Dame Shirley is known not only for her fab voice but also, her outfits, her hand gestures and for not just singing but "living" her songs. She also has a really good sense of humour. Check out her performance of smoke gets in your eyes with comedy legends Morcambe and Wise - She doesn't miss a beat. God love her! Lol. @@awordfrompresidentpat1985 also have a look at Glastonbury from 2007 The Electric Proms 2009, I left these the other day but again appears to have disappeared! Appearance with Sir Tom Jones her long time friend and Welsh counterpart on Des O'Connor TV programme I think late 80's early 90's Christmas show, or her many appearances on Graham Norton show, and the recently departed Paul O'Grady amongst many others, I think she appeared on This Is Your Life twice which you'll get a good insight into her life, which has been far from easy, she lost her voice at one point in her career after the sudden death of her daughter around 40 years ago now, which has never been solved
My wonderful loving late mother just loved Dame Shirley I still have vinyl albums my Mom had collected from the late 1950’s to the early 1970’s Yes Shirley is still British Royalty when it comes to entertainment At my Mom’s funeral going into the crematorium playing was chairman of the board Frank Sinatra and ‘that’s life’ then Andy Williams and ‘Ave Maria’ and leaving the crem Shirley and ‘climb every mountain’ I recommend you react to ‘climb every mountain’ 🇬🇧🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴🏴😀😀❤️❤️
Dame Shirley Bassey has such a powerful voice. She is a very talented singer. Her father was Nigerian & her mother from Wales. All Welsh people can sing apparently.

I love the end of this "Goldfinger" performance when she grabs her hands to her body as if to say "This song is MINE. I DARE you to try!" I don't think anyone has?
Another great singer - have you seen Joe,Cocker perform the Beatles “With A Little Help From My Friends” from the iconic Woodstock Festival in 1968. Like Shirley, just nothing like him. It is stunning.
Shirely was born in a poor area of Cardiff, Wales, called Splott. She first worked packing saucepans in a factory in Tiger Bay. This incredible, multi-cultural melting pot of over 50 nationalities blended harmoniously despite the poverty at times. Her career began in the clubs of Tiger Bay. This video is more interesting visually, especially the dress with the national flag of Wales, the Red Dragon. Hope you enjoy it. While I don't agree on that I would definitely say that for me as well as the overwhelming majority of Bond Fans, this is easily the best and most iconic Bond song, nearly every movie after it includes parts of the song played at key points.
I think many ppl would be hard pressed to find an argument against that statement. From her powerful vocals, to the horns, to the composition and how they weave in the James Bond theme song...impeccable. This is my favorite JB theme song. Man... even though this was way before my time, I can easily admit that they don't make singers or music like this anymore. Plus, those are bomb Bond movies! Love the older Bond flicks.
I've seen this 100 times and still can't believe the power that comes from the lungs of that Women, it don't get any better ,such a presence and entertainer, she is a UK National Treasure.

Shirley bassey is the greatest female vocalists to come from britain. She was from a poor area of wales, tiger bay. Same as tom jones, from a small town mining community, ponyyprid. Shirley was a very beatiful woman, but also had a remarkable voice.
The acoustics are brilliant in the Royal Albert Hall. I feel lucky to have been there. Love Shirley Bassey too. Have you seen her performance at Glastonbury yet? Worth a watch.

When you understand the context of how glamorous Shirley bassey was in the 70s, it illustrates how great the morcambe and wise sketch was. Particularly as you never saw celebrities outside of their normal context in those days, like you do now. A lot of the comedy of their celeb sketches were based on that.
OMG you have been bitten by the Bassey Bug bad and theres no cure except to imerse yourself in her amazing talent. You must do 'This is My Life' and her rendition of 'Where do I begin (the theme from Love Story). The second always makes me cry.

Greetings from Wales 🏴 UK 🇬🇧 bro. Wales is the smallest of the countries (one of 4) that make up the UK, our population a mere 3 million thereabouts and is the birthplace of Ms Shirley Bassey, a birthplace shared with another superstar singer Sir Tom Jones!! Wales has also produced acting royalty like Richard Burton and Anthony Hopkins, Actress wife of Michael Douglas (Catherine Zeta Jones) was born in Mumbles, Swansea, Wales about three miles from where I live. Have seen Shirley many times since 1975 to early 2000,s ....interval, empty stage, mic awaits, the air of excitement is tangible, the orchestra arrives, the conductor...and the house lights go down, spot light on, the orchestra begins intro and there she is...stunning! As you say, no dancers or backing singers just a wonderfully exciting performer that blows you away! None better.
So funny, I just suggested you find this live performance with her in the sea green dress. There are a number of them because it was a concert. Once again, she has one of the greatest voices of all time. Her voice is incredible. God gave her a once in a lifetime gift. She and Patti Labelle has incredible power and vocal agility, Both of them has preserved their voices so well. But, Shirley Bassey was still singing so well at 85 years old and Patti Labelle just sang at her goddaughter Mariah Carey's tribute at 79 years old. Shirley Basse was given the title "Dame" Shirley Bassey by Queen Elizabeth II. It's the female equivalent of a knight. This is My Life is another one of her greatest hits,
Dearest Patrick, Thanks for your irresistible video reaction to Dame Shirley Bassey! I'm proud of you for being an American (I assume) and a man of color who embraces this exceptional woman. I've known about DSB for many years because I studied in my youth to become an opera singer. I remember buying one of her "live" concert albums and sharing it with my voice teacher who wasn't impressed with her singing. This crushed me, but I continued to listen to DSB's album because she was called the female Tom Jones who I also adored as a child and watched his TV show every week. Well, I happened to see your video of DSB, and I had no idea that she moved around and used such gestures when she sang. How mesmerizing this woman was! Can you imagine if the late Prince Rogers Nelson had written a song for DSB to perform. The audience would have rushed to the restrooms to tidy themselves after experiencing this artist on stage. I'm not surprised that Dame Shirley has a wicked sense of humor and that she's been married more than once. What man (straight, gay, bisexual or even celibate) could resist Shirley Bassey! Even women admire her artistry, charm and sensual energy. If only the young singers today, especially the famous ones, would study DSB's stage presence, costumes, vocal technique and demeanor, perhaps people wouldn't misbehave at their concerts, would be more respectful and enjoy the performance. Also, these singers need to find a good vocal coach to give them the proper guidance to avoid ruining their vocal chords and having surgery which means cancelling concerts or tours, thereby disappointing their fans. I like the way you arrange your videos by posting the date, time, location and song title. Keep up the good work, Patrick. By the way, I am subscribing to your channel. ❤❤❤
Try the song 'Till' from her 1979 BBC tv series. Simply perfect ❤. There's so many performances that will blow your socks off it difficult to know where to stop with suggestions 😂

I've been a fan since the sixties! Had her very first vinyl ...this song is on it,and even better back then! Have the cd now...Saw her in concert at Hollywood Bowl, she was amazing!..as a helicopter was flying overhead she looked up and said,"eat your heart out Barbara" referring to Streisand!...At the end of the concert, she did that famous impression of Tina Turner with her hair blowing in the wind,,She and Della Reese brought me through my early days of love and romance along with Johnny Mathis and Nat King Cole and Elvis!..Goldfinger brought her to the head of the charts and in the spotlight....What a voice!

Wasn't she great? Wow! And to think that she was of President Pat's grandparents' generation! Not only could she hit the notes perfectly, but she interpreted the song both by voice and movement in a way that was so entrancing and mesmerizing. You couldn't take your eyes off of her!
Dame shirley basseys career in showbusiness started in the 50s. Shes in her 80s and still foxy AF.... and sings as well as she ever did. In 70s and 80s she had her own variety show. Ive always wanted to see her live. Kanye west sampled diamonds are forever. Other songs worth checking out by her are her version of pinks get the party started, history repeating with the propellerheads, hey big spender and i who have nothing. She did 3 bond themes - the last being moonraker
I thank you sir for what you are doing here. Dame Shirley Bassey deserves all the recognition that you have given her with your many videos of her performances! You just heard one of the BEST.
She did 3 Bond songs. Another great one is 'Diamonds Are Forever'.
Thanks Patrick for "Shirley Bassey - Goldfinger" The greatest James Bond title song of all times! 🎤
I honestly really like this song! I have heard the instrumental before!
One title: Diamonds are forever
Great song and what a great voice she definitely was the perfect person for this song and she nailed it
In 1964 I went to see a James Bond movie and the film showing was Goldfinger and Shirley was the song's intro and that was when I fell in love.
OHHH. MYYY. GAWWD.... I've seen the video of her performing this later in life, but commenters were RIGHT about this early performance!!
'Never, never, never', 'Till', 'I who have nothing', 'Something' .' Where Do I Begin', Tonight I Gave the Greatest Performance of my Life 4K remaster' - really I can't say I have ever heard her sing something I don't like. She is a phenomenon - that's all. Loved your reaction.
She was amazing in that whole concert.......
What a voice ❤❤
Wasn't she great? Wow! And to think that she was of President Pat's grandparents' generation! Not only could she hit the notes perfectly, but she interpreted the song both by voice and movement in a way that was so entrancing and mesmerizing. You couldn't take your eyes off of her!
A maior cantora do planeta terra ❤
Shirley = GODDESS. Electrifying live ❤❤
I've heard a few covers of this song, but if they don't do that little kiss on the shoulder, it's not right. Dame Shirley *is* this song.
How about that horn section?
La meilleure. !!..fabuleux. .!!
Her Bond songs are iconic 👏🏻 Check out I (Who Have Nothing) and Johnny One Note! She’s amazing! I love how cheeky she was in her performances 😂
Thanks to UA-cam, so many of the younger generation stumble on to the fantastic lady and their reactions are similar to yours. It doesn't matter what the genre of music or the age difference, a great singer is a great singer! Check out Dame Shirley's 2005 Royal Variety Performance of Goldfinger. There were dances on stage, but all eyes were on Shirley. Regards, Scot, USA
