Interesting topic, enjoyed the video! Kind of related to names but I often notice that many East Asian(mainly Chinese and Korean)have western names like John, Chris, David. But, most Japanese try to keep their Japanese names but shorten them like Takaaki to Taka, Hiroaki to Hiro.
In Iceland, a son of Jón gets Jónsson and a daughter gets Jónsdóttir as their last name. It is also common to have gets the same first name of their father like Jón Jónsson and Kristján Kristjánsson.
Actually, Tokugawa Ieyasu has a middle name. Officially, his name is Tokugawa Jiro-saburo Ieyasu. Jiro-saburo is from his roots family Matsudaira Jiro-sabro-ke(松平次郎三郎家).
