My mini 2 was acting weird when I was shooting over the carp river. I think it was trying to follow the ripples on the water. Even higher above the river I had to hold some pitch fwd/back against the river so it didn't drift. I was shooting strait down and my subject was pulling a cable across the river, so I could defiantly tell when it was moving side to side. If your traveling at speed it seems to not have this issue but if you just hover it may just decide to follow rapids that look similar. Covering the sensor with a few layers of electrical tape fixed this issue but made me fly manual. Now I 3d printed a piece to cover them if I need to do a shot like that again... I don't really have that much advice when it comes to camera drones but that's what I've experienced with rivers
Sand in the motors isn't the worst thing, if its magnetic sand it might suck. But it can still be extracted, if you can take the motor bell off those. Just let it dry and then hold it upside down and slowly turn the bells on the motors the sand should come out, if its magnetic your going to have to use some type of putty blue tac works great. looks like it was still powered on when you pulled it out of the water so that is good. Looked like the battery was submerged so id toss that. Smart stuff in the battery might be damaged. Id let it dry for a few days with a fan blowing on it. Power it on OUTSIDE!! in case of flyaway, also you will see if anything goes up in smoke before would use your refresh. Unless you have broken arms and stuff. I crashed drone in the pond at the MQT cemetery, with zero protection from water. Unplugged the quad before taking it out of the water. I could hear it beeping at the bottom from the surface. Works to this day with zero issues.

After doing some research I learned the sensors get freaked out over water, but I had turned the sensors off and was just hovering. This was in August (I’m perpetually behind in editing 😆) and have since crashed again in the same scenario hovering near a cliff taking long exposure waterfall photos, but this time I was over land. I definitely think it is correlated to the sensors being off but also maybe large cliffs interfering with signal?
I ended up drying it out for a few days and then took it apart and did a good cleaning to get all the sand bits out of the motors and inside and then did a full calibration of sensors, gimbal, compass, imu, and it survived without sending it in minus some cosmetic battle scars. I mentioned we had DJI refresh in the video but when we got home we realized it had expired by a few months as they only allow 2 years of coverage.
