Man, sometimes you know how to read my mind. I got the a7iv this year after long deliberation, and I've been quite pleased with the results. But I keep wishing I had the fx3 or a7siii for their slow motion capabilities. So this video really helped me understand precisely what I'm missing. I'm good for now, but next time I upgrade, I'm definitely using an affiliate link from you. Cheers.
Thank you for creating this video :-) i can see a clear difference between 1080 vs 4k resolution. it became more obvious at low light. I am debating between ZVE1 vs A7cII for traveling. I live in Houston and you know how hot it gets. By the way, what lens did you use? was it 35-150mm at f2.8?
You’re welcome! Thank you for watching! But yes the lowlight of the a7siii and zve1 is superior by far with the 120fps and also the 4k haha it can be used with the a7iv and a7cii but definitely a lot nicer with the zve1 and a7siii due to the iso being 12,800 for the second base iso in slog3! But I am in Texas too and haven’t had any issues with the zv-e1 yet so depending what you plan to do with it, you might be fine! And I did use the 35-150 and sometimes at f2 and sometimes at 2.8!
Sorry if I missed it, but I would love to see 240FPS on the A7s III scaled up to see whether something like da Vinci resolve can rescue that detail . Plain as day, the noise on the A7s III is soooo good. Thanks for this.
Yes, thanks. I put a comment up there. I like the A7s III, I just wish they would make it open gate 240 FPS, @ 4K. Not too much to ask for! :)@@EasyTigerCreative
@@nicklaytonUK I saw! Haha but yea would be great to get open gate throughout all styles of frame rates cause it would make my workflow for horizontal and vertical videos a lot easier
For me it comes down to how offten I use 120fps. After 2 years with the a7siii I can count the number of times I've really wanted/used the 120fps on it. It's a great tool to have but for most cases 4k60 is good enough for me. I'd rather have the more versatility that the A7iv has over 4k120
That makes sense for sure! I’ve noticed that I do use 120fps but not always do I slow it down fully haha like I’ll use it as a crutch to use it do 20% or 40% slow down just whatever I needed in case I didn’t have time to change in camera if I’m on the go. But honestly I’ve been shooting mainly 4k 24 and rarely do slow mo unless I deliberately plan for it but hasn’t been done that often lately haha
So are you willing to pay a little extra for that 4k 120fps for lowlight, or will you be fine at 1080p? 🤔
it's more on what you really want, niche video camera or a hybrid (almost best of both the worlds). I am #teamA7IV . :)
@@fnaticmedia makes total sense!!
Got the A7iv ages ago... would love the A7siii for video
@@Athiril it’s definitely a great video camera!
With Davinci Resolve you can use superscale or enhanced superscale and final outpout can be even sharper on A7iv.
I’ve heard of that! I don’t use DaVinci but might be having to in 2024! So would be good to test out!

I used the examples of different frame rates here and the 240fps is upscaled to 4k!
