Dwight Twilley " Sincerely" and Donnie Iris have been fun to listen to , although those 45's are somewhat valuable, especially Richard Hell Blank Generation 7' Thanks, Olivier !
The Jane Siberry is a beautiful radio promo with goodies like The Power Station copy ! Donnie Iris has been a fun addition to my collection, and I ordered " King Of Cool" to go along with my other Donnie Iris record.
NOTE : I Blew It By Not Picking Up Preston Epps "Bongo Rock" From 1960 ! The Surfaris' 1963 Hit "Wipe Out" Was Based Off Of This Great Single ! .. Oh Well.. Next Time ! ♨
It was a little bit of an effort to eventually find Richard Hell, Magazine and MC5 thrifting. I recommend Dwight Twilley.. He is a favorite as well, and I was pleased to find " Sincerely" by him and Phil Chapman 😊 I'll check to see if you have a new vid, lately..
Hi JT!!! So cool to see the thrift store "maestro" back in action..... some great 45", loved your "Jump" addition to the collection and the MC5 too, that's a great score. Always nice to see one of my favorite super groups from the 80's, The Power Station, the sound of the drums is insane.... cheers and be well
I'm very pleased with my promo copy of The Power Station ! And you're right.. The sound is incredible on this record ! Jump was pretty unexpected to find out there, and MC5 was totally unexpected !
Thank you Harry ! And thanks again for helping me out with my VU debut 1968 pressing.. Now I know and studied the details of the various releases.( the early ones, anyway )
You found some great 7-inch singles. I never find punk at thrift shops. Magazine and MC5🤩. Great Stones singles. "Don't Worry Baby." It's such a beautiful song. I own the Richard Hell single as well. It's cool. I can't believe the Ed Sheeran record was in that lot for a dollar. I've never seen that Stan Getz album. Cool promo photos.
If you see the Stan Getz, know that it does sound pretty good on the Roost label. It's early Getz from the mid 50's , I believe. The mono sounds only a little better than the stereo. I just sent the mono as a VCLT ( my stereo is a solid mint ) Ed Sheeran broke down to 2.50 actually.. Still amazing to find it ! ( Orange vinyl ) The Jane Siberry is also a deluxe radio promo along with The Power Station !
I kept seeing this sealed record at Salvation Army, Gary.. This thrift hunt started with me going back to get that good Donnie Iris record. I've since ordered King Cool from Discogs for 11.00. I'm glad I finally discovered his music. and " The Rapper" has been fun to listen to lately as well !
"Nuns Having Fun" must be a very rare album and you passed on it? Haha. Seriously, some great 45s there. I love Rivers' "Poor Side of Town" song and that Bar-Kay 45 looks fab!
Steve Cropper on that Bar-Kays is very cool ! Knucklehead on the b side is my favorite of the two. Johnny Rivers really showed off his songwriting chops with "Poor Side Of Town" Thanks, RM
Some great 45's there, and a cool way to show them (and your LP finds) as well. You got some sweet pickups. I have 'The Rapper' by Jaggerz 45 also - Kama Sutra! I have been picking up Jane Siberry LP's when I find them as well - she is always an eclectic listen. Excellent video, JT 😎
Hey there Ed ! My Jane Siberry is a radio promo with 8x10's and other goodies. I'm listening now, its the only record I didn't give a good spin ! The Rapper is such a good single, and I do enjoy my 45's Thanks
Yeah, Jon.. Those were the days, and it smelled good in the concert halls back then ! 🤣 I couldn't believe The Mother's " Live At Fillmore East" was there ( 2.00 ). I became aquainted with the gal that is in charge of the records.. She's terrific and enthusiastic about the good music that comes through the store ! I'll be back 👍
I don't know much about Donnie Iris either except for his signature hard rocking sound and, of course, "Ah Leah!" That record is worth it even if it's just for that track alone. Some surprisingly good vinyl there. Isn't it funny when you run across a newer record that just doesn't seem to belong there. That does happen and it's always a pleasant surprise. Whoa! MC5 on a single! Incredible even if it is 2015. Even a Richard Hell single! Very cool. The other 45s you show are pretty amazing too. Cool finds! That Mothers album is quite unbelievable, you just don't run across Zappa in a thrift store that often.
And when I saw The Mother's for 2.00.. I was amazed ! I like my Dwight Twilley " Sincerely" pick up as well ! Roosevelt & Ira Lee is my favorite 45, ( Tony Joe White ) besides all 3 punk 7" records 😊
@ Had a terrific time . Disney parks , Raiders game in Vegas , Yosemite , Sequoia, SF, Pacific coast. Didn’t go too crazy but picked up some nice used vinyl in Zia Records Vegas, White Rabbit Records in Fullerton & Amoeba on Haight . Spent $60 in Amoeba and picked up 12 albums ! Loved it . Lots of stuff that’s fairly scarce in Australia , like Pat Travers , Jo Jo Gunne , couple more Dead albums to beef up the collection 😂Would have liked to catch up …. Maybe next time mate . Keep up the excellent posting you do 😎👌🇦🇺
Hey JT. Great video! What a killer haul! Weirdly I mentioned Donnie Iris & The Jaggerz in my latest video as well. Great minds and finds think alike. 😺 cheers
No way.. That's crazy ! I ordered King Cool from 1981 because I'm enjoying Back On The Streets so much. And he was in Wild Cherry as well ! Thanks, Bobby
I did pretty good, and I like.. Year Of The Cat ! I sent your records yesterday. I bet it gets to Central Cal fast. The Dwight Twilley is very good, and Mothers Live At Fillmore East for a buck was cool !
Yeah like Al Stewart ‘Time Passages’ and ‘Year of The Cat’ for me I remember the 70’s radio with those two songs and Gerry Rafferty’s ‘ Baker Street’ ( Which I do own).. I am looking forward to what you have sent my way, thank you JT.. Take care my friend, God bless.
Wow what an obscure selection in that first shop lol. Nuns to pets to Donnie Iris. Just a couple weeks ago I passed on that exact Dionnie Iris album. There was a sealed copy maybe even 2 at Jay’s Unique Thrift Shop in Questa New Mexico where I got the Lucky Joe Almond 78 off the ceiling 😂. Those Donnie Iris albums have been there since January 2024. Some great single titles, especially that MC5 reissue or not, great score! Boxcar Willie is one of the greatest names ever unfortunately his music not so much 😂 right? Emma Watson’s brother did a demo of their family Gin (Renais) at my employer. He was a really nice young man and the Gin is amazing. Their father has an impressive background. Great Mother’s and Stan! Nice Getz, all of them! ✌🏽
I know ! My copy of Donnie Iris was in that bin for at least a month ! I really like it, and have King Cool from 1981 on order from Discogs ( 11.00 ) It took a little diligence, and Sean came with me on the last day to SPCA thrift.. The best records were there ! My method is, when I don't feel like going to one more shop... Go !
Haha.. The Crystal Gaye best of I already have.. and like ! I think Willow was a calendar. That Robben Ford, Tom Scott and Larry Williams sealed is something I might go back for. If it's still there ! Thanks, Greg
So very cool to finds Jt. Magazine, MC5!!! Richard Hell Wow! 3 of the best bands in punk & post punk imho. Those Music Explosion & Five Americans 7"s I was given by the greast Garner of Born Outta Time YT fame. Classic Stones & Spencer Davis too. Nice finds mate 👍
Garner is one cool dude, for sure. I remember when I first met you, I interacted with him a bit, Hes not a social as you and I ! I did good on this one, Ben, and Im equally pleased with my Dwight Twilley find as well ! I couldn't believe seeing Richard Hell on that 7" .. She had it marked at 10.00 USD.. A steal, definitely !
Hey there, Mike ! I'm glad someone mentioned Al Stewart's " Year Of The Cat" I like, even more nowadays ! Pssap does a wonderful cover of it, circa 2006. MC5, Richard Hell, and Magazine were all in the case up front in the thrift shop.. Still very reasonable, though .. 5.00 USD for Magazine, and 10.00 for Blank Generation
It's one of my favorite activities, and finding good quality records VG+ or better for cheap is quite a rush, indeed ! 🎵 Thanks for checking my stuff out.. Cheers from Nevada
Nice background soundtrack in first store of Cars/Drive. how the hell you pass on that Nuns calendar. You coulda relived all the great moments from 2020. Love Comes in Spurts is great tune. Have you ever listened to second Power Station album? I can’t get into it at all.
No, I never heard the 2nd Power Station .. I could not believe Richard Hell Blank.Generation was at that shop.. ( Close to where we had Mexican food ). It was 10.00, well with it on the original Sire label. Good to hear from you, Steve
Donnie Iris is the best. It’s a good album. He’s still touring in the Pittsburgh area. Nice 45’s. I’d get the Johnny Rivers disc too. Nice stuff. Rita Coolidge is a taker.
Tony, I thought of you when I figured out who he was ! I ordered King Cool because Back On The Streets was so good ! This whole dig started with me going back for that Donnie Iris sealed record.. I guess he's in his 80's now. Lots of famous people from Pittsburgh, and the surrounding towns !
The Magazine 7" was 5.00 USD. I will go back for a Robert Gordon single as well.. If its still there ! The Richard Hell OG blew my mind, Harris ! It was 10.00 , but worth a lot more ! Live that Beefheart cover 👍
I only know Donnie Iris for the song "Ah! Leah!." I do know "The Rapper" song but did not know it was Donnie Iris. There were some nice 45's at that second thrift store. I've always liked the song "Little Bit Of Soul." Great Dwight Twilley album, the king of power pop (according to me). My luck is still not very good at thrift stores except for DVD's. Great Richard Hell find plus those Rolling Stones singles.
Thanks for mentioning my Dwight Twilley " Sincerely." This is the first time that I have run across this record on vinyl, anywhere ! Phil Chapman solo stuff is good as well, once the two friends parted ways. The B Side to " Little Bit Of Soul" is excellent ( I See The Light ) ! As far as luck goes for thrifting.. It took me 4 stores to come up with a nice bundle, overall ! Thanks, Randy
I just watched a video today where someone showed Mama Lion! What’s the chance of that? Love that Donnie Iris album, when that came up it blew up the radio, so darn catchy. I always congratulate for your patience JT
Crazy about Mama Lion, I know Vinyl Martini picked it up recently. I prefer Lydia Pense much more than Lynn Carey.. Not as convincing and committed as Lydia and...Janis !
Yes, they do sell Cd's ! For years, I bought so many ( 5000 ) I have to restrain myself not to get anymore.. Unless I gind that special one ! Haha. Thank you, Thiago 🌏
i think that's kind of cool, you very rarely see records from the 2000's in thrift stores like that Ed Sheeran record,i wish i did more, cause the new ones are damn expensive.
So true ! I found Lady Gaga and Bennett at my Carson City digs ( about 6 or 7 videos back ). Also, 2.00 each like my Ed Sheeran. I highly recommend getting out there in the real wild, driving around, and connecting with people. Many pickers want to sell as well ! Thanks
The Donnie Iris is good. Don’t Worry Baby/I Get Around is a great single. Little Bit Of Soul by Music Explosion is very good single. I have the album which is also very good. The Magazine and Richard Hell are very cool singles.
The B Side.. "I See The Light" for The Music Explosion is even better ! The Donnie Iris is so complete, ( Back On The Streets ).. I just bought "King Cool" from Discogs in the shrink for 12.00. Blank Generation will be a good LP for me to find !
50 cents for 45's that's cool? the Association looks interesting , some country music Crystal Gayle , Dottie West , Kenny Rodgers , Dwight Twilley , Helen Ready , Ann Murray , any hits on that Kenny Rodgers album? some Dance music Doscotheque how classic, Chet Atkins looks interesting, interesting Canned heat !!!! nice records.
I know who Donny Iris is. The Rapper,,Play That Funky Music. Ah Leah. Looks like someone dropped off a Crystal Gayle collection. I will be seeing her concert this Friday. I liked the 45s too.
I should have picked up her greatest hits, I don't think I have it. Hope she sings "Miss The Mississippi" for you in concert ! You and I do like our 45's ! Coolness 😊
The Champs that is the band that recorded "Tequila".. and Seals& Crofts were in that band Great finds.. Magazine..and Richard Hell..The flip side of Magazine single I love you dummy is a cover of a Capt.Beef heart song..
And a cool Beefheart cover it is ! Interesting about Dash Crofts & Jimmy Seals. I have other The Champs on 7" vinyl as well ! Magazine and Richard Hell.blew my mind when I saw those singles.. I kept my cool, though.. Haha 😂 Thanks, Isa
Surprised you didn’t know Donnie Iris. I believe he wrote the song son of a rapper ( name? ) an Early 70’s hit. Of course his big hit in the 80’s Love is like a Rock
I remember the big hit on the radio.. I was 13. At that time, I liked "Baby It's You" an awful lot, but radio was so good back then ! Donnie Iris wasn't big at all here out west. It's funny how music is regional at times.
It's cool, I had a feeling you didn't see my little segment on "The Rapper" and Donnie. Long vid anyway. I shoot for 12 min. to 18 if I can make it work !
That was fun JT, great great finds, very happy for you. Always a Pleasure 🎶❤️✌🏼
Dwight Twilley " Sincerely" and Donnie Iris have been fun to listen to , although those 45's are somewhat valuable, especially Richard Hell Blank Generation 7' Thanks, Olivier !
Ah! Leah! Nice to see that Anne Murray records are in your thrft shops, too 😂 Epic finds, again. Happy to see that you grabbed the Jane Siberry LP.
The Surfaris' 1963 Hit "Wipe Out" Was Based Off Of This Great Single ! .. Oh Well.. Next Time ! ♨
Nice haul JT, especially the 7"s. I got a copy of that Magazine single recently. Definitely worth the effort there. Cheers Dale

nice finds, I always enjoy watching your digs
Thank you Harry ! And thanks again for helping me out with my VU debut 1968 pressing.. Now I know and studied the details of the various releases.( the early ones, anyway )
JT, thrifting with the thrifter. Mother’s was the big find, I think. Oh the 45’s were excellent. All great stuff. Peace ☮️ Namaste 🙏 the Zonkman
I think so ! Fillmore East Live with The Mother's w/ Flo & Eddie ( Turtles ). I do like my Dwight Twilley Sincerely" pick as well. Thanks, Steve🎵
Hi JT. Very cool 45's. Magazine and all. Thanks for letting us come with 😊
Sure thing ! Sean came with on the last day.. I took him to Sushi afterwards for being a good sport for going thrifting with me.. Thanks, Morten
@ He he, food is a good bribe 😄
You found some great 7-inch singles. I never find punk at thrift shops. Magazine and MC5🤩. Great Stones singles. "Don't Worry Baby." It's such a beautiful song. I own the Richard Hell single as well. Great haul bro
I'm enjoying these.. even Year Of The Cat ! Haha ( there is a great cover by Psapp from 2006 )
"Nuns Having Fun" must be a very rare album and you passed on it? Haha. Seriously, some great 45s there. I love Rivers' "Poor Side of Town" song and that Bar-Kay 45 looks fab!

This was another fun one to put together, and Sean went with me on the last day.. Thanks !
Good records pickups.
Hey Daryl.. Thanks, and I'm enjoying all of these. Dwight Twilley was a cool find, I never see this one, ever !
Hello JT, Great find on those 45's. I am starting to focus more on 7" records.
45's are fun ! I get caught up spinning them from time to time. I won't let myself collect 78's or 8-Tracks ! I do like cassettes as well Thank you 👍
Some great 45's there, and a cool way to show them (and your LP finds) as well.
Some great finds especially those punk 7”s. WOW ! I was at that Zappa concert in 1971. Tickets were $3, $4 and $5 tops. Those were the days.
Yeah, Jon.. Those were the days, and it smelled good in the concert halls back then ! 🤣 I couldn't believe The Mother's " Live At Fillmore East" was there ( 2.00 ). And besides " Ah Leah" the album is packed with good, well written tunes ! King Of Cool" I just received in the mail from Discogs.. 12.00, I think ?
@jtsrecordroom3963 Well I'll be on the look out for Donnie Iris now then!
King Cool is what the other good one is called.. They should be inexpensive, for sure !
Nice thrifting JT . Thanks for posting 😎👌 Love that Mothers LP
Willie The Pimp and Peaches En Regalia is on that one, of course ! Were you guys in the Bay Area already ? ( SF ) Cheers, Craig
@ Yes returned home today . Had a great 3 weeks .
Awesome ! I bet the family loved it as well..
@ Had a terrific time . Disney parks , Raiders game in Vegas , Yosemite , Sequoia, SF, Pacific coast. Well you have better luck than I ever do at my local thrift stores😂 You got some cool rekkids JT enjoy🤗 I hope all is well.
I did pretty good, and I like.. Year Of The Cat ! I sent your records yesterday. I bet it gets to Central Cal fast. The Dwight Twilley is very good, and Mothers Live At Fillmore East for a buck was cool !

I would have gotten Willow and the nuns just for the heck of it
Haha.. The Crystal Gaye best of I already have.. and like ! I think Willow was a calendar. That Robben Ford, Tom Scott and Larry Williams sealed is something I might go back for. If it's still there ! Thanks, Greg
Therapy with morning coffee.
Me too.. Peet's blend and it's almost 9 am here in Reno ! Thanks for looking in
@jtsrecordroom3963 Try some New Orleans style coffee and chicory. You'll never go back.
Blank Generation and Magazine 45s fantastic. And you got a UK pressing of Year of the Cat, one of my all time favourite albums. 👍👍👍
I like a thrift store video - we have charity shops in the U.K. but normally slim pickings 😂
It's one of my favorite activities, and finding good quality records VG+ or better for cheap is quite a rush, indeed ! 🎵 Thanks for checking my stuff out.. Cheers from Nevada
@ yep me too ! And I quite enjoy cleaning and restoring vinyl afterwards ! 👍🫡🇬🇧
Me Too ! On my The Mother's LP.. I took a big eraser to the cloth cover, and it cleaned up the dirt ring wear nicely, for instance.
@ 👍 and I use car polish to clean up laminated album covers !

@ king kool is a good album. I like the song Agnes.
Lovely non album track by Magazine, with a Captain Beefheart cover on the flip. Thats hard to find in the UK, must go for a few bob over there!
The Magazine 7" was 5.00 USD. I will go back for a Robert Gordon single as well.. If its still there ! The Richard Hell OG blew my mind, Harris ! It was 10.00 , but worth a lot more ! Live that Beefheart cover 👍

@jtsrecordroom3963 hahaha Nice! A Hug 🤘🏻👏🏻👏🏻

@ I See The Light is also on their album. The Blank Generation single is better than the album.
Thanks, Richie.. I'll probably lay off of wanting The Richard Hell debut.. Too many other good records out there to get !
50 cents for 45's that's cool? the Association looks interesting ,
some country music Crystal Gayle , Dottie West , Kenny Rodgers , Dwight Twilley , Helen Ready , Ann Murray ,

nice records.
Bunches of hits on the Kenny best of !
You’re up awful early today
I time my video's for Wednesday morning 3 am west coast time.. I'm sleeping right about then !
The Dandelion single with We Love You should have been included on Satanic Majesties Request instead of the last song, On With The Show.
John and Paul sing on We Love You.
I remember you saying that from one of your video's featuring SMR. It would have made the album !
Coolness 😊
These later Donnie Iris albums are excellent ! Thanks, Catherine
@@jtsrecordroom3963 Maybe you can go back to the store and pick up the greatest hits. It might still be there.
The Champs that is the band that recorded "Tequila".. and Seals& Crofts were in that band
Great finds..
I believe he wrote the song son of a rapper ( name? ) an
Early 70’s hit. Of course his big hit in the 80’s Love is like a Rock
The Rapper. I wished Icould remember the exact name
lol. Should have watched the entire video before chiming in
I remember the big hit on the radio.. I was 13. At that time, I liked "Baby It's You" an awful lot, but radio was so good back then ! Donnie Iris wasn't big at all here out west. It's funny how music is regional at times.
The Rapper is such a cool tune ! It should have taken over number 1 from Bridge Over Troubled Water !
It's cool, I had a feeling you didn't see my little segment on "The Rapper" and Donnie. Long vid anyway. I shoot for 12 min. to 18 if I can make it work !
You didn't get Mama Lion? I would have bought that album.
mr. Finglish (Bäd English Recs)
I did buy it, Recs ! I should listen again.. I prefer Lydia Pense and Janis when it comes to that blues/ soul R&B style
@@jtsrecordroom3963 I didn't know about Mama Lion before. But someone showed it on youtube, so I listened clip from her.
Tommorow morning, I'll give it a better listen. Thanks for asking about this LA band, I was always curious !
No wonder we can't find anything interesting in Reno thrift stores.... JT went there first ;-)
So true ! Haha🤣 You said it, Bruno !
