Great idea .... looks comfy, and easy enough to implement .. thanks for sharing. We agree, it's good to see more of the younger set getting out there to get closer to the land. Cheers. Glenn & Maureen.
Love my wool blanket great bit of kit. Cool video and it so true about young generation of today I love teaching my 9 year old son all the stuff about bushcraft and the outdoors. Keep up the good work 👍
Hi, nice video... In the army they teach us has to make a litter with two poles and one reg size GI blanket. The bag thing is a good idea/back but it requires stitching. All you have to do is fold your blanket into thirds and lie over too of the folds. So long as there is weight on it the litter will hold up just fine.
Best bush craft bed that I have seen so far! I'm tempted to make one in our site, but space is limited and we are trying to accommodate up to 8 people in our campsite. We have about a 20 foot wide lean to that we are building, and I don't think we can build enough of these inside it. But I might build one or two for when just a couple of us can go camping as we sometimes do.
One of the things that works very well for this type of stretcher bed are the little East German (NVA) shelter sheets. The Russian version has fewer buttons and isnt quit as versatile but it is stronger.
Ditch the heavy wool blanket and make it out of nylon. You can either make it the same way or stitch two sleeves for the poles. Add a nylon tarp and you will have a great light bed for any conditions.
Very nice job on the blanket .. And nice to see you out in the outdoors ... Love all your videos Becky,s as well Great job keep up the awesome work....Mark.....
A real British wool blanket is no small thing! Add Mrs. Bushwhacker's sewing and you have a real resource for camping or for survival! Sew wool and Reflectix together and you have a top-flight, home-made way to get through a very cold night. In the States, RealyBiglMonkey1, by trade a welder, combines spark-resistant welding blankets with Reflectix to make a four season (well, late season tarp for many useful configurations! For Late Spring and early Summer, my 'hat's off' to Mrs. Bushwhacker!
We call it a Kangaroo Farta in the army. Only difference is we use a bipod against a tree then put up the hootchie between the trees. Don't need a ridge poll then. We use the ground sheet/stretcher top for the bed. Another good vid.

I do enjoy your whole ethos,,,,,The challenge BWM , been there done that got the tee shirt....Ancient bones and ill health these days suggest that I can no longer partake... but in my head Im 27 My grandchildren believe I'm 108 ..and most days I feel like that..
