🤔 These are good guns. They are reliant accurate enough if the one using them does their part. I’m thinking the ammo isn’t exact the best of ammo so that’s most likely the reason for the result on the two different targets. Better ammo would certainly tighten this group up.
I have the exact same one and the darker stain like yours, only in the 44 mag. When I shot mine at a target my sights were off low and about 10" to the right no wonder I missed the milk jug by a mile.😂😂
I just purchased my R92 and having a hell of a time getting rounds into the loading chamber. I made dummy rnds to "work" the action and try to loosen the loading gate. Too cold to hit the range yet.
The best way to soften your loading gate, is to take your finger and just set and press it in over and over again……your just working the spring, you don’t really need to load cartridges to get it done….
I’ve got the exact same rifle and shot at about 50 yards with 38 special. I was grouping about 2 inches so I was confused seeing yours group that Badly I guess it’s just rifle dependent. I’ve yet to shoot .357 as I haven’t been able to find any locally tho.
In a rifle, with factory ammo, I believe it's common for 357Mag (or 44Mag) to be more accurate than 38Spl (or 44Spl) because of the long jump to the rifling. With the right bullets, 38Spl's can be hand loaded for better accuracy.
typical groups with .38 special in these. If you want better accuracy load 38 special loads into 357 cases. They will shoot 38 cases fine but they like 357 length.
Very informative, clear thinking analysis. I own two Rossi’s in addition to Winchester and Marlin lever action carbines and rifles. HOWEVER, this video puts my NRA safety card I got when I was 11 years old on red alert. I get the need for space, but you have yard swings and a large propane tank very close to the line of fire. You are obviously a pro, but a slip could easily hit that propane tank.
I picked one up yesterday and I’m currently waiting for my NICS to come back (I’m in Nj 😢). I was a little discouraged when you took those first shots but how has it been so far?
@@rbwood1978ify It was on loan to me for the video, so I didn’t put too many shots through it. With .38s the recoil was nonexistent and with .357 it still wasn’t bad, just much louder. It’s owner got a whitetail with it this past deer season too, so it’d be up for that too if that’s your thing.
I've had ejection/feeding issues with my Rossi 92, specifically with .38 Special. I can usually avoid it if I'm particularly quick with the lever, but I also think the feed ramp might need a little work.
Groups open up once barrel heats up. If you cant reload your own ammo than ya gotta try all the different types of ammo available and shoot the one that the most accurate. This was ugly Edit: also check the screws that hold the barrel clamps. If they get loose your groups turn into crap
Are you ambidextrous, shoot left with the rifle and shoot right with a pistol.Your holster is right handed.I am a south paw and I shoot rifle and pistol on my left.
Yep. More so there are some things I do better left-handed and other things better right. I shoot long guns better left-handed but pistols better right. I write left-handed, but almost everything else right-handed. Over the last couple years I've been practicing shooting scoped bolt-action rifles right handed just because all of my bolt-action rifles are right handed and I just haven't felt the need to go find a left-handed one yet.
@@YonderOak wow I'm the same,I write left but I use my right hand when throwing a ball, dribble a basketball, using tools hammer, screw driver, knives, slingshot, bow and arrow, etc.I shoot rifles, pistols left handed but I'm practicing shooting my rifles right handed because my dominant left eye don't see as good as my right eye anymore.Shooting pistols on my left using my right eye is not a problem.I have 3 left hand savage rifles in 22LR,22 Mag and 17 HMR.I wear my pistol holster on my left and my knife sheath on my right.
Got me a 24 inch oct barrel a week ago . sure is bullseye accurate and gorgeous and none of the BS UA-cam feeding issues or other some claim.
Oh yeah, I had zero problems with feeding other than me short-stroking that one .357 round.
And you aren’t kidding about these guns being beautiful.
Great job putting this one together!
That's a lot of fun.. especially when the target goes ping 😁
Love the 357/38
Sure is!
Thanks for watching!
I've got a Rossi in 45 copy, I really like it.

Yeah that Armscor ammo was all over the place. The Fiocci did much better.

YO. Good video. Nice open sight 100-yard shooting. Take care.
Thanks!

I own one. I’ve had the same experience so my opinion is to leave the 38 Special in your pistol unless your target is around 25 yards.

I’m pretty sure this one just didn’t like that Armscore ammo.
I cast my own lead and use three grains of bullseye in 38 spl and it’s super accurate.
Good video bro.

If you reload you can use 357 cases for your ..38 loadings
when you take this amazing acurate eye candy out, get your bib ready as you shhot . OMG
How was your trip to "The Thing"? I live about 25 miles west of there in Benson, AZ. Good video. Peace.
We really liked it! I feel like I missed out since we went after it was remodeled to include aliens and dinosaurs.
Still had a great time.
Where was your final hold shooting the steel target at 50 and 100 yards and where was your rear sight set at ? Thanks.
I want to say I was holding at the top of the target. But it’s been a while.
When using the buckhorn site, were you putting the front post even with the top of the rear site or were you putting it at the bottom of the notch?
Bottom notch.

would have been nice to repaint the gong before the last five rounds. lol . nice shooting iron. Clay
Yep. Left the paint at home that day.
She definitely seems to prefer the .357 over the .38
Yeah it didn’t seem to care for that Armscor at all.

I used a lazer on mine, got me in the ball park without a shot...

I would call that frustrating accuracy.
Yeah that’s probably just me. Still a sweet-shooting lever gun.
@Yonder Oak maybe the rifle is ammo sensitive. Try some different brands and such. Hopefully the groups will tighten up some.
you would probably get a better group if you were shooting something alot more aerodynamic !!!

Seems inaccurate. Shoots groups like a shotgun. Better be able to shoot a 2 inch group at worst to be useful
I guarantee you it’s my shooting and not the rifle.
