I tend to be practical and a little bit minimalist when it comes to my planner, so your tips on prettying it up are my favourites. I have a gazillion rolls of washi tape and I'm embarrassed to say I've only used about a quarter of them. Can't wait to start prettifying my planner! Thanks, Cara. :)
Fabulous! I wouldn't be embarrassed! Washi is so tempting and there is always so much on the roll, it's practically impossible to use it all up! Have fun with it!!
I'm obsessed with your accent! Mostly Canadian, but there's just a touch of French from time to time. My favorite tip is to use washi to make my own decorated paper clips. I can make them match my layout every week at very little expense and no guilt if I lose one!
I know this video is old but it has many great ideas on using washi and I love all your planners! I don't have much of a busy life to have a detailed planner! But I can still use these ideas in my diary.❤
I've been seeing washi tape in the craft stores for a while now and wondered what all the fuss was about. Just bought my first "creative" planner, and now I'm beginning to see. Thank you so much for sharing these ideas. I really like the idea for marking a page as "special" with the tape. I think I'll need that later.
New to your channel and to washi tape. Don’t have much of a collection however I am working on it. I feel I must be the oldest new crafter out there. But I’m not giving up. I am retired and enjoy crafting so much. Thanks so much has inspired me on Happy Planners. Until next time. God Bless Have a wonderful crafty day🌸💐🌷🌺🌹
Omg lady, you are my planner spirit animal! I have never seen so many gorgeously organized/decorated planners. Thank you for making this video and sharing your gems 😊 #newsub
Oh my goodness, so many fun things. I love using the washi to hold the sticker page on the planner, and using washi as lines (over existing lines even) is nothing short of brilliant!!
Thanks! You have been most helpful with your tips. I am using a planner for the first time in years(since my college years)and you gave me a lot of ideas. I do own a lot of washi tape and I did not know what to do with it.
eve vel Oh I’m so glad that I gave you some ideas to use all that washi!! And I’m even more glad that you are using a planner again!! 😊 What planner are you using?
Just found ur channel and subscribed coz I love washi tape but didn’t really know how I could incorporate them into my journaling. I had bought them for cardmaking and scrapbooking. It’s good to know I can use them also for my journaling, which I been introduced to by my mother in law. And I’m glad to see that you also have so many things on the go with ur planners etc. I have only 2 on the go, and I thought that was already too much -but I wanted a seperate faith journal. Ty for ur video. I will be checking all ur washi tape ones first. 🤣😂
As soon as I heard the word Happy planner I went crazy! I use a happy planner and I kind of turn it into a bullet journal. I am so going to use the 12th I think tip for the boxes.
I love your journals!!! They are so creative and artistic!!! Thanks for great ideas on how to use washi...I have quite a bit and want to use it up...so I can buy more!!!lol
This was good! Thank you The difference. Stern the kids was a takeaway and brining it along so people don’t steal my stuff at potlucks!!! Lol I just ordered more washi, thank you!
Great ideas! I’m going to use your suggestion to mark off a run of dates. You inspired me to get cracking on using my washi, especially for decorating each week.
Some really good ideas! Some were repetitive or could have been grouped together, such as washi to cover (mistakes, preprinted words on pages or tabs, disliked decoration, etc), to attach items to a journal (lists, tip ins, stickers, etc), to bookmark or tab (fold over small piece to make a quick tab, add to paper clips to make flags, run along side edge of page and fold over, make a tab long enough to write on or add letter stickers), to label (assign a design to person, project, etc and use when referring to them, write on the washi), to section a page (to section a page into boxes or separate one written section from another), etc. My favorites are as tip ins (not new) and as bullet points or boxes (new).
I love these ideas. I use a version of your last tip the most. I use super skinny washi tape and have colour codes for each member of the family and for my different roles. I write the event/appointment straight over the top of the tape but makes it visual for me. I then use the same colors in my digital calendar to match!
I LOVE your planners! You are so creative. I wish I could make mine look like yours :( I just never know what to do or where to place stuff. Yours are so pretty, creative and fun!
Thank you soooo much 😘 I do have a new video out with tips for decorating that might help you to get your planners to look more like you would like them to: ua-cam.com/video/c4ytKlbcWMY/v-deo.html 😊
Hey hun I loved your video!! I could watch your videos forever your voice relaxes me. Thankyou it's very helpful. I just subscribed looking forward to watching you more.💜
Welcome and thanks so much for your sweet comment! Especially about my voice, I'm always scared I talk too fast or sound too nasal because I always have a cold ;) Your comment means a lot! Lots of videos coming and I just uploaded a new one ;)
I use washi all the time for tip ins, I had not thought of covering mistakes, I use white out tape, for that. I also like to use it to mark the first page of chapters and new lessons in work books.
I have found for the most part that you get what you pay for, and the cheap Target and Dollarstore ones aren’t as good. There are exceptions to the rule, though. MT and Paperhouse seem to be holding up well, even years later! I do have a video on dealing with bad washi if you want to watch: ua-cam.com/video/A1I8Atz8Lsk/v-deo.html 😊
I get them from all over actually! I think most come from scrapbooking stores. Are there any in particular that you like? I could tell you where those came from ;)
You have a link to print the 21 ways.... however, when you click on it, it asks for an email the takes you to a page with classes and such and there is no printable.... so I’m signed up to get emails and still no printable. Anyway you can send it to me please?
The Hooting Pirate I have three. 2 girls and one boy. The oldest is going to be a senior in high school and the other one is a freshman and my son 7th grader.
The Hooting Pirate sorry forgot one thing. I sstarted using my washi to decorate the side of my pages in my happy planner to jazz things up a little bit
What's your favourite of the 21 tips?
I like the idea of colour coding :) tip 21!
Awesome! and I bet that'll come in handy with your brood :D
Fabulous! I wouldn't be embarrassed! Washi is so tempting and there is always so much on the roll, it's practically impossible to use it all up! Have fun with it!!
The Hooting Pirate ..I have more than one! But...having washi for specific people is a great idea!
I like how you pre-planned what you were going to show so you didn't have to search for it. Great ideas!
Thanks so much, I like to be organised ;) Yah, it would have been a pretty long video if I hadn't ;)
I'm obsessed with your accent! Mostly Canadian, but there's just a touch of French from time to time. My favorite tip is to use washi to make my own decorated paper clips. I can make them match my layout every week at very little expense and no guilt if I lose one!
Creatively Challenged Oh you are so sweet! I lived in France for 13 years but I never thought that I had picked up an accent 😊
Why isn't anyone talking about how sweetly she has been replying to all the comments here.💜

As a Washi addict...I’d like to suggest buying only what you really like. I just got rid of a zip lock bag full of ones I settled for but didn’t love.

I love you journals they’re more like scrapbooks! And the blue one looks very River Song but if you don’t know the reference then ... it’s not lol
Thanks! I’m glad you like them, I love to scrapbook too 😊 It is River Song! There’s even a little tag on the bookmark that says Spoilers 😉💙
As soon as I heard the word Happy planner I went crazy! I use a happy planner and I kind of turn it into a bullet journal. I am so going to use the 12th I think tip for the boxes.

Like #7 / #9 Seen lots of ppl fold washi over edge of paper but having it be a bit past the page is a handy idea. 👍🏻
Glad you liked it!! 😊
Thank you for sharing your washi tape uses. I just love them all!!!
You are more than welcome! Have you tried any of them yet? ☺️
I LOVE your planners! You are so creative. I wish I could make mine look like yours :( I just never know what to do or where to place stuff. Yours are so pretty, creative and fun!

Great video! What are those adorable orange fuzzy balls along the outer edge of one of you planners?! So cute!
Thanks so much! It's pompom fringe. I glued it down to the edge of an important, it doubles as cuteness and an easy way to find that page ;)
Love all the ideas. :)
Fantastic! If you use any if them I’d love to see a picture!! 💕

Thanks you're so sweet
I am glad I came across your channel.. I love the way you say out. Canadian??
Do you design your planner before you get to the actual month ? or as you go along ?
It all depends on what is going on at the time and how much time I have. I'd love to have them designed before hand but it's usually as I go along.
New subbed x great tips lovely I'm just about to start bullet journaling
I use washi all the time for tip ins, I had not thought of covering mistakes, I use white out tape, for that. I also like to use it to mark the first page of chapters and new lessons in work books.
Yay!! I hope you love it as much as I do!! Enjoy :D
Ooooo love that workbook idea! Great one :D Washi is so versatile!
The part of the vid that it made me get crazy is....how many books do you read in a month....???????
Haha, yah I like to read! I average a book a week, but that may have been the year I read 79!
Please enable captions for this video :) Thank you!
Hi, I just tried, but I can’t do it automatically on this video for some reason 🤷🏻♀️
Is there a specific part you are having trouble with?
Fun.
Where do you get washi that really sticks? I have a lot of useless washi.😕
I have found for the most part that you get what you pay for, and the cheap Target and Dollarstore ones aren’t as good. There are exceptions to the rule, though. MT and Paperhouse seem to be holding up well, even years later! I do have a video on dealing with bad washi if you want to watch: ua-cam.com/video/A1I8Atz8Lsk/v-deo.html 😊
what planner is the floral planner that says be daring?
Can you tell me what time it appears in the video, please? I can’t seem to find the one you are talking about 😊
Where do you get your washi and stickers? They are so cute.
I get them from all over actually! I think most come from scrapbooking stores. Are there any in particular that you like? I could tell you where those came from ;)
fun
Thanks!!
If I give you 80-100 dollars can you decorate a planner for me ❤️😂
Haha! Sure 😂
You have a link to print the 21 ways.... however, when you click on it, it asks for an email the takes you to a page with classes and such and there is no printable.... so I’m signed up to get emails and still no printable. Anyway you can send it to me please?
Sorry about that! Email me at cara@thehootingpirate.com and I can email it to you 😊

The Hooting Pirate I have three. 2 girls and one boy. The oldest is going to be a senior in high school and the other one is a freshman and my son 7th grader.
Tricia Ramirez Nice, I’m sure you are quite busy with them 😊
The Hooting Pirate yes, but can't wait to try out the washi tip to distinguish between them.
The Hooting Pirate sorry forgot one thing. I sstarted using my washi to decorate the side of my pages in my happy planner to jazz things up a little bit
Why washi tapes are so expensive?!
There are cheaper ones, but I find those lose their stick really quickly
here is my favorite tip 763 lets get there please return
