yeah, he was the only apprentice candidate who I would consider entrepreneurial, you can see him heading several businesses and doing so well. Setting up and running your ISP is no small feat. I don't know why Lord Sugars aides were downplaying that. Nowadays you have candidates who make it to the finals who work in their parents "family businesses" and some who never even run a business at all. He struck me as a guy who achieved things far earlier than anyone his age, and was living life fast forward, he died too young.
The thing about this video is that Stuart has a self knowing glint in his eye throughout, particularly in the boardroom scenes. For a show that takes itself so incredibly seriously yet is enjoyable because it’s so absurd, he knew instinctively how to get his personality across best for television. I always love coming back to it - golden moment after golden moment. A hero taken from us far too young :(
Even though he ruined it in the end by getting fired for lying on his CV, a part of me was satisfied that he duped Alan Sugar into firing the female candidate that was miles better than him. The Apprentice is a load of rubbish now. RIP Stuart Baggs, I enjoyed watching every minute of you on the Apprentice.
The way that he clearly doesn't know what "glass ceiling" means and unintentionally sounds like he's glad women can't get upper management positions...it's just too Brent.
I worked with Stuart and he was a really nice chap. He was down to earth & embarrassed about his appearance on The Apprentice. The claim that he owned a telecoms company was true, despite how it was edited, Bluewave Communications is still going
I remember watching an interview he did whereby he made the point that "fully licenced" did not mean what they made it out to mean in the programme. He really did seem a nice guy and I'm glad you knew him.
The fact people are still talking about him - and in generally glowing words - says a lot about the lad 😊. Such a shame he’s not around to see how well loved he’s become 🙁
I read in a newspaper today that he worked 18 hour days, leaving him only 6 hours to do other things let alone sleep! So I guess that this is a lesson for all of us i.e work-life balance etc.RIP.
PS I understand respect for people when they pass on. But it makes me laugh when people call others all the names under the sun, but as soon as they leave us, they're treated like an unrealized saint.
@You’rejustafreaklikeme That is not aimed at the Baggs at all. The 'Brand' was the most entertaining person in the History of the Apprentice. Was he really a Brand?. I think he might be. 😉🤣
@You’rejustafreaklikeme No worries mate. I am literally gutted about Stuart dying. He had more and done more in his short life than every single one of these keyboard warriors who are, no doubt, living in their mother's basement.
It never ceases to amaze me how when someone dies at a tragically young age like this, people swarm from the woodwork like a plague of crocodile-teared killer bees in order to express their “abject sorrow”. Unfortunately Stuart never got around to deciding whether he wanted to be seen as a court jester or an astute businessman, and it's very rare anyone is able to do both. Had Stuart been in a position to bend the ear of people like Richard Branson, Simon Cowell and Gordon Ramsay, they would have advised him that you must first ‘insulate yourself’ with a proven business record, and upwards of a £40m+ personal fortune, before you even think about opening yourself up to public scrutiny and (often) public ridicule. Contrary to how many thought of Stuart Baggs as an individual, he was actually quite an insecure young fella with (it has to be said), more than his fair share of self-delusional ideas of grandeur. As a result he was absolutely devastated at how he came across in ‘The Apprentice’, and latterly the ‘Come Dine With Me’ series - one of his fellow contestants being particularly cutting in her attempts to humiliate him. Contrary to the impression he’d have people believe, he didn’t go sky-diving or bungee jumping or rock climbing most weekends, and he was anything but the multi-millionaire he’d have some people believe. Nor was he some drug-fuelled party animal. He was just a regular guy who was trying to make a success of his life. Okay, so he was prone to exaggeration and ‘over-egging the omelette’ a lot of the time, but the last I heard, that wasn’t a crime… even on the Isle of Man! The preliminary post-mortem has thusfar proved inconclusive, however Isle of Man Police have made it clear that they’re not looking for anyone else in connection with Stuart’s death. And I think all but the most naïve of us know what that invariably suggests. I won’t come out with the usual/inane ‘R.I.P.” that seems mandatory on UA-cam and Facebook these days. Nor will I say “he was the funniest…”, because that’s not at all what Stuart was trying to be. Which of course means those who said so were clearly laughing at him rather than with him. Instead I’ll just say I think it’s far too early an end to what may well have ended up a very successful and contented life.
Itzdat Managgen usually when the death is inconclusive it means some drugs were involved and the family doesn't want it getting out. just saying. otherwise, i would agree with you. love or hate his on-screen persona he was a human being and will never experience a lot of life's great moments.
Jonathan Andrew Initially they just carry out a PPM over here (preliminary PM), to check for obvious things like gunshot wounds, bruising and lacerations etc. It's really just an external visual examination. So that's all they've reported on so far. They're carrying out a full PM today (Monday).Whether people agree with it or not, we don't have reporting restrictions over here like in the UK. So I'm afraid what families want or don't want in these sort of situations doesn't really come into it. Whatever the cause of death was, it will be in the local paper (no doubt in fine detail) once the full PM has been registered by the Douglas Coroner.Just for information purposes locally, (it's a very small island!) it's well known that Stuart wasn't into any sort of recreational drug use. Trust me, the whole island would have known if he had. For what it's worth I personally think it'll show he overdosed on something prescribed or otherwise which he'll have got for the specific purpose. These situations are always very sad really.
i saw some photos in another youtube video montage of him taken later in his life. was he a lot skinnier? did he really only sleep 4 hours a night? if so, that raises some red flags to me. when i saw the headline on yahoo news i remembered him instantly for some reason. i enjoyed the apprentice u.k. version (as well as the american version) and watched most of the seasons. i couldn't believe he was only 21 when he was on the show. people often forget that when criticising him. he was a decent guy. maybe a bit cocky, but who isn't at that age.
Jonathan Andrew Yes, he lost about 50 pounds since The Apprentice, but you can't really read anything into that (drugs-wise) given that his appearance on The Apprentice was nearly six years ago. By his own admission he was "a bit of a lard-arse" (his words not mine!), and lost that 50 pounds over about four years, and specifically after seeing himself on TV and joining a local gym and doing local charity walks on a regular basis. As for him only getting four hours sleep every night, I'm afraid that was yet more bluster on his part. Again by his own admission he was "full of it". Getting four hours sleep was a fact that came out in a documentary about Margaret Thatcher years ago. And she was someone he always saw as really successful and determined, regardless of what her political persuasion was. Branson reckons he only sleeps four hours a night as well by the way. Another person he admired almost to the point of obsession. Regardless of his own BS (or self-promotion as he thought of it), Stuart used to work about 12 hours a day, 7 days a week. Then he'd go home, watch a bit of TV or catch up with friends, and be in bed religiously before midnight every night apart from weekends. But yes, if he'd lost weight quickly and was only sleeping 4 hours a night, I'd have had my suspicions too, so I know why people would draw conclusions. In a lot of ways Stuart was his own worst enemy. One of these people who thought ANY publicity was better than no publicity at all. Unfortunately he never reached a stage of maturity to be able to decide whether he wanted to be some sort of celebrity, or some sort of successful businessman. And the saddest part is he never really attained either to a level he was content with. That's why he 'manufactured' this obnoxious charicature for the media i.e. simply because it got him invited to do radio interviews and TV appearances in the UK. Are you British or American by the way? (just curious!) Take care.
Sad to say that his Asthma got worse, and got to him in the end since he has died, with the amount of stress he couldn't endure. Rest In Peace to that comedian of a business man.
