Thank you so much for this! Had this dock and go monitor in the closet that I never used from my last job. Finally get to use it with my personal MacBook! But wanted to ask if I connect speakers to the HP doc will I get the sound from the MacBook? Or since the sound source is coming from the MacBook I’d have to connect the speakers to my laptop directly?
You can connect it to the dock, but selecting sound output will obviously be controlled in the MacBook sounds settings.

Yes, on Macs, it does. Although a direct equivalent of the dock that I have is the: "HP Thunderbolt Dock 230W G2", which is significantly more expensive than mine. Thank you for watching.
Hi, I have a mac 16 m1pro and two monitors connected via dp and hdmi. I connected everything to the hp hub, installed the DisplayLink manager, but the monitors still duplicate the image (as a result of affecting only 1 monitor)
Did you go into System Settings > Displays > Use as > Extended display? I'm presuming that you're using macOS Ventura?
I got my g2 docking station to work, just stuck in mirror. Display setting only shows 1 screen while laptops in clamshell.
I hear this issue often, usually it's solved with checking your System Settings => Display => mirror, or a reboot after setup.
I have a new mac mini M2 with 2 monitors connected through the hp hub but it´s recognizing both monitors as one and duplicating the image. I´ve also downloaded the driver.. Any suggestions?
Do you have the HP G2, or some other model? I’ve tested with the G2 and the G5, the G2 is the only dock that worked for me.
So I have a MacBook Pro (personal) and HP Laptop Elite (business). Do you know if I download the driver for Mac would it still work for the HP? I’m trying to have just one docking station for both.
The DisplayLink driver is meant for individual computer, and operating system. In other words, you download and install the driver for each computer. Thanks for watching.
I have a MacBook M1 (Sonoma 14.5) and the HP G5 docking station. I installed the display link driver. However, when I connect the USB C to the MacBook, the 2 external monitors mirror each other. Under the Display --> Arrange setting, I only see the Mac screen and one of the monitors. I am not sure what the issue is. Any tips are appreciated.
Unfortunately, it doesn't work with the G5, I'm using a G2 as stated in the video. You will have to trade your G5 for a G2: ua-cam.com/video/OXBlIam7DLs/v-deo.html

I've also been trying to connect the 5TW13AA to my M1 MacBook Air (Sonoma), and I was able to successfully extend the display using the method shown in your video.
However, there is one thing that concerns me. When using display extension with this method, app notifications such as Slack seem to stop functioning properly. (Notifications pile up in the Notification Center, but there is no sound or pop-up.) Notifications work normally when the 5TW13AA is not connected, and they also work normally when extending the display using a dock from another company that doesn't require DisplayLink.
Do you happen to know anything about this issue?
Did you enable “Allow notifications when mirroring or sharing the display” in System Settings?
With regard to docks without drivers for the Mac, I don’t know if any, especially now that modern Macs are ARM machines. Although that would be nice 😊. Thank you for watching my video.

If I have a MacBook circa 2015 that has a Thunderbolt Port and not USB C. How would I get this exact docking station to work with it?
This dock was designed specifically for Macs with the USB-C Thunderbolt 3 port, if you have an older Mac that don’t have these ports, I would find a less expensive option designed for older Macs. Otherwise you’ll have an expensive paperweight that won’t work.

Does this work with the G2 docking station and a Macbook Air m1? I've been attempting to figure this out forawhile and am following the instructions, but my mac is unable to detect multiple displays
I don’t know about the MacBook Air, I’ve tested with multiple MacBook Pros and it does work. One of my subscribers mentioned that the G2 did work with his MacBook Air.

Is there any other tip to improve the screen resolution? Unfortunately it is not the same quality as directly via hdmi

Hi! I would like to connect two external screens to my MacbookPro with MacOS Ventura using a HP thunderbolt Dock 230W G2. I downloaded the latest version on displaylink. But when I was done with all steps that you showed in the video the two monitors show the same screen. Do you maybe know why this does not work for me?

Hi Huy, you might be able to help me out. I have a HP G5 usb-c connected to my macbook air. My 2.1 dolby speakers are connected to my HP G5 via Aux. This works with a windows laptop but somehow with my macbook it does not work, when my macbook is connected to the HP G5 it keeps using the built-in speakers. When looking at Sound settings (system preferences), no other output hardware is shown other than built-in speakers. Any thoughts?
I'm presuming that by "Aux", you're referring to the Headphone input on the G5? So on my MacBook Pro with the M1, when I plug in an external speaker using the Headphone Port on the HP G2, (please note that I have the G2), in System Settings => Sound, I have the option of "HP USB Media Audio", if I select this option, then it works. I'm using Ventura 13.2.1.
Do you have an Intel or Apple Silicon M series MacBook? What operating system are you using in your Mac? Have you install and configure the most current drivers? Have you tried re-booting your Mac?

Hi mate I followed this on a MacBook Air with an M2 chip running Ventura 13.2, the screens are still duplicating. Also getting an error where it says "No Displaylink-enable display detected" on Displaylink icon in top right of screen. Using a HP Thunderbolt dock. Any advice?
I'm getting exactly the same with MacBook Air m1 and Ventura 13.1. Tried to install DisplayLink driver 5.2.5 instead of DisplayLink manager, and in the about > System report > Extensions I saw that the driver is kext blocked. Didn't go anywhere from there
Did you install "DisplayLink Manager Graphics Connectivity 1.8" driver, and follow my procedure verbatim? If you did than perhaps Ventura 13.1 is the culprit. On my MacBook Pro M1 Pro and MacBook Pro M1 Max, both running Ventura 13.0, it's working perfectly. I have two 4K monitors, and the dock is also charging the computers.
@@Huy_Nguyen_USA I figured out that I have a slightly different dock. It is an HP G2, but yours writes DisplayLink 4k on front where mine doesn't. So I'm guessing mine is not supported.

HELP!!! I have an HP 32" monitor connected to my MacBook Pro M1 and although it works, when I play a video the screen and my mouse freeze up, the screen goes black and then the login screen appears. I've talked to Apple a zillion times and they can't figure out the problem. Do you think the dock would work for me? Thanks so much for any help.
Hi Peggy, I don’t think the G2 is going to solve your current issue based on what you’ve indicated. Is your system settings for Display on mirror mode or Extended Display mode? If you are on Mirror mode, please change to Extend mode. Can you make a video of what’s happening and post it to your UA-cam channel? That way, I and the community can help you.
Does this G2 dock support 4K@60hz on all three external displays on M1 mac?
No, because I only have one 4K monitor. The refresh rate is at least 60 hertz on all three displays though. Thanks for watching.

I've downloaded the driver and enabled the screen recording.
My MacBook Air recognises the external monitor but the monitor doesn't work.
The monitor works when I connect my mac directly.

In the Mac’s System Preferences, did you “extend” the display?
@@Huy_Nguyen_USA yes, I've got that by default as normally work that way with the laptop connected directly to the monitor. The Mac recognises the external monitor but the monitor stays inactive :(

Yes, as long as the MacBook is plugged in.
Hi, I have a macbook air 2020 M1. I use the HP G5 to connect it to 2 monitors via displayport. Even after installing the drivers, the screens are still mirrored and the system sees it as 1 monitor. What should I do?
Please check your System Settings => Displays, and make sure that you “extend” your second monitor. It might also help to reboot your computer.

I have tested the Dock with a 2019 MacBook Pro with an i9, and it does work, but I have NOT tested with an i5.
I tested it today and only 1/3 monitors were shown in the display settings, but each one was then duplicated. Unfortunately, I can't control a monitor precisely (change resolution, etc.)

I have a 2019 Mac book pro and this dock just detects one monitor. I have both on DP.
That’s odd, my second laptop is a 2019 MacBook Pro i9, have you tried restarting the computer, or plug in the usb-c in a different port? Do you have the latest DisplayLink drivers?

hiya, for my MacBook Pro m1, I've followed all the steps and it sats my Mac is unable to detect multiple displays, would you know why, I'm using the g2 5tw13aa#abb which doesn't have hdmi, I did every other step and it only duplicates the 2nd monitor, I also have a g5 and it does the same thing (this one does have hdmi port)
Let's start with a simple step: Try restarting your Mac and see what happens.

Hey Omar, did you go into: System Settings -> Displays -> under "Use as", make sure that "Extended display" is selected in the drop down. You might have done this already, but try changing ports on your Mac to see if that helps.

Hi Huy, what are the chances I end up with your video again, this time for another issue. I've a HP G-5 & a MacBook Air M1. I've installed DisplayLink Manager & gave the permissions for screen recording. My 2 external monitors are mirrored (as before) while my Mac screen is extended. I tried rebooting a couple of times, I turned the permissions on/off a few times, with reboots. Still no joy. What am I missing?

Has it ever worked with the G5 and your current version of the DisplayLink driver? Have you tried a different version of the driver? I’m not able to replicate the issue with my G2 and MacBook M1 Pro.
it's the first time I'm trying. I tried different versions of the driver. I saw another video where the guy insinuates you have to use the "right" set of cables to connect the monitors to the dock: one HDMI & one display-to-usbC.... Not sure what to make of it. I had the G5 already which I was mainly using with a windows laptop. Meanwhile I kept searching & seems that the G2 has the display link hardware while the G5 doesn't. @@Huy_Nguyen_USA

Are you referring to the DisplayLink driver? Is this your personal MacBook or your employer’s issued MacBook?
If you are referring to the DisplayLink drivers, then it’s your security settings that is the culprit.

@aaronsporl493 Ahh, I see, the Model Number 2UK37AA#ABB appears to be an older model because of the VGA port. Hmmm, I think I would be leery with this one, especially if you have a Mac with the Silicon chip in it.

What Mac do you have, what OS X are you running, and which drivers have you tried?
