Did you set the Extend option?
Does this G2 dock support 4K@60hz on all three external displays on M1 mac?
No, because I only have one 4K monitor. The refresh rate is at least 60 hertz on all three displays though. Thanks for watching.
UPDATE February 26th, 2023, I've verified that it does.
Tried these steps for the same docking station with my MacBook Pro M2 and it is still only recognizing one display and duplicating it on both. Any suggestions?
Out of curiosity, did the dock and drivers work with your MacBook Pro M1 or Intel?
@@Huy_Nguyen_USA The M2 is my first MacBook unfortunately
Are you running Ventura 13.0 as your OSx, installed DisplayLink Manager Graphics Connectivity 1.8 drivers, and configured Systems Settings => Displays => Extended display?
@@Huy_Nguyen_USA Yes, and I am able to extend to the monitors, but it is only showing one monitor and duplicates on both that plugged into the docking station.
@@samuelmarks4394 hi samuel, did you find a solution to this? :)
My MacBook won’t let me download the software 😢
Are you referring to the DisplayLink driver? Is this your personal MacBook or your employer’s issued MacBook?
If you are referring to the DisplayLink drivers, then it’s your security settings that is the culprit.
hiya, for my MacBook Pro m1, I've followed all the steps and it sats my Mac is unable to detect multiple displays, would you know why, I'm using the g2 5tw13aa#abb which doesn't have hdmi, I did every other step and it only duplicates the 2nd monitor, I also have a g5 and it does the same thing (this one does have hdmi port)
Let's start with a simple step: Try restarting your Mac and see what happens.
@@Huy_Nguyen_USA just don’t that and nothing has changed, the screens still duplicate :(
Hey Omar, did you go into: System Settings -> Displays -> under "Use as", make sure that "Extended display" is selected in the drop down. You might have done this already, but try changing ports on your Mac to see if that helps.
@@Huy_Nguyen_USA yep I’ve done that already and still the same issue, I saw another video saying I need a displyport to usb type c so I’ll try that and let you know if it works
@@Huy_Nguyen_USAgot a display port to usb-c and now the second monitor doesn’t pop up, don’t know how to get this working
Does it charge your mac
Yes, it does. Great question, thanks for asking.
@@Huy_Nguyen_USA do you know that wat output for this model you are showing? Im looking to buy one and there are different versions with different watts to them. for example 120w or 230w etc
Mine is the 230w, at the time of purchase, (mid 2020), it was the only model available in the United States. Cheers.
The link you provided does not go to the product page, could you please update this
I've removed the link in the description because I don't have time to constantly check to see if the link is still legit or not, however, at the time of this writing, this is the link to the product that i talked about: www.hp.com/us-en/shop/pdp/hp-usb-c-a-universal-dock-g2-p-5tw13aa-aba-1
Does this also work if the Macbook is in clamshell mode?
Yes, as long as the MacBook is plugged in.
does the headphone jack work?
doesn't on lenovo ones
Yes
Did anyone test this on the mac book air with m2?
Let me offer a preemptive apology because my answer isn’t exactly what you’re asking, I have tested successfully with a M-2 , but it was with a MacBook Pro
Does this have usb-c ?
Yes.
@@Huy_Nguyen_USA I can connect my monitor to it via usb-c ?
No, display port and hdmi.
Does this work with the Thunderbolt 3 Version of the dock as well?
I don’t understand your question, the G2 dock is a thunderbolt 3 (usb-c) dock. Could you please clarify?
@@Huy_Nguyen_USA Oh sorry I got a bit confused. It seems there's a version that looks similar but doesn't have "DisplayLink" written on it and is slightly larger. Model Numer: 2UK37AA#ABB
@aaronsporl493 Ahh, I see, the Model Number 2UK37AA#ABB appears to be an older model because of the VGA port. Hmmm, I think I would be leery with this one, especially if you have a Mac with the Silicon chip in it.
unfortunately this isn't working, my second monitor is not showing up in displays no matter what i do. thanks for the info in any case as it's the closest i've gotten.
What Mac do you have, what OS X are you running, and which drivers have you tried?
My notebook is very faster when I use without this dock and when I plug this dock it run very very slowly. 😢
Mac, Window, or Linux?
Windows
bro i have to same dock g5 and i have 2 diff monitor but i didn't display 3th monitor on my mac pro m2, i installed displaylink app and i have venture 13.0.1 i guess but it not working, help me :D and this displaylink is saying to me
please allow your displaylink device to connect to this mac, but i added to screen control i don't get it
Did you go into System Settings > Displays > Use as > Extended display?
It doesn't work with the G5, I had to trade for a G2.
i have a g5 and a M1 pro not working for me :(
You will have to trade your G5 for a G2.
@@Huy_Nguyen_USA okay thanks for the response
If you decide to get a G2, please note the model number, G25TW13AA#ABA . Thanks for watching. Good luck.
@@Huy_Nguyen_USA or i can go with wd19tb and run a display port and thunderbolt used ones like 6 month old are half the price!
If that works for you then that’s great.
Thank you
