My Mom passed away in early April. Her funeral service is today. I wanted to let you know that I was inspired by your folio videos to make one for her. I used one of the larger sympathy cards as a base (I was able to open it up into three sections), added one of her favorite papers to the cover and covered everything else with coffee dyed paper. I added a sympathy card from her sister which matched the colors and created three decorated foldout envelopes, pockets, and two belly bands. I filled it with her favorite family photos, a letter from me, a dried flower sprig from the last bouquet my Dad gave her, and examples of her artworks (draft poem, draft drawing, and a sketch of a dress she designed). I tied everything up with some lace trim. I’m going to put it in her casket so she has some of her favorite items. Thank you so much, Tina, for inspiring me with this project. It’s been a loving process and I feel like I’m really doing something special for her.
Sorry for your loss. That’s really nice that you were able to make something for her, to show others the love you had for her. I hope a year later that your grief has lessened and the memories and joys you had of her are more present.
I like all the coffee dyed papers and envelopes. You are right that every folio will be different. I would never try any of these on my own. I am loving all your new papers and I still have so much I have printed. Much love ❤❤❤
I just love this, Tina! I love envelopes, which I think is a totally strange thing to love, but look how useful they are! I'm going to make one of these. Thanks for the great idea!
@@shabbydabbydoodah I work in a large grocery store and drag cardboard home all the time. Not boxes, heavy duty cardboard for book covers. I go and buy paper bags from stores that use them to cover my journals. I steal cereal boxes out of recycle bins while I'm out on a walk. People must think I'm strange! LOL! Thanks for the great videos, Tina. Yours are the ones that I watch consistently.
Having fun following along with you. All the flaps, pockets and tuck spots make these intriguing and beautiful! Hoping all is well your end of the world, hugs and blessings, :)
Love seeing you wing it and go with what looks good. I played a little game to see how many tools you used to crease/glue...credit card, bone folder, scissors, finger, tissue...hehe
Oooh, I love folios!! I’m adding this video to my saves, so that I can refer to it next time I make one. Thanks so much - I love ALL your work, but I’m really looking forward to watching this plain duckling emerge into an elegant swan. 😊
Thank you for producing tutorials that even newbies can follow. One thing I haven’t seen is information about sewing machine needles that are good for stitching paper. What sizes do you use for various weights of paper, or do you use only one size needle?
Dear Tina! This is one of the most helpful videos I’ve seen so far!! I’ve learned all about how to make all sorts of pockets & tucks, but not so much about how to create the actual folio itself! I had no idea how to add all the other layers that I’d seen in finished folios. This is so fun, now I want to make a folio now with all the bells & whistles! Thank you so much! This should be on everyone’s list of the most helpful in learning about journals & folios!
What a great gift idea for friends and family! I’ve been trying to figure out what to make for a friend’s daughter’s destination wedding this summer. Now I have a plan. I will use the save-the-date card, invitation, and bits and pieces I collect from the wedding as material for my folio. thank you!
Love how you dive straight in I spend ages trying out which way they should flip etc. Like you said you can always cover it up after. Great inspiration as usual Tina thank you 🥰
So many pockets, this is going to be another beautiful project, love the colours of the kit, could be another visit to Etsy lol, tfs sweetheart huge hugs x Julie
Love this idea, Looks like a lot of fun. Can't wait for the next video on this. It would be fun to add some flips to the front and back covers as well. So many options.
As I may have mentioned previously (only a few dozen times), I l-o-v-e a good folio❣️ This one is looking like a lot of fun and I'm gluing right along with you. Love the paper you're using. Thanks, Tina. 🇨🇦
Morning Tina, this is JUST what was needed. Have wanted to do one like it for such a long time, but never quite knew how to go about it, so THANK YOU for this super video. Can't wait for the next episode. Hope you are all well and safe. Blessings and hugs as always from Cape Town. Diana
Hi Tina, i struggle so much with making folios. But, YOU MAKE IT LOOK SO EASY!! And you have such a large variety of envelopes. I’m going to gather envelopes, tea/coffee dye them and then replay this video and follow your process. Thank you so much. This video is very helpful for one (I won’t mention any names 😂) who struggles with folios. Have a great rest of your day. Hugs 🤗
Lol, I am so pleased that you found this helpful. Yes, definitely gather your envelopes and give it a try, you will soon be hooked, folios are one of my favourite things to make x
This looks really fun to make. Like you said, what papers to use will be the hard part. This is definately going on my to-do list. Thank you again for another inspirational video.
Hi, finally, I get to watch you!🥰 Hope your day has been great! While watching I’ve been trying to slice some paper into small squares, I’m going to try & make the pinwheel pattern! 1/4 by 1/4 is hard to slice!🙄😳 Another great job by you! Thanks for sharing! Hugs!❤️
Lol timing Again, just coffee dyed some envelopes!? I covered the floor with old towels and dust sheets. I love making them complicated lol. I have thrown things away but now have fun reworking. Love this folio and looking forward to the next instalment 💖
Lol definitely preferable to do it outdoors! We have great weather here atm. I'm having trouble with my food gel dying! The colours are very vibrant and modern and while that is good for some things it's not great for the vintage look lol. I tried inking over with vintage photo but not great lol. I will keep trying xx
I love making folios too, but they take me a long time because then I just get stuck playing with the components to determine what I want to do. It is fun!
I just finished one of those and didn't know it was a folio. I like yours with the coffee dyed envelopes! Covering mine completely with scraps made it too junky!
Love this Tina!! I am making one now with some of your digitals! My mom loves the birds you have so I am using your digitals with birds to make her one!
I am looking forward to this! You put those envelopes together very quickly! Super impressive! I look forever to just put my envelopes together! LOL! Decorating is much easier with your beautiful digitals!
Love your take on a folio, funny how they can differ so much isn’t it. Can’t wait to see what you do next. Had a good time at Hobbycraft, it was a bit scary at first but luckily there weren’t many people in there, managed to get everything I wanted and more besides like you do lol. Also went to a charity shop and got a few books. Hope you had a good day. Xxx
Love the way you do folios. I purchased that paper collection, not knowing how I would use it because it is so pretty. Going to go check my envelope collection to get ready to make this.
Wonderful as always. When I use envelopes they weaken and tear along the fold of the flap. Do you reinforce that fold? If so, with what? Thanks! Enjoy your videos so much.
What a great video after I watched you finish The Victorian Folio I search & watched this video and understand it better and excited to get started thought I had white envelopes only yellow I'm so disappointed & the white ones would look so much better then yellow being coffee stained, so off for my purchase!!!!! Thanks so much for sharing!!!
Tina, I really love this and your papers? ...absolutely gorgeous on this piece. So question... is a folio sort of a JJ made from envelopes? I've never seen anything like this before, but I wanna make one! As always, you are my hero. Love and hugs, MK ❤🤗🌞🌵

This is great. I love the fact it is made primarily from envelopes. Can I ask what weight of copy paper you use? I am going on the hunt for envelopes now! ☺🤗
I use a combination of 100gsm for the thinner paper and 200gsm for anything thicker, the 200gsm is considerably sturdier. Btw, I have been meaning to message you all weekend, I finally posted your parcel on Thursday, hopefully you should get it by today, it possibly already arrived with you on Saturday x
