Song hits really close to home with me, I helped take care of my grandfather for the last 2.5 years of his life. I dropped college, I dropped the job I had, just to make sure he lived a decent life until he passed.
The world needs more people like you. I hope you got your career back. I've been there before and now is time to worry about you, you deserve it. My prayers are with you and good luck!
I’m in a similar situation I could be in school and have a car and a home with my significant other but I stoped it all so my sister would get her ged she’s a single mom with tow amazing kids but can’t stop work to go to school so I did the work for her
"waking up everyday is all about doing things you don't want to do" hits home hard. Work is like our life man, doing a job I would drop in a heartbeat just for the money and the joy of wasting 2000 hours a year...
After losing my Grandpa in March of this year this album (especially Jake's half) really hits home. I already felt a connection with Bren as I've been stuck in an endless loop of hiding myself away and smoking to try to relieve my anxiety for a while and lockdown pushed me even further down the rung. This band is/was beautiful and even if they don't come back I'm glad they were about in my lifetime
you hold my hand you hold your liquor projection screen had ceased its flicker you gave me a tiny taste of your truth i was starved and you were full i drove back home when you got sicker disputing claims that you still held the TV clicker and face was flushed still in my mind the waiter asked if she was fine oooooooooo you need to hide its in your framework look me in the eyes and act like i don't know how shame works your compass spins in reverse the trees do timelapse speed growth the sky is lost behind a sea of green she's acting like she knows what's up she's trip-tripping that devotion stuff breaking like her bread wont puff she's sip-sipping from the holy cup waking up everyday is all about doing things you don't want to do but you're rewarded you get to wake up
This song is special to me My grandpa was sick for a long time and I remember when he passed away i was on a vacation and i had to drive back home when i found out and i listened to this song a couple of times and really understood it and overall just this song has a great sound And i really appreciate jake’s writing
Modern Baseball is more than just a band to me. Their documentary got me to reach out to friends about everything I'm dealing with, their songs comfort me, their obvious friendship made me happy. And yes, I did sing along to Just Another Face at the end of Tripping in the Dark, and yes, I cried.
I love Modern Baseball's sound so much, this is just so sophisticated and I fucking love it so much. They will always have this quirky flare we can all relate to which is why we love them so much, but this song hits really fucking deep.
I'm so in love with this song, even mor than "Apple cider...", and that's strage to me, i was always more into bren songs. By the way, i can't wait for the album
This song reminds me of my mom. No matter how much she tries to convince me, she won't be ok. And me realizing I need to do everything she doesn't want me to do.
I am sure he knew that but is his point is still pretty valid. Both of their voices have really changed since the Nameless Range back in 2011. I mean hell they were so much younger 5 years ago!
You hold my hand You hold your liquor Projection screen Had ceased its flicker You gave me tiny tastes Of your truth I was starved And you were full I drove back home When you got sicker Disputing claims That you still held the TV clicker Anna's face was flushed It's still in my mind The waiter asked If she was high You need to hide It's in your framework Look me in the eyes And act like I don't know how shame works Your compass spins in reverse The trees do time lapse speed growth The sky is lost behind A sea of green She's acting like she knows what's up She's dripping sipping that devotion stuff Breaking like her bread won't puff She's sipping sipping from that holy cup Waking up every day is all about Doing things you don't want to do But your reward is you get to wake up
Do the vocals sound a little odd to anyway? I absolutely love them, it just seems like at the very start of the song, Jake's voice seems a lot higher and more nasally than usual, although it goes back to normal later in the song.
Honestly, so far this album isn't proving to have the best songs. They kinda sound the same and a bit bland. I was hoping for some awesome unique stuff. Hopefully it ends up that way!
It's a lot more sad or something. I mean they were always kinda jokingly self deprecating type sad but this feels a lot more honest. Not as energetic as the last record but I think it sounds terrific. Actually more excited for this album than I thought I'd be.

you're a good man. Kudos to you
Thanks man. I wasnt comfortable talking about that period of my life until the past few years.

I bet he appreciated that so much. Similar situation with my grandad. This comment made me tear up with good memories. Cheers my guy!
This song told me that life will be okay , like "its okay to come home" " its okay to grow up" "its okay to be hurting" "its okay to be alive"

This song has been my go-to song heading off to work and getting off work. And now that I have resigned, this hits different.
I love how their sound has matured since their last album. So pumped to hear the rest of this album
My favorite part 1:49 to 2:05. The bass guitar is so great !
holy shit Jake's voice has improved so much. was seriously not expecting that falsetto at the beginning. chills.
flexing his voice on us lol

Love the album artwork. Utah is tight. Seagull Book reppin
This is literally amazing, I hope the whole album is as great as this song
I can't get over this fucking song. So well arranged and sonically so moving. I can't take it. 10/10

His voice has changed quite a bit since the first record.

They're never gonna top you're gonna miss it all but I'm fine with this. Very excited to see what they come up with.
+Will Lozinak i actually loved YGMIA but i liked sports better
+Will Lozinak You haven't even heard the full album...
sports is way better. That's their best album
+Hunter Schaeffer well its all subjective, but yeah, i agree
I think the couples therapy EP has some of their best songs. Unfortunately anything before sports no one seems to know or care about
Bandcamp when?

anyone else notice ian singing the last line? Thought that was awesome
Reminds me of Nada Surf
YOU HOLD MY HAAAAAAAAAAND
Is it me or does Jacob sing every song on this album? I haven't heard one with Brendon yet.
max79_99 first half is jake, second half is Brendan
Is it just me or do these guys pick up where Jets to Brazil left off?
This reminds me of Tigers Jaw's Charmer
+Jacob Dunn yes I hope Ben and Brianna get to recording some new songs together soon!
🤘⚘
she's acting like she knows what's up.
Is this in a movie?
Lilly Whitten No, not yet, but it has a familiar sound
Is Jake singing?
+CynicalDuty Yeah he's singing on half the album I believe
+Sonic Theory Yeah, I think I read that one side of the record is Jake songs and the other side is Bren songs.
Yes
is this brandon?
It's Jacob, Brendan's song is "apple cider". The whole album is basically a split between the two of them.

I was very surprised with his review
I'm only ok with mobo and weezer putting themselves as the album artwork. No other band can ever pull it off

I like the two new songs, but they are really boring, compared to their old stuff. the lyrics are amazing though.
