Big thanks to Tyler, Jordan, and Archery Country for patiently walking me through the whole setup process! What's your top tip for someone just getting started with bow hunting?
I retired my 20yr old Parker bow last month for a Hoyt Alpha X 30". Wow what a difference. That Mathews Lift looks sexy af too. Very hard decision which one of the two to choose at the end, but I've never owned a Hoyt & she shot just a tiny little better for my own feel, so i went with the Alpha X. Congrats Tim!
Just set up this same bow in a 33, got the fade to black color that goes from dark green to black. Super stoked with how it feels, shoots, and looks. It’s a sick bow all around.
Learn to squeeze and let the bow surprise you, Tim. Lock your finger on the trigger and then pull through your shot with your elbow. Take your fingers independent movement out of the equation. The surprise is your friend. Anticipating your shot can and will for most people lead to that nasty term (target panic) which is not something that I wish on any shooter but comes from the anxiety of shot anticipation. Learn to accept the pin movement at full draw and execute the squeeze through the movement and let the shot break. As a competition archer and bow hunter with 25+ years of experience, that would be my advice to you. Happy hunting!
Great video! I have never gone bow hunting but it would be good to work on a consistent draw first. I was at an archery country in Austin because I friend gave me a gift card and I bought quiver to hold all my arrows. Thank you for the interesting video!
Very good brother!!!! It's always good to learn more about what we like with professionals like these guys!!! I also agree with you, we need to have physical contact with these guys to learn, ask questions and find out what's new in the world of bow hunting. I have a crossbow and I hunt in the South of Portugal!!! A hug to everyone!!!! Be safe!!!!
This is incredible - I’m shooting a 20 year old Matthews and wanting to upgrade but I had no idea what is available in the market. Thanks for doing this video!!
Hi Tim ... Mathews bows are perfect ! You need just one pin from 5 to 50 yards with tilting system ( i've same equipments ) best Regards overs seas from Hoyt compound and Dwyer longbow shooter ;-) Respect for your service ! and MMA fighting from a Military Veteran
He should have recommended the Axcel carbon sight with the carbon bar is a lot lighter. All in all awesome setup and thanks for sharing your experience there!
Brother, you should’ve gone to Spokane Valley archery. You would’ve left there a lot more confident plus Josh is also a UA-camr so he wouldn’t have been nervous on TV. Not only that he’s so full of information he would’ve blew your mind.
Moving the site to where you're hitting. JUST like in a riflescope. I've stuck with a Bowtech Assassin for quite a few years now. I tend to re-string every other season but I spend less time behind a bow than I use to. Just whitetail season in Ks. Just filled the freezer with Pronghorn buck and doe at 558yds and 430yds, respectively, in Montana. Didn't want to be stuck just eating a gnarly whitetail buck this winter🤣
@TimkennedyMMA - Id love to get you introduced to Chris, the Owner of HHA sports. Excellent human being, does a ton to support veterans, Christian, and they make the best bow sight on the market hands down.
@@TimkennedyMMA yep I agree, I just find the merger of these two obscure activities interesting. I’ve Bowhunted for 40 years and started my BJJ career 30 years ago with Mark Eccard and Rickson Gracie, back in the days when Joe Rogan would come in and watch classes. I think Rogan’s influence has brought these two activities together, very few mainstreamers bowhunted before Cam showed up on the podcast a few years back, someone I’ve followed for 20 years. Very interesting indeed, amazing how this has all come together, best of luck
My fellow bravo4 it’s a lot different than rackin a bolt and cheek to stockin a long gun ! Archery is hard as shit ! But I absolutely love it ! Team Mathew’s brother ! Stick with it and good luck this season man!!
Keep in mind you get what u pay for.. same last year new bow. And the tech now . U have a dig. Sight click a button and it sets your pins for you . Insane … I’m old school . Floating sight ..
This video could have been 1000 times better if it was with a UA-cam archery nerd vs just a cool local shop. You should reach out to Josh jones at podium archer and get the best content and knowledge at the same time. Anyways have fun shooting your new bow!
NO TIM! The Lift will crack limbs every 13 seconds!!!! I am a Mathews dude and went back to the Z7 recently. Should've done your research. Buy a backup and you'll be good.
Had mine for months, about 1000 arrows so far, not one single issue. It was a single batch issue that's been fixed, and they even made the warranty better on them
Archery country is a joke of a shop. Ordered custome GAS string for a bow, they took my old strings and cables off and then realized they ordered the wrong ones. They did this twice, back to back, same bow. Had some friends with similar issues, whether it’s bow orders, arrow orders, or just wanting a basic tune. Don’t let the influencer force this BS of most renown or quality bow shop down your throats. Obviously Joe Rogan, nock on and others are going to get special treatment
Big thanks to Tyler, Jordan, and Archery Country for patiently walking me through the whole setup process! What's your top tip for someone just getting started with bow hunting?
You should go on Cam Hanes' podcast/run, lift, shoot.
Work on the fundamentals first then worry about expensive upgrades after you get the basics down without thinking

Some people get into hunting later in life and I absolutely love it. So many valuable life skills are learned pursuing wild game.

Great video saved this one for my visit to Archery Country 🤘🏼
Great vid. Thanks Tim! 🇺🇸I’m leaning toward the Hoyt Alpha X next year
Good choice! Can’t go wrong with anything from Hoyt, Mathews, or PSE.

I go in there occasionally. Great guys at Archery Country. I remember their old location off burnet and 183…

I can see Tim hunting wild Boar with a spear only!! I mean, can you see this guy sitting in a tree jumping down into a Boar with a spear? Yes!
Best shop in the US. for your Mathews Bow. Reedy's archery. Middleboro Massachusetts, & Amherst Virginia. 🇺🇲🏹🥩🇺🇲
Everyone better say that their own bow shop is the best bow shop on the planet
@@TimkennedyMMA I'm just joking around. Good luck hunting this year Bud 👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Love the video!! But most famous in the world?!? I’m going with Lancaster for that one. lol love what you are doing otherwise lol
Every hunter should brag about “their” bow shop.
Mmmmmmmm, Timmy: brand new limb cracks
Good video 🤙
Compound bow... pfft?!?! Wes Wallace recurve for the win!!
20:03 Tim’s mind is still on hunting bad guys.

I had to create a shot checklist to minimize variables while shooting. Anything to reduce needless variables is a must.
I still have my Mattew Outback!!!!!!

Like a gun shop, archery shop or a BJJ gym, just walk in. People will help you.
Best and nicest people.
It’s funny how the current culture is all about bowhunting and BJJ
Two pretty wonderful things.

That’s why you buy both releases and you put the strap on the trigger
Well that's an awesome shop

Archery is a learning process and i don’t know much about it

Good video but they had those kind of sights way back when you got your last bow too
0:04 never heard of it
Cha Ching....How long did you finance that for...lol
Stabilizer is like shooting a rifle vrs pistol
Did you paper tune?
Goody goober
Did he take a loan out to buy the bow and accessories 😳
What type of wrist releases are you using?
I have to use a thumb button right now because im too punchy with index releases 😢
Can I buy your old bow off you?
I have a older bow been looking for a Hoyt.
You selling that vxr?
What are you hunting? Deer, elk???
Next week is elk but deer season is right around the corner.
Wearing a legalize freedom shirt and supporting gun control against 18yo adults is kinda ironic
Yo Tim, Trump needs Sheepdog Response. Send him the boys. Send him a bill.
The ultimate hunt Tim are you hunting ppl again

Wouldn't trust my ultimate hunt on a potential limb issue
Is the entire "manosphere" jumping on the archery bandwagon...it sucks watching your sport and hobby get bastardized by these chodes.
Buddy you don’t need to spend all that money on scopes just pretend you’re hunting a 4 year old Iraqi kid and you should be gold
Hunting nowadays is tailored to the rich. I’ll pay you x amount of money if you can guarantee me a animal.
I think your eyebrows are getting hairier.
Go see mfjj in Spokane Washington. @podium archery this wouldve been an awesome collaboration
