Professor X and Captain Picard himself. Brilliant to see Patrick Stewart in commercials. Brilliant actor. Loved the squeaky chair and also funny how he does the chair spin like Professor X does it in his chair. Brilliant ad.
Having read his autobiography I now know he hails from the West Riding of Yorkshire, but that's the first time I've ever heard him speak with what must have been close to his original accent, before he went all RP for his acting
Yes, that was a nice touch. The West Riding is the best part of Yorkshire. My dad was born and bred in Castleford, as were all of my paternal aunt's, uncles and cousins (one of which was Viv Nicholson's third husband) and I have fond memories of times spent there in my youth. I have a bits of the accent myself, even though I was born down south.
As someone who's recently lost her job, and it being a job I enjoyed, but had to be let go there due to many factors and they were really sorry to see me go and knowing that they cared... damn, this was emotional to hear. *wipes eyes* The speech hits all the right notes, at just the right time for me, even if I conside it a bit silly to get this emotional over a commercial. Like, I get it. It's a tea commercial, and just there to set up the punchline, but dammit it works. Perhaps not put nearly as eloquently and dramatically, but I just know that this is probably how my coworkers felt.
Yorkshire tea is the ONLY TEA WORTH DRINKING NOW!! Forget ALL the rest of them. They just don’t compare. The Yorkshire brand is about as close to what English tea used to taste like, but maybe still a little way to go. I use 2 bags in a cup sometimes THREE
Can anyone explain the ‘joke’ to an American, please? I saw someone say the whole speech was a ‘setup for the punchline’ but, if there is one. I don’t get it. If possible, try not to be too nasty… this question is born of ignorance, not stupidity. (And I’m a huge fan of Sir Patrick, X-men & esp ST TNG but I assume it’s a ‘British thing’, not a ‘Star Trek thing’. )
He's a classically trained actor who was born in Yorkshire - God's own county - where we have a particular accent (check out Sean Bean's accent) that he doesn't use when acting, as in the early part of the ad. The "Dog and Gun" and "there's a tab behind the bar" sees him lapse into a (sort of) Yorkshire accent - the tab behind the bar reference ties into Yorkshire folks' traditional carefulness with money. Hope that helps.
Sean Bean is magnificent and more suitable, in doing the advert. Patrick your godam embarrassing and rubbish to Yorkshire and the tea, and ewww to watch. That's why it's best to leave the goods with the best ones! I say "bring back Mr. S Bean.
@@harrybirchall3308 Yeah I know it a f...... advert. and your getting upset because of my comment. Man or man, get a f..... life. You know it's rubbishhhhh!!! bring back Mr. Bean.
His delivery of "And we're having a pint at the Dog and Trumpet after work" is so good.
Also the two chaps fistbump like *get in!* completes it.
Sir Patrick Stewart is a Yorkshire man. And one of the best.
Never mind, we've all got our crosses to bear!
@@rahmijnowt wrong with yorkajire. Could be worse, could be a southerner
True! 🎉
I love how the chair turning is simultaneously a nod to professor x and captain picard
It's nice that Patrick Stewart goes into his Yorkshire accent near the end of his speech.
I absolutely ADORE Patrick's voice and him saying my name TWICE in this ad is a total dream come true!! 😍😍😍
First sean bean now patrick stuart, yorkshire tea you never fail to impress
Not forgetting Kaiser Chiefs and Michael Parkinson!!
Do it for YORKSHIRE.
They need to get Brian Blessed in
Oblivion
The best advert ever created. A symphony of angels in his voice.
They've been gargling nails. He sounds like he's struggling to keep his dentures in. Sad.
I was hoping he would order his tea by saying ‘tea, earl grey, hot!’
Now, THAT’S the sort of leaving speech I want when I retire next year.
I wonder if Sir Patrick’s available 🤔
He seems to so anything these days so he probably is.
Sir Patrick's voice is so great. And the squeaky chair underlines the funny scenery.
And him slurping his tea 🤣
Professor X and Captain Picard himself. Brilliant to see Patrick Stewart in commercials. Brilliant actor. Loved the squeaky chair and also funny how he does the chair spin like Professor X does it in his chair. Brilliant ad.
Greatest Shakespearian actor of his generation and I still got the star trek reference in.
What was that?
He was always known for taking acting so seriously. Wonderful to see him embracing his funny side. This is hilarious.
This ad shows, that it is very helpful to have epic music play in the background while you're giving a speech.
this is the only advert I have ever wanted to see twice
Imagine quitting a job and then going to the pub with Patrick Stewart
Having read his autobiography I now know he hails from the West Riding of Yorkshire, but that's the first time I've ever heard him speak with what must have been close to his original accent, before he went all RP for his acting

OMG! THIS IS SO GOOD WELL DONE LOZ!!!
The voice! 👍👍👍

BRIAN BLESSED!
Yes, he must be the next yorkshireman to do a tea advert

I hope you are OK now.
I hope you’re better also. Let me know if you want to call and talk.
Heartfelt and good to hear. Are you finished? No.
No proper Yorkshire person would be seen drinking Earl Grey!
Everytime he says "Tina" I think he's gonna say "Tea, Earl Grey, hot." He also says "Will", and there is one light!
I love this man.
I thought he only drinks Earl gray 🤣
That's what that frenchman has
Picard, "Tea, Yorkshire hot."
Computer, "That tea is not on the list of beverages."
Picard, "No problem. I'll show you how to make it."
Captain Picard drinks Earl Grey. Patrick Stewart drinks Yorkshire Gold.
Are you sure it's yorkshire gold and not PG tips 😂
@MsMissy Sorry I speak Murican.
Patrick makes a tea publicity sound like Henry V.

Set course for the Dog & Trumpet, Lets get worm holed , Warp9 Engage!
Love this advert.
This advert makes me stupid happy 😊😂
According to TV Tropes this would be an example of "Ooh, Me Accent's Slipping."
Fancy a brew? Make it so!
You know it's gonna make a good cuppa if it's had both sean bean and patrick stewart in the adverts
Why is Captain Picard advertising Yorkshire tea? He drinks " Tea. Earl Grey. Hot."
I think the answer might be, "Money. Lots of it. Now."
yorkshire tea is the best and i'm from lancs.
0:30 this killed me🤣
I found this add looking for the spiffing Brit while high Lmao
Captain picard drinking Yorkshire tea
If j worked in am office with Patrick Stewart, it would be star trek questions rather than work
The guy in the blue works at my school
Make it so.
I can’t believe they didn’t get him to say “Tea. Yorkshire Gold. Hot.”
Make it so, number one Tea company in the UK.
Patrick is great. Hail Glorious.
Hannuman your PS.
Tea. Yorkshire. Hot.
His acting is better in this than it was in Picard season 2!
Oh no😢 is it that bad? Haven't watched it yet..
Um idk if that's a bad joke or what @Rupert Davison but personally your off your rocker with that assessment. Season 2 outshined season 1 by far!

It’s cringe.
He's an old ham actor now. It's really sad to see.
And then all her clothes fall off, and he's seen everything.
Instantly.
Brilliant! :D
Thank you TeaNa
Just saw it
Yorkshire tea, a political drink.
RLM did a better Picard speech.
Is that Judi Dench's voice at the end?
Definitely not.
@@nkt1 She sounds a bit younger, but it's somehow similar.
@@Dreamcatcher9000 I don’t hear it. Dench has a very distinctive, husky, cracked voice. This lady’s voice is much brighter and fairly generic.

Does he have to make such a horrible slurping noise??
Nothing British about Yorkshire tea.
I would rather drink from a puddle.
😆, or water from the toilet pan someone's pi$$ed in perhaps 🤣
A bit over the top for a workmate leaving.
