I have been doing Uber in Florida and I just recently quit Uber takes my tips they cheat me on every run I honestly can't make a living doing it anymore
ive been saying for quite some time now. You are paying Uber and Lyft to work work for them. you are not even eworking free for them anymore. you are paying to work. here is what i mean. you buy your $35K car for every mile you make less than 87cents.. now all of sudeen you cant drive anymore because you stacked your mailege but you still owe the bank that 35k because whatever you made could only feed your family, rent and your car maintenances. your car maintance is like paying uber and lyft so you can work for them
The car can not and should not be included because ride share uses your personal car for business. Taxi services use a business vehicle for business. This is what separates the ride share from the taxi. It doesn’t excuse Uber/Lyft for their illegal offers that are below the cost to perform the service. IRS mandated $0.67/per mile for using your personal car for business use, up to a small box truck. So this is the cost to perform the service and its tax deductible as operating cost. Any money earned beyond this $0.67/mile is profit for the driver. It’s against the law to offer goods and or services below this cost in the ride share business. Petition your government to fine these companies for their acts of bad faith!!! This is how you make the change needed. Add minimum wage to this amount for that state and you have a total of $0.93/per mile. Not $0.86/per mile Uber/Lyft is offering. What the suggested is illegal and the politicians are blind to see it because they are ignorant and should never have been elected. As for wait time. This state has a minimum wage of like $15/hr. That’s $0.25/min. This is the wait time if they want minimums. $0.93/mile is the minimum per mile. This is the real and fair compromise.
@@eworldmusikinc.3054 they said i made 77k and bucketed 40k how? my bank account went negative 2k. i was drowning. i was asking my friends for loans. my credits was sent to collections. they have fucked me over i released my apartment because i couldnt afford it while driving for lyft/uber. my car almost got repossessed so i had to quit driving to survive.
It’s illegal to offer products or services for less than it cost to produce said product or service. If the IRS has a standard of .67 cents as the cost to due this service, then the Government needs to fine Uber/Lyft for breaking the law. Now, .26 cents per mile is $16/hour if one drives 60 miles an hour. So the minimum should be .93 cents a mile or it’s illegal. That’s .67 cents per mile plus the .26 cent per mile. Then include 100% of driver tips and you have a true minimum wage. Uber/Lyft has offered rides as low as .43 cents per mile. Clearly below the cost to perform the service and illegal.
What other companies did you not see that majority of the smaller companies didn’t even pay the fee to register to become a rideshare legal. Stop being delusional.
I average about $20-25/hour in Chicago. Sometimes I’ll average $30, but once you factor in gas and miles, my expected income is about $16.50/hr. It’s dumb
Let them leave. A glorified dispatch system "tech" company. If they leave, we have more money in our communities. Minneapolis needs to be on one accord.
According to the rate card the Lyft Standard Base Rate there is .35, Per mile is .64 Per minute .20. Extra Comfort Base Rate is .41, Per Mile .75, Per Minute.23. XL Base Rate is .75, Per mile $1.37, Per minute .30. Black Base Rate is $5.04, Per mile $$1.84, Per minute .50 and Black SUV Base Rate is $10.08, Per mile $2.20, Per minute .50
I've always said to use the legislature to get the gig companies to the negotiating table but not to negotiate the rates. The governments only real interest in this is tax revenue. Naturally, by being declared independent contractors, we directly generate more tax revenue than employees and indirectly even more tax revenue as a result of the services we offer by way of more employees being able to get to their jobs, students being able to get to schools, more patients being able to get to the doctors office, etc. etc. So the governments interests are on the side of the gig companies. So again, use the legislature to get the gig companies to the negotiating table but driver's should be negotiating the rates and benefits.
Why don’t the drivers in Minnesota attack that “Dollar per engaged hour”? It seems that Uber and Lyft are making it seem like “$23 per active engaged hour” is a real number when a minimum wage should support an online hour. The problem isn’t the amount of orders being pushed out … it is that Uber and Lyft is taking too much of the fare. 50% is waaayyy too much and the cancellation percentage discrepancy is way worse than that. $.49/min wait time is not bad but the rest is trash and it is all disguised under that term “active engaged hour”
I thought the same when I thought I wasn’t replaceable . Everyone is replaceable when it comes to doing a business . Uber and Lyft leaves another one fills the gap .
In 2018, the rate card was ¢72 per mile and 18¢ per minute on Uber x so it’s a raise if the time rate becomes more feasible also. These are bottom tier rides that we are talking about from people who drive economy cars. You can’t be in heaven, but spending money at the bottom of the barrel as a driver. I feel like I paid my dues when I got into a car that can offer less than the bare minimum in service. I think 89¢ with a corresponding per minute is healthy enough for a bottom tier ride offering. We have to keep it in perspective because 1.40 would match more for lux or premier respectively
This is so much corporate bs. I was making $1/mile for courier work in 1998. 26 years ago! My insurance was about 50 bucks and gas was still under 2 dollars. .89 is a fking crime. Absolute min should be 1.50. They could pay it if their CEO wasn't banking 45 mil. Let them go. Other companies will step in to grab that market.
Tbf the .49 cents per min is $29 per hour, now if you are asking for an additional 1.40 per mile that increases to at least $60/hr per driver non black/black SUV. $60 an hour in that small market is INSANE 😂😂😂
the 49 cents is only for waiting time which only happens when the driver arrives at your house. Its not 49 cents for every minute of every hour. The 1.40 a mile is actual driving distance from the customer house to their destination.
I drive in Minnesota but not in the Minneapolis Market. I was happy that were included. We only get .79er Mike and .11 per minute ( Uber) a bad day for a driver in Minneapolis is a good day for us and we really struggle. Lyft on the other hand has been grossly inflating fares recently while giving us a mere pittance. $36 pax pays, I get $12. So when I read this statement from Lyft, it made me wonder “How much more are you planning to charge the pax”? "Rides would become unaffordable for most across the state, not just in Minneapolis, and drivers would earn even less. It would make the service unsustainable in Minnesota and we would be forced to shut down throughout the state, should it pass," the company wrote.
If the rideshare companies decide to leave Minnesota, (which I highly doubt it’s just lip service) they are leaving the door open for a third-party to come in and get 1/3 of the current market and it would probably alienate all current Uber, and live drivers in Minnesota. 😢 It’s a simple as that.
Some people are okay with being slaves. If lyft and uber could have that they would but since they cant there's plenty if folks willing to accept less than 89 cents from what we see here.

For Minneapolis on the passenger side, it says $.86 a mile
I drive here in Minneapolis and I think they pay us around .65 cents per mile
