- At Divine Flavored Nigerian Food Truck, Godshelter and Bisola Oluwalogbon serve Nigerian cuisine outside the Nigerian Consulate in Midtown Manhattan.
Their most popular dish is their goat meat jolloff rice, but they also make local specialities like moimoi, gizzdodo, efo elegusi, and peppered snail. Godshelter and Bisola grew up in Nigeria, and after meeting in Brooklyn in 2006, they started catering to the consulate out of their minivan. They’ve since expanded to a brick-and-mortar location and two food trucks.

I love stories like this to sit in the face of bigots who are ironically pro free market unless it's hard working immigrants which the nation is built on anyway doyeee
I binge watch this Street Food Icons series and this here is my last video on the playlist. They all have one thing in common: THEY START THE DAY AT 4:00 A.M. That's the key.
Like de niro say: that is the discipline
Mama Jo starts her day at 11:45 pm
Here I am sleeping at 5 am in quarantine
Thank you
Absolutely. And not even like only when they're young and have energy. You hear the one guy in the video? He sleeps in and doesn't start 'til 6:00am
Godshelter, damn. A godly name matching his godly food. God bless.
Amen to that

I ate their food when I went to the embassy in NY was really delicious, my favorite was the Ewa Agonyin, the best I have ever had, nice to see their story.
Haha... good to hear! Proud Nigerian!
@Hugh Mungus I will suggest jollof rice and plantain with beef n chicken, that will be a good start. You can also try some soups like egusi. I like the beans and peppered stew but if you don't like spice might not recommend but it's really good 😁
I have never tried Nigerian food. I don't even know them and I feel so proud of them for working hard and bringing diversity into our community. I must try this.....traveling soon into NYC.
True hard working immigrants who had an "American Dream". I love these stories. True inspirations to their kids.
See how the kids are respectful and hard working. God is good.

Such an inspiration to see Africans in America thriving as business owners. So happy for them.
They are self employed and I am really impressed with their hard work and tenacity of purpose. Now they need to move to the stage of creating a business and become business owners so they can have time to enjoy themselves a little.
I love these more intimate looks at the people behind the food.

Hard working Americans right here. This is the dream. Doing something you love and succeeding at it. Not everyone can experience that. God Bless them and may the family business go on through his kids.
The family not only found their niche, they found a legacy. Every immigrant appreciates how tough that is.
I pray the kids keep the business going this is amazing bless up
I hope so too they're learning a work ethic that many know nothing about, I doubt they're there all day.
@TheGooners11 honestly ALL education is important we can never know too much I believe no one is ever to old to learn things. My children's studies are different when I was going to school so I'm learning differently with them. But I encourage them to try their best in everything because there's no telling what part of their lives they'll need one more than the other.
@TheGooners11 thank you! And yeah 😂🤣😅
2:36 that laugh though. huge respect to the hardworking people
What a lovely honest hardworking family. I am Asian and I will definitely support my African brothers and sisters
I love how they have more than love and romance. They are a team. They have the same vision. They have the same hustle and grind. They are business partners as well as lovers. I always tell my friends that I couldn’t just choose a man based off of love and romance. Ive learned from experience that I am very ambitious and I need someone who will accept and respect that. Even better for them to join me. Or we won’t work.
Amen to this sister. I m currently learning this lesson the hard way!
"There's no food for a lazy man" my mom used to say. Work your butt off, improve yourself, take risks, and God will bless your hustle. God will continue to bless your hustle, sir and madam. Your jollof rice looks great! Greetings from omo 9ja in China.

My cardinal belief is to love people as I'd love myself regardless of people's sexual orientation even if I do not agree with whatever they do. I don't care one bit if you don't have respect for my beliefs, It doesn't bother me at all. HAVE YOURSELF A GOOD DAY!

What the immigrants choose to do is their concern so long as they're working 9 to 5 and paying their taxes. You're just envious of those immigrants because you know you could be successful like the guy Godshelter and his family are if you just worked as hard or nearly as hard as them

This truly is the American dream. And not just the trying to get rich "American dream" it's been bastardized into but to bring something you love and amazing to the community and to America and to make a good living in the process. The true American dream.
As a white guy from Canada, I've always seen, read, and thought of the classic "American Dream" as just immigrants being able to go to America, work hard and make a decent living for themselves and their families.
Edit: Its always great when immigrants add and contribute to their communities. However to me that always just seemed secondary to the idea of the American dream it seems Americans used to promote
@pink girl
But thats in the American constitution. "Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness"
