This case is well known in the Toronto area. I've been following it for years. Kevin Donovan's book ("The Billionaire Murders") on the Sherman case fills in some of the details, for instance, he asserted that the killer(s) knew the Shermans because they used a particular doorway to get in the house that couldn't be seen from the street and was always unlocked. Toronto Police badly botched the investigation. Some evidence was found months later by a private investigator (namely, Honey's pearl necklace which found in drain that ran outside the pool room). TPS were busy investigating serial killer Bruce McArthur and sent inexperienced officers to the the Sherman crime scene because they had already decided it was a murder/suicide. It's also interesting to note that Apotex has now been sold - none of the children were interested in running the company. Nobody knows how much it was sold for, but you can bet it was billions.
It may sound ridiculous, but peoples' gait can be almost as unique as their face, so someone really can recognize someone walking in many cases, and computer software may be able to do even better.
I agree. It's part of our body language, like having a distinct accent. Moreover, l can tell this was a male walking by - males' and females' gaits differ due to the very nature of our anatomical differences.
That's true. One time I was in a store over 400 miles away from where I had gone to high school & as I was checking out, a man came up to me & asked "Are you...?" It happened to be a guy I had gone to school with (15 years before that meeting) & I said how did you know it was me? He said "Oh, I'd never forget your walk"... I had to laugh, cuz I looked totally different from when he had seen me last in HS. I've been told that by another person (after that), as well. So, I also believe that our gait is something that people can remember us by.
I don't understand why some people are so cavalier about making enemies. I'd have a harder time sleeping at night if I knew there was someone out there that hated me enough to murder me.
There's one aspect of this murder case that bares more scrutiny - Barry had many enemies which he admitted. So why was Honey murdered ? If someone had a vendetta against him , I don't see the advantage of taking her out at the same time. Who would gain from both being dead ? Or who would want both dead ? And the kicker , why would a billionaire who knew he had many enemies , not have a sophisticated alarm system ? In my opinion someone hired a killer/ killers and paid them very well - this was a very clean crime with no clues left behind because it was a professional hit that was well planned. It will never be solved unless someone makes a death bed confession.
Happy Holidays Doc! You are one of my favourite humorists. I think you have a book in you and it could be a bestseller, and a movie. You are one original character! 🎉
Good morning Dr Grande. Despite Barry being disliked, such a sad and senseless murders. I'm surprised he didn't have more security. My sympathy goes too his children. I also agree with your analysis. Thank you Dr Grande. Brilliant analysis, tragic outcome and topic.
I'm from T.O. The Sherman son has added millions to the reward for information - it's now THIRTY-FIVE MILLION (Canadian), a healthy incentive (mentally converted to any denomination you prefer). IMHO, few, if any, Ontarians (or Canadians) are paying more than cursory interest in the case: the general consensus seems to be that it was a professional hit. There are, and will be, no new leads. The person/s who paid for the hit did NOT intend for there to be any "comebacks"! And, there won't be! 🖖❤️🇨🇦
As always Dr. Grande, you never disappoint. Item #4 was great. Thank you for covering this in great detail. Obviously it could have been anyone. He was literally hated. Have a wonderful Christmas 🎄
The Jon Rallo case - he got a slap on the wrist never admitted what he did or felt remorse and the little boy still isn’t buried. They say he’s in a dump with the carpets
I'm a Torontonian and have been following this case for years. There have been many questions about the Toronto Police, with evidence coming forward months after the initial investigation. I dearly hope there is a resolution for the families soon. They razed the house, and left many possessions inside, which I always found odd.
Oh, I see how you've got traumatized by the death of these two billionaires. Barry was evel dishonest manipulator and put many people including his own family out of bussiness and was hated by many people, so maybe it was a form of justce?
I suspect that whoever killed them was a close relative or friend, because someone close would have more financial and much more emotional motivation to kill Barry. He had many enemies, but there usually isn't enough rage to overcome the social, legal, and moral barriers that prevent outside people from actually killing someone they despise. In addition, the killer knew the layout of the house, was familiar with the statue, and did not have to break in. Honey could have let the killer in, totally trusting whoever it was not to harm her. Finally, who, other than someone close to the victims, be motivated to pose them like the statue, announcing to the world that they are made of garbage, just like the statue? Someone who has much emotion involved.
AMEN TO WHOEVER WROTE THIS!!! GOD DOESN’T LIKE EVIL! And it seems to me they were both that way! He was an evil man and the wife had to have known her husband’s dealings. Therefore…if she stayed with such a man, being as treacherous as he was, then she was NO better than him!
Thanks for this one doctor. I know I asked you to do this analysis after this was posted and forgive me for not seeing this beforehand. Great job as this totally intrigues me - this entire case.
I think you are on point! I love your sense of humor as well! Your jokes make perfect sense! They are in fact hilarious to me! I LOVE your commentaries and continue to enjoy your videos❤️
Regarding the sculpture: I feel it's a real clue. For the killer to pose the bodies the same way as the sculpture tells me whoever killed them was familiar with the sculpture. They studied it, knew the piece well. Which leads me to believe that whoever posed the bodies to match the sculpture was either an intimate family member, a friend, or a close business associate who had spent time at their home. There is an emotional message in it. A stranger or a hired killer or a distant business associate would not have taken the time or even thought about doing that. This killing was planned by someone close to the couple down to the artistic details.
@@jordahnnelson9926 I think it makes perfect sense. There's something very personal about the murders based on that sculpture! The only way I'd be off is if a hit man had a twisted sense of humor, but I don't think that's it. I sense there is some passion in this crime based on the sculpture which leads me to believe that they knew the person well.
thank you for analyzing this case, I live in Ontario and I was working as a security guard when this happened while we were watching tv. Just wanted to let people know that the family has put up a 35 million dollars reward, if anyone has info about the murders call the toronto police
35 million is so much... almost like the person offering the reward KNOWS that no one is going to come forward with evidence because they know who did it.
The walk looks like a softer version of a military March (wide perfectly timed gait). Also, the walk is even as a metronome, again a military characteristic in civilian context.
I am glued to this case! What wasn't mentioned is the eldest son was having some difficulty with his father, Barry. I can't remember the details, but it was definitely over money. He was away on a trip when the murders happened but doesn't meat he is not involved. Also what wasn't mentioned is, yes Barry was ruthless in business but also loved his family and did many, many things to help them along the way, which included millions given to the cousins, money that was squandered by them. The second likely suspect was a previous employee that was stealing classified info from Apotex in order to steal some patents and start his own company in Pakistan..he was dealt with harshly and immediately by Barry and has subsequently left Canada for Pakistan. Its a fascinating and twisted case!! The inept TPS bungled this case from the get go....
The son flew in from a trip to Japan and landed the day before the murders...he owed his dad $50-$60 million as his dad needed to pay off a lawsuit he lost. He told his son to take out a mortgage for the money...it's unlikely that his businesses generated enough money to make the mortgage payments...however he never did take out the mortgage...timing is everything.
Thank you Dr. Grande! I requested this case a few months back. I don't know whether that had even had anything to do with your decision to analyze it, but damn, it sure made me feel special anyway :)
Hi Doc. I am playing a game on my phone while listening to you. Interesting story but when you spoke about the waitress remembering, "I once knew someone that was 5'6" and now that I think about it, they also walked." I laughed til I cried and mostly because of your delivery. Love watching you.
Thank you for this concise account of Barry Sherman's life and the brutal death of both he and Honey. We hope the killer is caught soon and brought to justice.
This is possibly your most entertaining video to date. I actually laughed out loud (which is rare for me) a couple times. Due to the frustrations of trying to build a small (very) business, I came to think of the word 'business' as a dirty word. It seemed that most of my vendors subscribed to the belief that the perfect business transaction was: "I empty your wallet, and you get nothing in return." From the description that you provided of Barry, I'm sure he had plenty of enemies. This one may never be solved. I can't find any heroes in this one.
Hi Dr. Grande. Happy Holidays! This case is new to me because this is the first time I've seen it on You Tube which is where I found your videos. Thanks for another great analysis, see you on the next one, peace, love, Janine Smiley🙂😀😍😉😘🎄🎁🎁🎁🎁🎁🆒️💯❕❗☕🍩☕🎂☕🥧☕🍣🎈🎉🎊
I am always amazed by wealthy people not having good alarm systems or securing their home at all times, like keeping all doors locked. Especially when you have enemies! I babysat for a wealthy family and they regularly left their garage open and the connecting door to the house unlocked!
probably they did . ı don twelve anything police says about this case. there must be cameras around the other houses. there was no way who or whom were there other houses cameras would pick up.. it was professional job and killers wanted to sent a message.
This tragic crime happened just blocks from my home. I was glad when the house was demolished so that rubber neckers could no longer drive by to gawk at the location where two people died so horribly. I doubt now that police will ever find the killer(s).

Coincidentally we were just watching the podcast by the reporter who wrote a book on this case. Tyvm for your comprehensive research into the background. Our family had a special interest in this case because a pediatric oncologist being sued by the Sherman’s is related to our Godmother. She wrote a book on the shady dealing with Sherman’s drug company and false claims of a drug to treat children with cancer. When you say Sherman may have had the dark triad I bet you hit the nail on the head and I bet there are lots of ppl especially those parents of dead children aren’t loosing sleep over this case. At any rate, you research so comprehensively we learned much more than we knew. It’s odd the realtor didn’t call 911 for 90 minutes or am I missing some details? Also, posing the bodies in the same position as those creepy statues has me wondering if there was a hit man / serial killer? These were two unsavory ppl. Greed and corruption gets ppl killed sometimes. For the lady below who says the victim was kind to her well maybe so but it’s not about her it’s about hundreds if not thousands of victims she/ they were not kind to. Nobody deserves to be murdered but these two probably should have been in jail long ago. There’s also something about this case neither you nor the podcaster mentioned, the original drug company was swindled away from his partner who was the original owners son or nephew ( I forgot) Sherman falsified stuff and ended up selling it without giving the partner a penny. Dark triad I guess!!! He and his wife reaped the benefits from others misfortunes and tragedies
Oh and the book written by the oncologist- it’s a hard read but I’ve read your bio and you would find it fascinating I think. Lots of medical and legal terminology. The Sherman’s were suing her for exposing them. I think she lost quite a few children before she figured out the drug was to blame.
Great video. I remember when this happened, however it seems to have fallen off the publics radar. I hope they figure it all out, because closure is such a good thing.

I live 6 minutes away from where this happened. I recognize all the surroundings in your pics. Definitely think this was a contracted hit from someone on the inside. The love of money is the root of all evil…..
If it was a contracted hit then why would the killer(s) pose the bodies in that macabre fashion? They would do the job and get the heck out of there not sit around for a cup of tea. Whoever is responsible certainly knew there was no security cameras and an unlocked back door, that should narrow the list of suspects. There are a few reasons to discount his philanthropy. Along with borrowing back money he donated, contributions are often tax deductible, and are often made to curry favor with an establishment. He may have been better able to evade prosecution by making friends in high places. Too, people use tax exempt charities to leverage all kinds of business.
This is like the "Who Shot JR?" scenario from the 80's TV series Dallas. Just like the unscrupulous fictional character J.R. Ewing, Barry made so many enemies, the authorities probably don't know where to start. I don't believe anyone should be murdered like this, but I also believe in karma and boy did it come back to get Barry.
Sadly, it also ended the many charities they contributed to. Hundreds might've hated him, but millions benefited from the generic drugs he manufactured.
I agree. I think his wife just happened to come home - wrong time, wrong place, collateral damage. Mind you, she was a willing participant in the accumulation of greed.

What makes you think hate was involved? Looks like someone killed them leaving no mess no evidence. FBI profilers say family and friends cover the faces.

The suspect took the time and effort to cover their tracks to the point where it baffled police. Sadly this case may never be solved.
I agree
The stories are fascinating; your subtle humor is extremely funny
Thank you for covering this! I know their housekeeper and she was there when they were discovered.
It’s very simple. 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
Mexican cartels, for example, don't only kill their target, they kill everyone in the family for added distress - truly barbaric.
I knew Honey. She was kind to me. She did not deserve to be murdered.
Such a shame.
Sorry for your loss 😮
It is a lesson to not stay married to anyone who purposefully creates enemies and takes pleasure in others misfortune!
Such brutal deaths...I cannot imagine watching ones spouse being murdered and waiting for their turn to come.
Last night I went through my old address books and came across Honey's home/work phone and fax numbers. It gave me pause to reflect.

Hello dear. Just watching this. Agree with your comments again, good points. How is your week going💌? 💚❤🌃🫖⭐🌛🌷🍀🏜🕯
🖖❤️🇨🇦
It's very easy for the son to offer a 30 mil reward when he knows he will never have to pay it. It's just good PR, that's all.
@@buckdesystem4562 Exactly. That same son saved $50 million that he owed his father at the time of the deaths. His father had asked to be repayed.
What if the son offering this staggering $35 mill knows his "reward" is totally safe because he......... fill in the blanks 🤷🏻♀️
I agree. I also think the one who raised the rewards.........😉
I imagine he would have to pay that 50 million back to the estate. There are other beneficiaries.

Hey doc, I've been keeping my eyes open on this case cause it's like 20 or 25mins from where I live! Thx for covering this case!
I'm a Torontonian and have been following this case for years. There have been many questions about the Toronto Police, with evidence coming forward months after the initial investigation. I dearly hope there is a resolution for the families soon. They razed the house, and left many possessions inside, which I always found odd.
Another fact, Barry Sherman, once upon a time sued Toronto Police Service, motive to come with the murder suicide theory
Nobody wanted those memories or any relation to them.
One of the strangest cases I have ever heard. It has a ritualistic feeling.
Not ritualistic. Just personal. You watch too much True Detective.
“They didn’t even tell us if the egg could walk.” OMG I’m laughing so hard 😂😂 I love your dry delivery of sarcastic comments!
Hello Holly how are you doing,
where are you from?
This unsolved murder has been so troubling here in Toronto. I drive by the community centre named for this couple all the time..
Oh, I see how you've got traumatized by the death of these two billionaires. Barry was evel dishonest manipulator and put many people including his own family out of bussiness and was hated by many people, so maybe it was a form of justce?
Just saw this in the news the other day, 25 million reward now and been 5 years so crazy that people can get away with murder these days.
It's 35 million
Initially 10 million then recently another 25 million added on
I suspect that whoever killed them was a close relative or friend, because someone close would have more financial and much more emotional motivation to kill Barry.
Likely the son.The father & son disliked each other.
Love they analogy of the killer posing them like the statues of garbage! ART COMING TO LIFE! Sooooo clever & So sad

I agree especially as they are made of junk - murderer opinion about billionaire.
I think you're reading too many mystery novels
@@jordahnnelson9926 I think it makes perfect sense. There's something very personal about the murders based on that sculpture! The only way I'd be off is if a hit man had a twisted sense of humor, but I don't think that's it. I sense there is some passion in this crime based on the sculpture which leads me to believe that they knew the person well.
I agree with you 💯

thank you for analyzing this case, I live in Ontario and I was working as a security guard when this happened while we were watching tv. Just wanted to let people know that the family has put up a 35 million dollars reward, if anyone has info about the murders call the toronto police
Why bother? The T O police will probably lose the piece of paper the information was written on...
The son that owed his father $50 million at the time is the one who put jp the reward.
@@keithagn🤣🤣🤣
$35 million? Damn, I thought it was only $10 million lol!

Very interesting analysis Dr. Grande. I have been interested in this case since it happened and have read Kevin Donovan's book, The Billionaire Murders. The Toronto Police really botched this case from the beginning, shame on them. I will never understand why Toronto Police did not contact the Ontario Provincial Police for their expertise and experience. I feel sad for the Sherman family, especially the children whose parents died tragically. I hope and pray that there will be breakthrough in this case. If it was a contracted hit then why would the killer(s) pose the bodies in that macabre fashion? They would do the job and get the heck out of there not sit around for a cup of tea.
Bullshit, Karma is usually never applied to bad people, they just prosper.
Sadly, it also ended the many charities they contributed to.
Hundreds might've hated him, but millions benefited from the generic drugs he manufactured.
