Thanks Rodney, I'm always happy give you a shout out, you do incredible things with your series! I'm glad I was able to teach you this one too, but you should know that I used your video to teach all of my friends in this video :)

You guys/gals seriously do the best board game videos. Your group is awesome - nobody is annoying. Your explanations are excellent. The format is totally accessible. The quality of the video and audio is excellent. Just great. Top shelf.
+Raemond Coleman Wow, thanks so much for saying that Raemond, we truly appreciate it. It really means a lot to get feedback like this as we set out to try and create a format that was unique and interesting when we started the series. It can sometimes be hard to tell how things are received when they go live, but this certainly helps confirm that we're accomplishing what we had hoped. Anyway thanks again, very glad to have you with us!
I love how this game is so flexible. You can play with 4, 6, 8 or 10 VP's for the win, depending on how casual or intense you want to be and who you are playing with vs teaching to. This is definitely one of my favourites. Another great video. I would almost like to see a 2 minute rap up of just what you think of the game, just like why you like it so much or something.
+adam heeley Thanks for the kind words, this is a really great game. In a nutshell I'd say I like this one because the fast gameplay that encourages constant combat. That and the combat is almost entirely without luck. Not that luck in combat is a problem for me, but I love that I know exactly what I'm going up against with my opponents. Then we have the tech trees..oh so glorious...and the fact that every space is equidistant to one another. It's such a well rounded game.
These replays rock'n'roll. Great information, great production, just great. And my favorite games are Spartacus, Cyclades, Kemet and Cosmic Encounter - spot on! No doubt I have to check the other games you played, I only know a few of those. Oh, you missed Nations so far, but it is on your shelf. Oh, and Eclipse. Oh, and Blood Bowl.
Thanks for checking it out anyway Paulo :) This game is so fiercely competitive that it plays pretty differently from other area control games I've played. As you could probably tell, we're all big fans of this one!
Nice! Loved the video, guys, and this just shows more and more why I love this game. The shear amount of different paths you can take and knowing when to attack and when to stay back. You can only win so many battles, with the cards, and so knowing when to cycle your hand and when to win actual battles is huge. I will say, if any 1 of you had grabbed 1 or 2 of the offensive tree 3 or 4 level tiles, you might have steam rolled. Phoenix is a decent creature that lets you jump over walls. Scorpion is the most ridiculously good creature, and it seems like the snake is often the only way to counter it. And the 2 movement on the beetle can make it so that you can touch just about anyone anywhere on the board :). But that is another great thing about this game, you don't have to go for a specific strategy to win(there is multiple paths). Reacting to the other players makes each game completely different. Enjoyed the video! Thanks guys! Now I just need to somehow get you guys to do another one with the c3k expansion! Or maybe once the other expansion comes out, you guys let it hit the table again. I hear there is a new tech tree in the new expansion...not a whole lot of info, but another tree with black tiles is the rumor. Thanks again guys! What's next Matt? Any hints?
Thanks a lot Zach, glad you liked it! New tech tree in the expansion you say?! I can't wait! As for the next game, I honestly haven't decided! I'm taking this weekend to really think about it...Always open to hearing suggestions though!
+Board Game Replay yeah my group does too. I say beetle just because it adds the 2 movement, and if you can combine that with Godspeed and initiative you can just roam and wreck folks without needing to teleport. Sik Nazty!!!
Well for what it's worth I started with Kemet and then bought Cyclades. Kemet MIGHT be a little more straightforward in terms of learning the game for the first time with a group. Outside of that, it's all about your preference. Kemet is all about combat and timing. Landing the right move at the right time against the right target. Cyclades is more about the bidding phase and getting gods to get the actions you want / need for the round. Combat is certainly part of the game, but it's more about balancing your actions. Honestly, you can't go wrong with either game. They're both gorgeous and tons of fun!
Hmm, really hard to say for me. Both games have their share of strategies, but they also lean towards the "tactical" side of things. In both it's more about growing and altering your play style based on what the other players are doing or what cards your are drafted. I really like them both and I'd say there's an equal amount of thought put into your overall strategy and the tactics during the game. I know that doesn't help much if you're leaning one way or the other but I figured I'd at least give me 2 cents :)
Hey, you guys might wanna do something to bring Kara more into the group, a few hugs maybe? She seems to be struggling to get comments in and her body language suggests shes a bit uncomfortable.... or maybe its just the camera... I'm not sure.... excellent video otherwise, makes me really wanna play it right now!
It was her first game on camera, so she was still feeling-out the dynamic. I was also quieter for my first recorded game for the same reason. After awhile you start to recognize the conversational cues that are good lead-ins to talking about your perspective, when to interject, when to counter an interjection to continue the conversation, the ideal volume to speak at (I'm still working on that), etc. Then you start to just relax and things flow better. Trust me, she always has something to say; and she's comfortable saying anything and everything with us - usually completely unfiltered. :)
Hugging Kara Nolting is my specialty. SOMEDAY we'll have a vid with both of us and the world will explode from all of the awesome... and all of the Doctor Who jokes.
Heh, don't know why, but I tend to skim through the shelves on the background whenever I watch your videos. But a side note, why don't you replay a pure co-op game sometime. The gameplay would be so much different than a competitive one. PS: I'm surprised you have Doom the Boardgame, and its expansion. Such an awesome game, if only it's still supported... I dare you to be the invader player against your friends.
I've been bugging Matt to do a co-op game for a while now, it's my favorite type of game to play with him and would make for a great video. Hoping to get one in soon!
I need to stop watching these videos. The way you all banter post-game, talking about the ins and outs on strategies, cards, mechanics, really does a service in selling the game as a fun GROUP experience. I watch a video, and then feel the need to buy the game... Fantastic work.
Thanks so much Patrick! It's great to see that these videos are helping you out! The idea of the game as a group experience was really the driving force behind us starting the series. It's interactions with the others at the table that really makes this hobby great.
+patrickpmcbride " does a service in selling the game as a fun GROUP experience. I watch a video, and then feel the need to buy the game" I feel the need to buy a group! :/
Thanks for the shout out Matt! People should know, you first taught me the game that led to our series on it. Congrats on the fun playthrough replay!
Thanks Rodney, I'm always happy give you a shout out, you do incredible things with your series! I'm glad I was able to teach you this one too, but you should know that I used your video to teach all of my friends in this video :)

Kick ass job, Matt. The overhead footage intrgrated in was awesome!

Thanks man! Those could very well all be games we feature at some point. Really good to see you're enjoying the videos!
Great video Matt.
Ok so I finally bit the bullet and bought this game. Really wish you would do a full play through video like your wildlands videos in this!
Thanks for the video Matt... Not big on area control games but this looks cool
Can't wait for the next one

SUCH a good game. One of the best.
Your videos are great. You teach very well
Thanks so much Joel! That's nice of you to say!
Did you get the Cyclades crossover? I love kemet, and I think I'm going to buy Cyclades.
I did get the crossover but I haven't played with it in a while. It's really cool though...I'll take all the extra monsters I can get! :)
I feel like the beetle is the best creature. Defensive victory is great, but I think it acts more like a deterrent than a way to get battle point
I do like the Beetle a lot myself. It's funny though, the more we play as a group the more our use of the different creatures changes.

Michelle Long Board Game Replay I was just telling Michelle, I'm off til Wednesday. So, ladies BGR this week?!
I'm between Kemet and Cyclades... what your knee jerk reaction; which should i buy?!
Well for what it's worth I started with Kemet and then bought Cyclades. Kemet MIGHT be a little more straightforward in terms of learning the game for the first time with a group. Great video (as usual).
We love cyclades because it is soooo strategic.
So which would u say is more strategic - Kemet vs BloodRage?
Hmm, really hard to say for me. Both games have their share of strategies, but they also lean towards the "tactical" side of things. Glad you like it!
I want the elephant!

Nah, I was totally comfortable just a new game for me. I always look awkward, it's my thing ;) but hugs are always great.
Kara Nolting Great to hear, hugs!
Hugging Kara Nolting is my specialty. SOMEDAY we'll have a vid with both of us and the world will explode from all of the awesome... and all of the Doctor Who jokes.
Michelle Long Seriously, we need to make this happen. I blame you for traveling too much! :P
