That trick with the black crayon on your shape was so genius!! I love those 'simple' solutions! As I continued to watch the more continual examples of great clever woodworking came up! This video was sure a treat to watch thank you so much for sharing I loved the project and it turned out beautifully!
Thank you Perry. The black crayon comes from yeas of using it at work as a wood patternmaker. Used it on templates of all sizes and shapes on many turnings. I appreciate your comments and thanks for watching. Gary
Thanks Jim, that could be a lot of fun. Or tell someone you keep a $100 bill under the little one and see if they look when you leave the room! Take care, Gary
Thank you Mike. I appreciate your comment. Keep turning and trying new things when you are ready. This is a cool looking turning and not all that hard. Take care, Gary
Thank you, Gary, for reply! We are a good vintage year... You are simply amazing woodturning. I'm a retired forester, living in beautiful Palouse, near Pullman, WA. My dream is to have my own woodshop. I have all tools needed already in place. I have cutt some black locust trees in the property, a few the pieces will go to make vases. We will see... I plan to watch all your UA-cam collection. Watch out for this competition! Hope we keep in touch. Be safe. Be well.
@@nato2959 thanks again. I love having a shop where I can have fun building things. I have built a lot of furniture as well but pretty much stick with wood turning now. Let me know if you ever have any questions. Take care, Gary
The color and grain are beautiful and I really love the roundness and size of it. I love watching your videos and the way you can see what the wood wants to be.
Boy, you make everything look so easy! You should consider changing your name to the Teacher 1947. Seriously this looked like a fun project and it turned out great. Beautiful piece of wood.
Thanks so much David! It was a lot of fun to make and the color of this piece of wood just seem to fall into place to help with the look. Thanks for watching, Gary
Hi Gary. That London Plane looked nice to turn. I have not turned any yet but will add it to my list. Thanks for a great video and great explanation of how to do it. 👍👍👍
Thank you Judith. Yes the grain is very nice and I have been trying to figure out how to best use this piece of wood. Worked out great because I wanted to make another one of these and smaller. Thanks for watching, Gary
Thanks so much Dave. For sure it was a lot of fun to turn. If I do another I will need to ad some twist to it so it is different. Thanks for watching, Gary

What an amazing and unique idea! The wood is absolutely gorgeous. I have never seen anyone else do this kind of work. You are wonderful at what you do. Thanks for sharing. 🙃 ❤😎 Your friend from Florida, USA
Thank you Chris! I think I have missed a few that I have planned on watching as well. Was busy all weekend celebrating our anniversary but getting caught back up now. Take care, Gary
Gary, what a cool turning! Quite an illusion of bowl inside of a bowl. I had seen the other video with the bigger one and was quite impressed. As always thank you for the fine videos!
Thank you Mark. I was going to wait awhile before making another one but that piece of wood was begging to be turned. And it was perfect for this. Thanks for watching, Gary
Thank you Ronald! I make a list of things I want to do and then check them off. This was on the list and I just added something else to the list. It is not getting any smaller LOL! Thanks for watching, Gary
Papa, That is one beautiful hunk of wood. And, as I have come to expect, masterfully shaped; but into a most unexpected result 😋. Thank you. Keep the aspidistra flying! Paul

very interesting. I assumed you would use one of those tools that let you cut out the bowl shape and create another bowl from that. This was not what I expected. Neat and you don't have to worry about the kids knocking the inside bowl out. LOL
Thank you Chris. I was wondering if it might be taken as coring out a bowl. Actually hoping it was so it would be a big surprise. Thanks for watching and commenting. Gary
