a wristlet vs new model the strap is not adjustable nor it has the wristlet function. I also bought metal short and long chains to make a different looks.
I love my loulou. It feels better quality, when compared to my chanel mini . I purchased mine last year .

My first lux bag was a small Loulou! I can’t believe the toy is ~$1600 now, pretty sure it was just over $1k when I was looking at it a few years ago. That’s my only bag from SL, but I’ve got a few SLG’s from them since I feel like that is where they really shine.
Yes! It was just around $1k when I got mine 4 years ago so there have definitely been a few price increases!

Yes, a dainty logo would be nice and more understated, I agree. The toy size fits my sunglasses in a soft pouch so they should fit! 😉

Meant thanks for your YSL review it helped me immensely. Been on fence re Toy Lou Lou now confident it’s my first choice. LV monogram AC bag is ridiculous it’s so unavailable and prices increased even while unavailable. Agree I too prefer leather strap for reasons you pointed out.

I have the newest model and they removed the middle slit pocket but still have the zipper pocket and the card slots on other side. So still overall great!
About 2-2-5 years ago I was researching buying my first luxury bag. I was sure I was going to get the Lou Camera bag, but then I came across some of your vids raving about the Loulou. A few months later, I purchased my first lux bag, The Loulou.
This was in 2020 and they had just removed the pocket from the center divider. They also changed the strap to non adjustable for a short time, which sucked because I ended up having to add extenders to it (I’m 5”7 and busty). But, nonetheless I love it and it was a great decision. I’m also looking at the Jamie now, but PreLoved because the color I want is not longer in stores.

as a helpful tip I'm on the petitite side (5'2) and when I went to buy it they had switched to the new design of no adjustable strap. there was one left in the store from earlier seasons and when I tried it on even the shortest hold was maybe 1 cm shorter than the non adjustable strap. not sure if they've addressed this when they brought back the adjustable strap - but just a heads up that it being adjustable doesn't mean it automatically works for us shorter gals. but on one note apparently back in the day they were able to puncture holes into the strap (at each store's discretion)

I got the Latest version of Toy lou lou in dark beige. The strap has 7 holes now, instead of 3, so it works perfectly for me (5’ tall). You can try it on at the store 🙂
Thank you for sharing this very interesting information. I have the toy loulou bag in taupe, the newer version without the middlepocket. It has 4 small pockets, for cards, in de first compartiment of the bag and the strap is not adjustable. I like your bag more to be honest, it's more practical. I also pre-ordered the mini nolita bag for €895 or $985. This is a very good price, very cute, lambsleather and it gives me chanel vibes.
The old style strap is a wristlet style so you can unclip it and just use the toy loulou as a wristlet. Not many used it rhat way so they changed it. That’s what I heard
I love YSL. I have a black West Hollywood (discontinued) with black hardware. The black on black is a bit more subdued, which is more my style.
❤️❤️❤️ Yeah, my LouLou is probably the original just like that red one you showed and my strap is not adjustable either. Luckily, it works for my height. I still love it and use it a lot. It’s taupe color and I got it for under a thousand. Still in mint condition. 🌺
Wow I ordered it from Net-a-Porter before price increase and received 2nd version model - straps are not adjustable. Ahhh I should have listen to you and ordered from YSL directly.
I really am not a big logo person so the large YSL on the front is hard to get past. With Dior you can take off the charms on Lady Dior or the CD clasp on some bags doesn't scream DIOR if you're just glancing at someone's bag and aren't checking out labels. And few can compete with the understated nature of most of Celine's bags. Saint Laurent could really win a few more customers over if just some of their bags features a much smaller YSL on the front.
I miss when YSL never had these large logos, then at some point, they started putting them in some of their bags. Chanel used to have the same tiny logos as Celine. I personally wish I could get the celine box but the smooth leather is a no no. My celine nano already has a million scratches because I don't baby anything.
I do love the understated nature of Celine, but more so the old Celine during the Phoebe Philo days. Lately, I’ve been seeing a lot of their bags have “CELINE” written across them in large bold letters 😂 but I also love some of the newer vintage-looking styles they’ve introduced!
@@rimun5235 Ok so I have the Celine Classic box and I will tell you, the smooth shiny leather is beautiful 🥰 and is a lot more durable than it seems. I’ve had mine for a few years and hardly any scratches can be seen!
Ysl is getting really popular these days! I love their look and design. I have the niki medium, small Lou Lou, denim small puffer and Lou camera bag. Love them. The toy Lou Lou is attracting me. Sorry I can’t admire from afar 🤣 I need to learn how to. I heard the camera bag fits more than the toy. I can’t go any smaller but it’s darn cute!!! Maybe I will get the black on gold. I don’t have any of their gold emblem. I’ll spend money on this than the nano speedy what can I fit in a nano speedy lol. Sorry LV.

I have this bag in black and love it. So cute but holds a lot. I take it when I travel so I am not lugging around one of my larger bags. I also bought an additional chain which gives it a little dressed up or edgy look. Cannot go wrong with this one in my opinion.😊. Great video 👍

I honestly prefer your strap bcz it can be worn as a wristlet or small clutch bcz of the loop. I definitely dislike that they made it less versatile by changing the strap and removing the inside slip compartment but raised the price significantly. 😂😂 but hey, every fashion house is doing it! I have that same wallet and it was an unplanned purchase. You definitely made me obsess over it! I was buying a card holder for my sister for Xmas at the Saint Laurent boutique and asked if they had a black croc embossed card holder for me. The SA said they didn’t but he found this wallet instead. I was pleasantly surprised and immediately asked to ring the items up before I changed my mind 🤣 I have a small Loulou puffer with gold hardware and a black on black Niki WOC. Super happy with my 3 YSL items but looking to add on with different colors.

@@hellocatwalkcity I have the toy lou lou in so black, small lou lou in dark beige, medium lou lou in a gray/olive green and the lou lou bowler bag in gray. The all have the leather breaks on the metal chains so they are comfy! My favorite is the small because it's the perfect middle size between the toy and medium! Oh, I forgot I also have the small sunset bag in black mock croc, the black long rectangular Kate clutch in black and the clutch with wristlet in cream/beige. I didn't realize I had that many YSLs until just now. 😂
the only reason why i sold this bag is because i was afraid of the corner rubbing. other than that, i love this bag.
I agree YSL handbags looks good but definitely doesn't have the same high quality as Chanel & LV. I have 2 YSL handbags and both straps are already not in good condition. Eventhough I only used them rarely. It's disappointing.

The Jamie is beautiful but it wears very fast. I had it in the large and it had rubbing on the corners even from being properly stored in the dust bag with tissue paper. It is very delicate. I was worried that it would not wear well if I kept it much longer so I passed it along.

I agree. I have two YSL bags with the more prominent logo but I prefer my YSL bags with the discreet “Saint Laurent” stamp.
I’m taking the plunge and purchasing my 1st YSL bag! I have narrowed it down to the Toy Lou Lou or the Wallet on a Chain. I’m 41, 5’4 and 145lbs if that helps and anyone can help me decide 💚
I’d recommend the toy! So you could use it more day to day unless you want more of evening bag! It’ll fit more

I know others like saks have discounts, certificates and such, but they don’t sell it with the ysl box which I really care about for a bag at least!

What a coincidence, I’m buying a Loulou this month! I’m a little stuck on the size, but probably going with the medium in dark naturel! I would have gotten the small, but it can’t fit a book! 😤
You might want to look at the puffer line as well. There’s so much room in it. I think the small might fit a book.

@@katie9173 yes they are different. I have both in the small and I actually find the puffer more user friendly. It closes easier and is a bit lighter. But I do love them both! The regular ones leather is more durable which I really like. It’s such a great bag. What color are you getting?

Um ok I have a slight crinkling in the exact same area brand spanking new out of the box. No it’s not as intense as your wear and tear but it’s there and I thought that I was just how the leather was laying because I don’t see it anywhere else on the handbag.
Oh interesting! Each bag is going to be slightly different depending on the piece of leather they used but I really don’t mind the crinkling (not just because it’s my own fault for getting it wet 😅 but because I don’t think it takes away anything from look of the bag). It still looks great! Hope you’re enjoying yours!
Oh and since yours is brand new, do you have the newer model?
I've seen some new ones that are extremely wrinkled and deflated. I've seen this primarily at department stores where the bags are just on the floor and everybody is touching them
