    Originally from Wisconsin, we would boil the brats and onions for a spell in beer - they really suck up the flavor that way. Then grill them low and slow. Inglehoffer is my 'go to' mustard as well!

    After failing miserably trying to grill brats myself, i tried this recipe and it tastes amazing! My parents never taught me to cook since all of our meals growing up were either takeout or frozen food, but this cooking experience was super encouraging and i’ll be enjoying it for years to come!

    I use a tin, with sauerkraut, two bottles of larger and cook it on the grill with the brats. After an hour, move brats to the grill.

      I would have mixed the kraut with the onuions in the beer and then served it up with the brauts!!

    First thank you for the Asian rib recipe, it was exactly what I was looking for. Second Todd did a great job on the brats. Third please put in a drive-thru window, I need four brats to go.

    Also of German heritage I've been making beer brats for years and was making them today and decided to poke around and look at other approaches. Nice video. I call it a brat hot tub but holding bath works. Saw Ebbyman413 comment and I also put the brats in the hot tub first and then char them up and then back in the hot tub. I also add a couple table spoons of minced garlic to the tub. Like your choice of mustard!

    Love brats/ Italian sausages on the Weber kettle with a little wood smoke. I have always wanted to try onions in beer a beer bath , now I have to. Thanks Todd, well done and brownie points for you.

    I've been doing them this way for years! I use a little more beer and then I can hold the brats for hours in the oven or on the indirect side of the grill.

    Well, my last name is “Schmelz” which is about as Bavarian as it gets, and my first assignment in the Air Force was in Germany in the mid 80’s (actually West Germany at the time, and brought several very confused German Jehovah!s Witness proselytizing to my doorstep due to the last name), and I can sign off on these 😀.

    Nice job Todd, the brats look amazing, gonna try this recipe real soon. Next time you make sauerkraut, add some caraway seeds, they take it to a whole new and delicious level. Being Polish and all, that’s what I grew up with and cannot eat kraut without caraway sends.

    I would have cooked the onions a lot longer to get nice and brown, all you did was to boil them.
