I do legitimately wonder how the Amulet of Kings and the Covenant of Alessia actually functions. Allegedly it makes a powerful barrier between Nirn and Oblivion so that Daedra summoning is impossible, yet it can still happen and mortals routinely did so up until the Amulet's final use at the end of TES IV: Oblivion. Does it make it functionally harder, or does it limit Oblivion's menace to mortals only? If so, how did Molag Bal destroy Gil-Var-Delle in Valenwood? Lots and lots of questions about what's essentially a suped-up Soul Gem.
The Dragonfires prevented (or attempted to prevent) the direct invasion of Daedra, not their summoning or invasion through indirect means. In other words, Mehrunes Dagon cannot directly invade the Mundus of his own volition, but Molag Bal can be summoned by the mad King of Senchal, Dro'Zel, to destroy Gil-Var-Delle. This event caused Daedric influence to be limited even further by the Coldharbour Compact, and agreement between Almalexia and Sotha Sil and eight of the Deadric Princes.
@@EpicPrawn What’s interesting is that Khajiit don’t make a distinction between Aedra and Daedra, so they probably didn’t see that as an inherently evil act, just that they dominated when they needed to. Nobody likes depressing music, that’s the real evil
