Edit: Lot of folks here mistaking concern about privilege for jealousy. So ... I played life in Easy mode in the suburbs. I'm now a SW developer happily earning $300K+, but I respect anyone who succeeded at a higher difficulty. What I don't respect are development teams that ruin game balance by abandoning their player base to cater to pay-to-play whales. And frankly, that's what's happened to the USA. People are three times more productive than 40 years ago, but they are working longer hours to make ends meet. It's not whining to point out flaws in a badly-run system; that's part of what I do for a living.
