Assembler returns 80% of ammo shot to you, so you lose 1 bolt every 5 shots. 1200/5=240 bolts lost per hour of combat. At 99 ranged with assembler, elite void, anguish, book of law (prayer bonus to make trips longer, not alching cuts into your profits), pegs, archer (i) and rigour, diamond dragon bolts are ~7.4 damage per second against brutal black dragons, while amethyst bolts are ~6.6 dps. Brutal blacks have 315 hp so it would take 315/0.8=397.5 seconds to kill one extra dragon, which means with dia bolts you'd kill 9 dragons more per hour. Dia bolts are ~1500gp more than amethysts which means you're spending 360k more on bolts for those 9 kills. Average brutal black drop is 30k = 270k gp/h extra in drops. Using diamond dragon bolts over amethyst bolts would net you ~90k gp less per hour (of combat) but get you 11k ranged xp more. Armadyl is worse here than void. "I have about 500m" he says, wearing ~370m gear. Ok, maybe think before you speak.

brutal blue dragons are more than likely better gp/hr than reds, reds are just worse drop tabled blacks, whereas blues have similar tables to reds but lower stats and hp's
Heads up man, ive done hundreds - thousands of each brutal dragon. red are absolute trash, blue are actually very good, and extremely good for ironmen.i would honestly put brutal green dragons(in mith dragon cavern) above brutal reds gp/hr wise.

One thing I do is: Use the Xeric's Talisman to teleport to Raids, start a raid and instantly leave, bank at the Raids bank, and then teleport to Xeric's Inferno to run back to the Brutals. It may not be faster, but it was fairly fast for me. Hope it helps!
Just a heads up for anyone wanting to do this with lower level gear there are a few things to take into account: Elite void is only better if using a DHCB or a Twisted bow, if using a blowpipe or Rune / Dragon Crossbow then even standard black d'hide is better and this was from running DPS sims. I tested this even at 99 Range. If you're primarily focusing on making money then a Rune crossbow with broad bolts is better GP per hour compared to a Blowpipe despite the faster kills with the Blowpipe.
@@lucwousin Depends on range level, At anything pre 90 then yeah they would be, especially with the Camalot Diaries done, but after that you should be hitting most shots anyway at 90+ with a ranging potion.
A tip I learned there is that if you're poor with no pool then just start a raid and cancel it, bank at xerics honor. Full run/spec/hp and a bank right next to it. Faster than clan wars.

Easily my favorite mob that exists in osrs. 1 ranging dose, 1 extended antifire dose, 2 prayer doses per inventory of bb dragon loot for me. I doubt i will find another monster I enjoy this much.
so funny this video uploaded right as I'm doing like 130 blue dragons. Don't have dragon slayer 2, I'm ranging one in the heroes guild. It feels like 3000 lol. It doesn't take as long as I think though and last time I did this task I banked everything, I had like 600k in dragon bones and 400k in hide. It sounds longer than it is and it's very profitable. I use a dragon crossbow (not DHC) it's really not bad.
